In this video I share my experience with my new Fuji Instax Mini Evo. I think this camera is the best instant camera in 2022, and also one of the most innovative camera tech we've ever seen. I share the pros and cons, what I love about the camera, and who I think this camera is great for. If you're thinking about buying a Instax Mini Evo, watch this video first!
Great review, thank you. I’m a street photographer and the instant option adds another dimension. Street can be tricky and you don’t want to be caught! Now I’ve realised I can approach my subject with the option of offering them a photo of themselves. This can open up a whole new layer of street photography. Thank you for the review.
Love your all videos.
Does the camera have an option to select to make the picture look retro like the prints from the analog cameras? I’m interested in getting it for the other features it has but I like the retro look the other instax cameras give .
Can you re-connect a phone you accidentally deleted in the 'Delete Pairing Reg' selection? I am struggling to connect my phone again. I have tried restarting both my phone and camera, updated my phones software, and deleted and redownloaded the instax evo app.
What was that external light shown on the camera at the 2:19 mark?
I got one with a rebate, purchased a cheap plastic 28 mm viewfinder and also a PU leather case so I can use the camera by default in landscape mode. Beside normal color I like the monochrome setting with and without vignetting saved. It’s a fun camera.
Nice! Where did you get it from? Can you share how you got the rebate? I’m trying to find a solution for no lens cap!
@@DominicPhillip Both the viewfinder (unknown brand) and PU leather case (brand Caiul) purchased on ali-express. The case is the landscape mode one with a removable flap that also covers the lens. The rebate was a promotion from a shop earlier this year in my country. Final price was minus the VAT we normally pay. I have not yet found a clip over lens cap that fits.
@@TheLeiPol I use the Kaiser 50mm Push-On Lens Cap and it fits and works perfectly for this camera. I got mine from B&H Photo Video hope that helps.
@@TheLeiPolCan you suggest a good viewfinder for the mini evo based on your experience?
@@itzyoung Actually no, the cheap plastic viewfinder is blurry. Other viewfinders are too expensive, even 2nd hand to use on the mini Evo and usually in the 3:2 aspect ratio.
Hi! Great review. Does anyone know if the photo quality when printed is the same between mini evo and mini 40? I understand mini evo is not pure analog. Thanks!
But do you prefer her or the Kodak mentioned at the end of the video? Thank you 👍🏼
I have somewhat mixed feelings regarding these hybrid cameras.
That is to say, the basis of having a Polaroid/Instax is the very experience of getting a picture out of which you do not know the result. However, this experience is rather expensive as each image can end up as rubbish... From which I understand why this hybrid camera can be so appealing as you can save a lot of money.
The second is that a Polaroid/Instax delivers a one of a kind picture, something that died out when we entered the age of digital. Of which instead every picture we take is just another picture that is stored on the hard drive.
However, being able to have the feature of saving the picture is extremely practical if you want to be able to share the picture with several people.
Very well said. Some of the whole nostalgia definitely dies off when you have a screen and a print button. Yet you save all the hassle of trash photos you don’t want. Grass is always greener right?
@@DominicPhillip Its not the screen and the print button. It's the fact that you arent taking actual analog photos. You are printing out photos taken with a low quality digital sensor and printing them out. You are much better off just buying an instax mini link and printing photos taken with your smartphone
@@michaelbell75 it's $100 more for the camera. Sometimes you want to use the goofy film sims or lens modes on the instax that a smartphone can't do without taking the time to edit. Are you on every video for this product trying to insult it. This is the third creator I saw you post on. Why are you even looking this up if you don't want it? You aren't a hero warning people not to buy it. You sound jealous like you can't afford it which you probably can't because you spend all your money on only fans subscriptions judging by your gross avatar.
What would you say is the best camera for this “nostalgic” feeling before the digital age.
Because I agree with this.
Got one of these pretty good. However I wonder if you have heard of a workaround to sending images from the evo that HAVE NOT been printed? other than removing the sd card and putting that into my pc
I think u can transfer the SD card to an adapter connected to phone. I’ve seen ppl do that
This is true. Use the SD and it's really easy and fast.
