- (Original airdate: 11/17/14) Most of the background extras who Key and Peele work with are solid workers, but one of them was a capital-A Artiste.

The fact that Jordan Peele went up and to the left with him immediately 😂
I didn’t notice that at first. 😂
Improv instincts haha
There's a rehearsal process
LOL omg I just died, burst out laughing. The fact that they’re so I sync he just immediately went with him!!! 😂🤣🤣🤣💀💀
I noticed it too 🤣🤣🤣
Usually in a comedy duo, one is funnier and slightly carrying the other. But these 2 are equally friggin brilliant and humble.
I totally agree!
I feel like Keegan is more an actor and Jordan is more of a writer/director. They can both do all of those things very well, but Keegan definitely seems to want to act more than anything and Jordan has mostly moved behind the camera these days.
key carries
@@fislimaj8276 Sorry no Peele has a CLEAR advantage, he lives, eats, breaths ands sleeps his characters.
Which one is supposed to be the funny ones? I just don’t see it.
their chemistry is so spot on even when just talking, no stepping on each other, it almost seems scripted the way they work off each other.
In this case, it kinda is. They knew they were going to be asked this question and then they'll go through their story together.
It is scripted
There is a rehearsal process. Late-night talk shows are rarely on the fly
@@prokdave good point.
@@prokdaveuhh there is rehearsal on skits and monologues but not on interviews. Every now and then the interviewee will ask the host to participate in a sketch or vice versa the host will ask the interviewee. But besides that , it's not rehearsed. on the other hand I can see key and Peele personally rehearsing before the show but I doubt Conan is in on it. It's hard enough booking interviews and getting them to come on let alone having every single one of them rehearse a interview . Typically the interviewee stays in the dressing room until he is called up. The staff typically tries to get the guest liquored up before coming out but that's about it
As someone who makes their living as a "background artist", I can relate to this on a whole other level lol
Yeh man there’s always that one dude that tries to kiss ass and tries too hard.
For some people blending in naturally is as difficult as standing out

How in the Hell does anyone earn a living as an extra?
@@JAMPROSOUND welfare
I was fortunate enough to work on the crew of Key & Peele for a number of days, and I was thrown in as an extra in the turbulence scene that they talk about at the beginning of this clip. It was so much fun to do, and it's great to find this old clip where they talk about that particular scene and how great a job we did. Thanks guys!

I was a background actor for Pacific Rim and there was always this one guy trying to be like Bruce Lee. Doing the splits with two seperate chairs on each leg. Bumped into him at an anime convention and he cosplayed as Bruce Lee. 😂
LOL😂😂😂
I was an extra on the movie, October Sky, and this other extra kept singing “My Heart Will Go On” really loudly whenever an assistant director was nearby. The rest of us were rolling our eyes so hard, I thought they might become detached and roll down the sidewalk.
I loved that movie
Because they thought the AD would be impressed and want to cast them in a movie?

@@mh2120 Ah yes, Titanic 2: Revenge of the Ship. What a movie that would have been! If only...
I came here expecting a “Funny you should ask, Conan… we brought a clip. Let’s roll it” kind of gag with someone playing the Extra extra, but was even more amused to find that they were actually relaying true stories. 🤣🤣🤣
i was expecting the obnoxious extra to be conan
@@unfuzzy It's pronounced "Jimmy Fallon" 🤡
These two are legends already. Years from now their work independently and together will be up there with the greats. I never used to see them that way growing up watching Mad Tv. Crazy how a person can grow and evolve constantly over time. They have been working their asses off for soo long to show us what they are made of and I salute them for it. Love these guys.
Dave chappelle would say they just ripped him off..... plus they're racists. So ya know.

When I saw them on Mad I immediately wished for a show with just them two. Nearly a decade later, history was made.
I bet you this man is having a real Joker moment right now
Lol
Imagine being the extra who did this and now Key and Peele are putting you blast in front of the whole country 💀

I remember the airline turbulence skit. I'm a frequent flier and it's one of my favorites. That's saying a lot, considering everything they do is hilarious.
National treasures, these two. And as somebody who has been an extra and also wrangled them on and off for several years, this is hilarious. 😂
background artist-americans is the preferred nomenclature
You're absolutely right, Mr. Spiceywiener.

