  • The White House is condemning Russia for its conviction and sentence of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich.
American journalists are calling the espionage conviction of the Bowdoin College graduate a politically motivated sham. Gershkovich is the first American journalist convicted of spying in Russia since the Cold War.
On Friday, a Russian court sentenced Gershkovich to 16 years in prison.
