    Why does the tiller not have tines all the way across? There's an obvious area (right in the center) where it's not working the soil in this video.

    • @2aminitials
      @2aminitials Před 7 lety +3

      The center of the tiller is where the gearbox is. It is also where the depth stake is. The depth stake is the black "L" shaped lever that sticks up above the hood that covers the tiller tines. The mark in the soil in the center of the bed is from the combination of the tine clearance on each side of the gearbox and the depth stake. Many times when tilling you won't even notice a furrow due to the soil being leveled by the door dragging off the tine hood.

    So do you still turn crop over with rototiller? How much area do you do with broadfork before you need mechanical tool?

    can 710's add the power harrow? what limitations does the 710 have vs the 853?

    • @BCSAmerica
      @BCSAmerica  Před 6 lety +1

      Model 710 has a small engine and less features than model 853. 853 is considered BCS's most versatile tractor. Model 710 is the smallest, therefore the least versatile, tractor offered by BCS, and is not compatible with the Power Harrow. It's a great fit for small hobby gardeners but not recommended for Market Farmers.

    Hello ,
    thank you for this informative video.
    can i use Power Harrow on my 730 bcs.
    appreciating your response

      @BCSAmerica  Před 6 lety

      Hello! There have been two versions of model 730 over time: 730 with a 8 or 9HP Kohler/VanGuard engine. These machines can only power the 21'' Power Harrow. The 730 GX11, with a Honda GX340 engine, is capable of powering the 21'' and 32'' versions, although the small wheels will be a limiting factor if using the 32'' version on raised beds. The wheels (likely 4x8) are shorter, therefore provide less engine ground clearance and may prevent the unit's ability to climb a raised bed.

    What is a Josephine lever? Where did JM's come from?

    • @BCSAmerica
      @BCSAmerica  Před 7 lety +4

      The Josephine Lever is an easy-to-use adjusting lever that replaced the hand crank on previous versions of the Power Harrow. It enables the operator to quickly reach the transport position at the end of the row. The transport position is handy because the operator won't have to lift up on the handlebars to get the tines off the ground--the unit rolls on the metal mesh roller. After the turn, the desired depth is re-established by returning the lever handle to its previous notch. If you have the hand crank version, you can replace it with the Josephine Lever!