Is it good for concerts? 🤔
I would love to buy it but stores like Walmart and target are selling it for $250+ and Amazon is selling it for 249.99.
I’d definitely buy one when they develop a Square format of this. Mini’s don’t look good to me.
Square format would be cool as hell!
I have the sq10. I think its their 1st hybrid release and its square format.
@@alexisexdeeswait, I just checked online and the sq10 is a model from 2017, so the mini evo (2021) is just a "smaller" version of the sq10? Do you recommend the sq10 or the evo? That answer would really help me! Thanks!
@@itzyoung i have no experience with evo mini. But would love to try em out. On paper. Sq10 is bigger, has better sensor and flash. Also it feels more sturdy/well built. Evo has more filter and more compact and easy for one hand use. Sq10 = square. Evo = mini print. Print quality is just the same. If you could still get an sq10 and a spare battery, go for it. Removable batteries tend to last longer than internal ones. Still have mine and still working. But if you want more compact in your hand and film size is mini and not a square, go for the evo.
@@alexisexdees thanks Alex, appreciate your help
How are the digital images saved? Does it take a SD card?
Yes it takes a micro sd card. It also has some internal storage for about 40 photos.
Can we save photos for later in pc or other devices to post on social media?
Yeah u can
Wait, with the sd card i can transfer the photo to my phone? no problem?
Yes
I can take pictures on my z50 in manual. transfer via wifi to my phone, then transfer to my instax evo and print them..... Thats awesome. Sold
So wait when you take a film photo is it printing a digital one or are photons passing through the lens and hitting the film?
It’s printing a digital one, thats why you can also print out pictures from your phone or older pictures you took with your camera
@@sophiewehner1804 Ah so its not really a hybrid digital/film camera its a digital camera with a built in printer that uses an instant film chemistry. Light never hits the film. Yeah that'd be an instant pass for me personally.
Would be cool if the engineered something with a sensor that can get out of the way.
@@benbunch4159 i dont know why they call it a hybrid, i‘d suggest you could give it a try. Despite its flaws i really like it, if you get the chance to try it do it!
@@sophiewehner1804 yeah I think I'd prefer a standard instax I just wish they had something more...professional. Which I know isn't the point but if I'm going to to be spending the money to shoot on what is essentially medium format film I don't see why they don't have anything that takes greater advantage of it. To be clear I'm not expecting a lot just maybe a nicer body and a few controls.
@@benbunch4159 yeah i can understand… i hope you find the right fit for you:)
Has someone bought it? Is it worth? I was checking the reviews for Polaroid and was not too convinced. Fuji is not as pretty/cool but reviews say the results are better.
Does every picture you take on the camera saves in the camera itself or does discard after not printing it
It saves it on to the camera (or sd card if you have it) !
It saves to the storage or sd card. So you can review them whenever you want.
Hey..can you put the SD card in your phone (android) and save the pictures to your gallery?
Yes you can
Yes you can.
Don't we need this tech in bigger cameras?!
maybe not in bigger cameras but these cameras should become bigger and better. because for bigger cameras like sony, Nikon, and canon, this polaroid thing will give their product a perception of going one step back in tech. but if fuji makes their camera's lens and sensors bigger and better this growth will have a very different picture in the market.
"You can edit any phone you take on your phone" 😉
Bruh the button upfront is there for selfies hahah they said it themselfs
You did not show a printed photo nor I printing process. Phew!
yes very idiot. More blah blah blah 😂😂😂😂
I am not clear about the life of this camera...once the battery runs out its dead?
Bro I gotta get one
They're really fun, and printing pics from my phone is a game changer. I even bought my 4 year old a little instax photo album and she fills it with all her photos she takes.
Did you answer this: The best “Polaroid” ever? ??🤔 Is it actully the best polaroid till date?
cant shoot landscape? no thanks lol
You can shoot landscape lol
@@t.brogers8956
nope watch the video lol
I mean, the film just isn't shaped well to show landscape. But you certainly can shoot however you want.
