Guys el didn't tell will to paint anything. will lied because in the first episode when el's writing to mike she says that will is painting something, he won't show anyone, and that she thinks it's for a girl that's how jonathan realized that will was talking about himself.
Is Will crushing on Mike? Or is he just feeling lost without him while realizing how “different” he is? That’s what I can’t figure out.

We already knew of Noah Schnapp's greatness thanks to season 2, but the scene in the car between Will and Mike was just something else. Absolutely sublime acting, writing, and directing.
Right?! Just the delivery in that “when you’re… _different_ “ alone sent CHILLS throughout my entire body. Like. It’s not much, that small, subtle detail of like… hesitation/some sort of self loathing/internal struggle just hit so hard (edit because my italics didn’t work the first time)
48:15 about El "commissioning" Will to make that painting - I'm pretty sure that was an on-the-spot lie Will said to Mike because Will worried about how it might be perceived, it was a safety net to clear any confusion or questions. you can kinda see it in the way he catches himself and backtracks a bit. El mentioned in her letter to Mike in ep 1 that Will was working on a painting that he wouldn't let anyone see, so her having commissioned it is pretty impossible. if that was the case she probably would have said it to Mike. so, the painting was all from Will - El didn't have any part of it!

Weird they're trying to force it so hard this season. Really came out of no where.
If El had really commissioned it, she would have wanted to show it to Mike at the airport already.
Shoutout to Suraj for mentioning Mr. Clark! I missed him this season, too! I get that the kids are in high school now so he’s not their teacher, but I really hope they bring him back for season 5.
Will giving Mike that emotional support while secretly crying because he can't be open himself about his true feelings is my villain origin story. He's always been someone who puts everyone else's needs before himself. But it always makes him unhappy. Will should get to tell Mike. He should get to be happy.
I have never felt more conflicted watching a character in this show than with this guy. He did bad. But even despite the bumps along the way, El still cried when she saw him bleeding out. Despite everything, they had a bond. A strange bond, but a bond nonetheless. And he let her go.
I don't think Will telling Mike about his feelings would help him right now to be happy. It's not like Mike would suddenly be into boys and ditch El for Will.
Don't get me wrong, I really hope Will finds the courage to tell Mike (and everyone else) how he feels and that they will love and accept him, no matter what. But to really be happy, Will needs to get over Mike and find another love interest. And I really hope he will in season 5.
will has always put his happiness aside for his friends and family im so tired of seeing him like that i hope they give him a satisfying ending
to be fair he telling Mike won't get Mike to like him back but that's the whole reason he won't tell him. no point in potentially straining your relationship when you know you won't get what you want. he should tell him though, it's eating him up inside.
Papa is written as a chaotic neutral character in the context of dnd rules. You want him to be "good" but he isn't. You need him to be totally "bad" but he's not really that either. He's right most of the time and he constantly tries to further his own interests and agenda with no regard to anything other than reaching his goals. This allows him to slip in and out of the role of antagonist really well. A very well written character overall as a matter of fact.
Will crying because he doesn't know how to tell his best friend he likes him is something that many heterosexual friends go through as well. Joy and Hopper along with Steve and Nancy been going through this in this season. When you're gay you have to realize that less than 1% of the population is and should focus on finding people in that niche lifestyle and not fantasize over straight people.
I feel like people forget about that scene in season 3 when Will and Mike are fighting and Mike says to Will "it's not my fault you don't like girls". He clearly has feelings for Mike but I just think the whole thing is a very complicated situation.
Or It's a reference that he refuses to grow up.
@@lucascoval828 I think it's both because there was a look exchanged between them and a little awkward moment. I don't think Mike has feelings like that towards Will, but I think Will has feelings for Mike.
@@yoditan at this point its pretty obvious to the audience at least. And I think Mike still doesn't know he is gay. When Mike said will doesn't like girls he was saying that will just doesn't seem to be into having a gf. I don't think Mike even understood what he said was poignant. He just assumes his friend isn't interested in dating yet

Can we get a shoutout for Mathew Modine? My man created this complex character, who was a terrible human being, but ultimately needed to bring El's power back.
Man, the scene with Will and Mike... it ripped my heart out and smashed it into millions of pieces, not only because I can relate but also because of Noah's acting. It looked so real, he's super talented.

