Kremenets. St. Nicholas Cathedral: a view from the sky, bell ringing, history

- The Cathedral of St. Nicholas in the city of Kremenets (Ternopil region, Ukraine) today remains one of the oldest Orthodox churches in the city.
The official history of the temple begins in 1538, when it was first mentioned as the Orthodox Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Then it was wooden. At the end of the 16th century, the Polish Catholic authorities, together with the newly formed "Greek Catholics", launched a massive attack on Orthodoxy in Volyn. Many churches were turned into catholic Catholic . It happened with the temple of the Assumption. In 1606 it was turned into a Catholic monastery of the Franciscan Order. In 1631 the wooden church was demolished and in its place was built a stone Catholic church of St. Nicholas.
In 1832, by order of the Russian Emperor Nicholay I, the monastery was closed and its property was again transferred to the Orthodox Church. The church was turned into the cathedral Orthodox church of St. Nicholas. Today, significant restoration work has been carried out in the church, and it continues to function as an Orthodox church.

Интересно и познавательно. Какие бурные эпохи знал этот город. Сила пыталась сломить силу. Места, где в свое время сошлись в схватке католичество и православие. Теперь все выглядит мирно, покойно, благостно. Даже не верится). А ведь война - отец всего и царь всего… Чудесные съемки с воздуха. А эпизод со звонарями - прелесть!)
Да, нашел вот такой факт в Wikipedia:
В 1805 г. Тадеуш Чацкий выкупит библиотеку бывшего короля польши и его коллекцию научных приборов и разместит её в бывшем иезуитском коллегиуме. Вот откуда инкунабулы и книжные редкости в провинциальном Кременце, ставшем университетским центром. В 1831 г. российский император подавил очередное польское восстание. В наказание за мятеж Кременец лишили библиотеки и научных приборов, а собрание перекочевало в Киев, где передано университету Св. Владимира.
Спасибо! Кстати, город на редкость мирный. Сегодня там прекрасно сосуществуют и православные и католики, и раскольники, и иудеи. Всей остальной Украине надо бы брать с него пример.
