  • Quick tip how I replaced the delta link for my footloop with a small soft shackle to attach my footloop . Just as strong but no metal to rattle and make noise.

You guys inspired me to try this method. So I took the plunge and got a NT Twist saddle, RockO 'biner, and 100' of Predator. Did some practice in my backyard crabapple tree and everything works as you've shown over the years for DRT. DRT is easier than I thought it would be with good proper climbing rope and a comfortable saddle! Even stepping up on a bite-loop seems just as easy and the hip thrust technique. I want to thank you guys I've learned everything about climbing and being safe doing it from your videos and it give me confidence to do this.

Thankyou Jason , This is the exact reason Joe and I were so eager to share this technique. If it’s to hard than your probably not doing it right. I still get so many people bashing it and telling me it’s not safe !
I tell them, we’ll if you know a safer way you might want to let the Arborist Industry know they’ve been doing it wrong all these years 😆
Best of luck this season 🦌

The metal on my Kong Ascender is pretty thin, and I fear that it might in a short time cut like a knife through that soft shackle. It looks like your ascender is very similar, so be careful.

    • @NYSaddleHunter

Maybe take a file and round the edges?

@@NYSaddleHunter Just to satisfy my curiosity I checked the thickness of the metal in my ascender and found it was .138 inch thick, with well rounded edges. That is not exactly a knife-edge for sure but think about this. Imagine that it is one of your fingers in that hole on your ascender, and it is supporting your weight over and over as you climb. It wouldn't take much of a climb to cut through your finger.

Hey Kevin. We upgraded to a small soft shackle for our SRT system.
I’ll send you something showing how to install and incorporate soft shackles onto your SRT system

What are your thoughts on Samson's Hyperclimb rope? It seems like really good value and good for scout climbing, and its slightly larger than predator. 11.7mm.

Hey Joe…!!! Not really on topic for this particular video, kind of a general saddle hunting question for both you, and Scott. Have you gentlemen ever tossed around the idea of designing, and developing your guys own brand of saddles…? Not really sure of the in’s and out’s, or the legality side of things. Just thinking with Scott’s extensive knowledge of hanging in a tree as a professional arborist for many many years, coupled with your engineering style approach to this subject, and keen eye, for attention to detail. I believe you fellas could come up with a product that would be in a league of its own…!!! Thoughts…?

We’re kicking some ideas around know .We have sat in a few saddles out there. Some good , some ok , there are 2 I really like and would recommend as a rope access climber . The Solitude 2 was the closest thing to perfection for me . But we all know how that ended . And I’m extremely fussy when it comes to comfort . So yes we have decided to come up with something we’ve been brainstorming about for a while. Keep in mind when I talk about comfort I look at it from a completely different angle than most being a rope climber . So if a build checks all the boxes with comfort, fit and functionality for my style , Than it will be just as good or better for the stick climbing crowd . 2 dimensional build so to speak !
That’s the plan. Pretty busy now with the climbing kits and Website, and now hunting season fast approaching. So looking around late winter to start mocking some designs out. We’ll keep you guys In the loop !!!