The chemistry between wills actor and mikes actor is not good at all and I hate their scenes together. Idk why but I was cringing the entire time. I feel bad bc Will is one of my top three st characters. I feel like we’re missing so much with him

I love how we all just have to pretend Hopper's foot is completely fine after all that stuff in part 1.
It's my headcannon that he was just running around on stubs because his feet left him behind miles ago. And then he replaced them with robot legs like Fox McCloud.
Makes as much sense as Hop's feet being salvageable after all of this lol

Regarding the vision Henry gave Nancy---my memory of the previous seasons is a little fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure only Will has actually seen the Mindflayer. She could have seen Will's drawing, but that's way different from seeing for herself how massive the mind flayer actually is.

9:08 This was the mind flayer that attached part of itself to Will in Season 2. Remember the black smoke that they burned out of him? Then later came back and turned itself into a physical form from all those flayed ppl in Season 3. Thats what that references
I think Nancy sawed off the barrel for two reasons, one to "not miss" and the other reason is Jason freaked her out when he grabbed the barrel.
Sawed off shot guns are harder to aim. That line had no sense.

Will said El commissioned the painting, but at the beginning of the first episode El said in a letter that Will was painting but wouldn’t show her meaning she didn’t know what it was and she didn’t ask him for it. Will lied that it was purely his idea to paint it.

At first, I thought it was a little silly that the guns 'n ammo store was as busy as it was. But then I remembered that everyone in town (all the common "non-important" characters anyway) were swayed by Jason's speech about going on a witch hunt for Eddie. So basically, we're seeing everyone arm themselves to go out and hunt the freak. That's how I interpret it.
The scene where Batman shows up in episode 9 is crazy, can't wait for the reaction

This show has many good scenes and then every so often, truly great scenes. That scene between Will and Mike in the pizza van was fucking amazing. So well done.
I just wanna say all of the monsters so far have been based on d&d and debatably the strongest in d&d happens to be a red dragon much like the one in wills painting

It's been three separate storylines converging in the last few episodes for each season for the past 6 years. Sure, it's possible they ditch that formula for the final season but it's probably not very likely.
I dont hv issues with the specific roles play, but with others not being aware of it.
Take S4 Hawkins group for eg, they were together, had their stories stright and in e9 they took specific roles in different phases. That was awesome.
But S4 Hawkins group being clueless about Gulag group or Pizza group is something that has been done over and over. Same hapoened in s3 with Dustin's group and Hopper's group completely clueless.
@@LoungingPotato I'm fine with them splitting up, because with such a big cast if you kept them all in the same place, most of them wouldn't get to do anything. But maybe they can mix the teams up multiple times, so that we get all kinds of interactions in the last season. For example Will and Lucas never interacted at all this time around.
So a room full of nerds and not one noticed the huge Star Wars reference? Missing Red Dawn was a bit more understanding since it's not that popular of a movie, but still ;)

Man Brenner did NOT earn that whole redemptive death thing. So disappointed we never got Hopper punching that creep in the face. "You call yourself her father? You have no idea what it's like to be a father!"
Normies you were right, you guys would not survive an end of the world scenario. It's always black or white with ya'll. I love how ya'll don't get Brenner complex character and I know most folks in the comments don't either, cause it's the same. Just one point, Henry was bad from the start, those kids could go on and be killers and torturers, no way they live a normal life. Literally watch a show where almost everyone with powers is bad. Brenner's program had benefits. Some programs should happen involuntarily. And folks blaming Brenner for Henry, NO, El was getting played by Henry from the beginning. Blaming Brenner is just relieving El of her faults/guilt, cause for what ever reason, folks want to have complete love for the main character(s). Every bad thing they do is justifiable or needed.

While I agree with you that Brenner is a complex character and that not everything is black and white and that Henry definitely was already bad before Brenner took him in I still think the responsibility lies with Brenner and that it's not Eleven's fault what happened. Brenner is the one who took Henry in, who failed him and then kept him around the other kids even tho he knew what he was capable of. Eleven was just a child not even 10 years old being manipulated by two grown men. No matter what role she played in all this, the responsibility still lies with Brenner.

Easter Egg Alert:
Dr. Martin Brenner ("Papa") portrayed the combat journalist "Corporal Joker" in Stanley Kubrick's seminal Vietnam war film "Full Metal Jacket". In one scene Joker and his buddy Rafter Man are in a helicopter with a gunner who was randomly killing non-combatants who were running for their lives on the ground. The gunner asks Joker to write a story about him and when asked why he said he had over a hundred confirmed kills, some being women and children. Joker asks the gunner, "How can you kill women ..and children?" and the man replied: "Easy...you just don't lead em so much!" and laughs.
Stranger Things tipped the hat to this scene by having Brenner ("Cpl. Joker") being a victim on the ground chased by a psychopathic helicopter gunner. There was even a phrase spoken by the pilot that because Brenner was initially being so elusive the gunner was order to "lead him a bit".
