  • At a remote atoll in the Maldives, Manta rays gather in large numbers for just a few weeks each year to feed on plankton that accumulates in a small lagoon. Will Jonathan manage to time his visit right and find the mantas?

I've always loved animals who just do their own thing. It's a sign of intelligence. I believe that we are severely underestimating the intelligence of these creatures.

They were coming to look at you. Mantas have the largest (or one of the largest) brain-to-body ratios of all fish. They're very smart and curious creatures.
Your videos are wonderful, by the way. Thank you for posting them. (:

Oh you had to go and notice that!! My tank fell off the tank rack on the boat and bent the regulator. It had to go in for service. So the rest of the trip I had to use a single hose reg. Both here and with the whale shark episode before it, I found it funny that you never brought up the possibility of these giant filter feeders catching a person by accident.
Then again, in that instance, the diver would probably hurt the feeder more than the other way around.
