I've read the biographies of Collins and DeValera by Tim Pat Coogan. Neil Jordans film was based on TPC's biography and is very close to the truth of Collins' related with Dev

Dublin was bombed twice by the Luftwaffe, but he went to the German Embassy to give "his condolences" on the death of Hitler. He sold Collins out twice, the second time condoning (ordering?) his murder. When DeValera died, my grandfather said "he should have been shot". Didn't think I would hear grandad say that about anyone
