man this brings me back, in 1998 I got my private Cessna license and on my solo test I had to land here, refuel and make my way to Niagara Falls and back to Mt. Hope (Hamilton) airport. I still can feel my nerves from back then of just entering this airspace is something else let alone landing a tiny plane surrounded by massive whales of 747's place is freaking massive.

Every pilot disconnects the ap at a different stage. Personally I like to disconnect it as early as possible, enjoy that hand flying as much as you can
i believe just an Ontario thing, kinda like a nice confirmation you read the right thing back. Usually not on every transmission, just on the ones that can be easily confused. Headings, speeds, etc. at least thats what ive noticed flying here.
A qualified AME I always wanted to do my pilot licence, but as I suffer chronic performance anxiety i would freeze while using the inboard radio so I was immediately failed.
APP mode was armed, this plane struggles with switching to loc mode for some reason, the solution we usually have is to lineup with the runway using the LNAV, and then before you get to the FAF you hit APP and switch to LOC and GS

Next time arm the approach modem and you won’t go through the localizer. Sloppy flying.