What if they are from Germany?
In the parlance of our times.
I wonder if this was the inspiration for their skit about the Walking Dead Zombie extra guy?
I thought the same thing
Yeah, probably but in the opposite sense lol
I doubt it was this particular guy that inspired it. I work as an actor in LA and do a lot of extra/background work, and pretty much every single shoot there's one guy (and it's pretty much always a guy) who thinks that this is their big break and tries to do something outlandish in order to get noticed; and being noticed is literally the exact opposite thing that directors want from background. I've seen people fired from shoots for trying to pull that stunt, so this dude's lucky that the most he got was an amusing anecdote on Conan.
I actually thought that's what the video was about before I watched it lol
@@billyeveryteen7328has it EVER worked out in anyone’s favor? Like, even once? Lol
even this interview looked like their video acting 😂.. what a talent
Key and Peele are a really good duo both totally strong actors and hilarious comedians
Thanks to @TeamCoco for keeping this channel full of great historical moments, even as we transition away and into the new Age of Conan! (I can't wait for the upcoming telegraph series!)
I love not asking. I had a doctor once who dropped several hints that he played some sport in college,, and he was visibly annoyed that I didn't ask what sport.
The Sync between them at 0:37 is amazing
You can see at 0:32 Jordan is already trying to go with him knowing what he’s setting up lol
It's wonderful, and quite normal for anyone who has done impro, which these guys very obviously have.
It's just absolutely fascinating how in tune they are with each other. It's like they're twins, that know what the other is going to say...seriously. They must be soulmates.
I know. Definetly something like that. It's beautiful.
Rhett and link have the same effect
Late night talk show appearances are rehearsed somewhat, it’s not 100% spontaneous
Or that must be years of working together...
“We’re supposed to call them Background Artists”
Title is Background Extra lol
Two of my favorite comedians. They push the envelope.
I feel like they're still acting😂😂😂😂
They are always acting, celebs ain't normal
@@punk105 you're probably right
Nah, they're just expressive people. It's not feigned, it's just who they are.
@@barryschwarz well the talk show is rehearsed, they practice it a couple times beforehand, Conan and Jimmy Fallon have admitted that they do that so they can ensure they get all the clips, mention all the right stories, and not offend people. There are a few times when it doesn't go as planned, and people like Norm Macdonald were famous for purposely going off script just to make the hosts laugh, but for the most part it's already rehearsed and planned and acted out
@@Jacknorrington It's like no one met people who are like these two, expressive, playful. but this is normal behaviour for many people, and especially those in the entertainment business.
Yes, they mark through the shows. It's not rehearsed for every gesture. And yes, the show is entertainment, so the host leads with questions designed to bring out the most entertaining responses, almost always decided beforehand. But this isn't acting. They are being themselves, just as many ordinary folk get amped up at parties, shout, dance, and wave their hands, act out stuff for friends that they find funny. Telling stories is the most normal thing we all do, whether it's describing your work day or the potential reasons for someone else's break-up.
I get annoyed at people quickly saying that people are being phoney when they're just being expressive.
I love Key and Peele. They are geniuses.
Boa noite, uma dupla divertida muito boa. Adorei o vídeo.

That’s not genius. That’s a common method of joking.
He didn’t come up with it. They are actually called that in casting calls.
Or called “background actors”. If you think it’s not acting, there’s footage of the bad ones on CZcams. :) I’ve seen some pretty bad ones.
@@RealActorRob Damn straight. I was an extra a few times many years ago, and have done a lot of speaking roles since. Skill, talent and discipline makes a good background actor, and a poor job can lessen a scene.
This duo is prove the phrase "soul mates" does not necessarily apply to romantic partners only
A perfect duo
Perhaps two of the most dynamic and creative comedians today. Stunningly good.
Andy - "Is a REAL artist..."
Andy is clearly speaking from previous experience. Andy knows.
The guy they’re describing is Andy Bernard
did BG on the Consequences sketch and everyone struggled not to laugh at Jordan's amazing improv.
Three legends.
Edit: Four legends.
Nah, it's 3. Andy richter is not a legend. He's the legends sidekick(IE robin to batman).
OMG. I love those two guys so much. Brilliant and hysterically funny. Seeing them on Conan's show is great because he is also brilliant and funny. Good stuff. I am too much of a wussy for Peele's scary movie stuff, but my 21 year-old daughter loves it. To be clear, I will leave a room if scary music starts playing. I love it when black comedians talk about white people versus black people and ghosts. Though I am white, if I was looking at a house with Eddie Murphy, and the house said, "get out," I would be gone in a New York minute. : )
I used to be an extra and there were always these idiots who thought being “unique” or “quirky” would lead to their “big break.” So obnoxious.
well of course - you don't get a big break blending into the background you know!
@@unfuzzy You don't get it by pissing off people in the business while you're nobody, either.
@@B3Band - faint heart ne'er won fair woman i'm afraid. go ahead and make your career all about sitting in the background pretending to drink cups of tea while others get the glory. how's that working out for you?
@Martin M - no you found the superstar! :D
The more you just try to blend stay quiet the more the AD might actually put you in a scene. I was put in as the extra in the cast for Its "All Relative" as one of the members of the working class in the bar. I also was put right by the craps table for the show Vegas. Its all about blending into the scene. The ones who get onto the shows with speaking roles get an agent and go to auditions. If your in the background than most people usually stay there as no one will take notice of you so its best to just follow what the AD says and not act out of place in the scene. Some extras try moving toward the camera or acting out in the scene. Great example of an overacting extra is in Almost Famous during the graduation scene.
These 2 are so good at doing accents I genuinely had no idea what they actually sounded like before this
He was clearly a robot, like Mr Krabs.
Meanwhile this guy is watching this thinking YES, I made an impression.
The entire time I thought they were setting up a bit and waiting for it to cut to the clip
The couple is the best skit maker period.
Well, that "extra" extra ended up getting noticed, so his plan worked. Key and Peele Screven talked about him on a talk show. 😂

As someone who did extra work, nothing was more patronizing (for me personally) than being called a background actor/artist
Haha yeah especially since extras are typically treated like nothing more than moving props by everyone else on set.
Some old set hands would amusingly call them "warm props." Australian crew are fantastic.
