Always love to see dragon rulers in the finals...gives me some nostalgia with cross banlist cups. Happy New Year lithum and all the real ones who tune into cbc year to year
@@nguyenphamthanhgiang8951Not really, most ruler lists at the time didnt even play wyvern and ladd, as ending on negates wasnt really necessary. The main way drulers would lose was getting floodgated out of the game and that engine didnt help there. Nowdays, in MD, your negates come out of the extra deck, no need for that engine maindeck either
I know I'm probably in the minority but what if we had a crossbanlist with the tier 2 and under decks. Decks we never see go at. Maybe even get to see older tier 1 decks in it that can't compete in recent crossbanlist like goat control.
In theory a good idea. But where are you gonna find the good pilots for the these decks. We see in the CBC that the players can pilot the meta deck ok-ish. Having them piloting tier 2 decks and below will raise more eyebrows.
10:20 there was no reason to not shotgun maxx c before the summon of thrasher here in standby since you already know the deck. Forcing a pass would have easily handed them momentum for the game. If no pass the extra cards could have outed the shock lock as well.
Hard to call Maxx "C" an advantage when both sides are running it. But just the fact that it can draw into Effect Veiler destroyed Clown Blade's one advantage in this matchup: easy Shock Master access. The thing is though, this specific Dragon Ruler build had the kind of "balanced" mix of Spells, Traps and Monsters that gives a high likelihood of being able to play around Shock Master to begin with, and the plethora of Deck Thinning tools between Gold Sarc, Baby Rulers, and Super Rejuvenation meant it didn't take long to see what they needed to keep going or at worst survive a turn. There were more than enough games between both sets that you can't just chalk it up to variance as easily as you would a Single Elimination Bo3, so it really just comes down to this build being effective against that build, even if it wasn't necessarily the best build for the meta it was designed for.
I'm a bit surprised how the clownblade deck doesn't run dweller. It would have been absolutely insane in this matchup, feels strange to not run such a powerful rank 4 in a rank 4 spam deck
For the next final, please play a second match even if Tear wins the first, just to lengthen the video and make the result ambiguous. Rulers are stronger and more resilient enough than all the other Yugi cup decks that the only way to beat them is to floodgate them or OTK them. It always felt like some other decks (Spellbook, Zombie Undead, Clownblade, BlooD) could beat them if they were lucky, so I think it can return in the top cup. Seeing them get powercrept in the 2020 and 2021 cups was pitiful, so this win is a nice relief.

Let's go!!!!! a really well deserved victory and championship for dragon rulers. Oh man, after the curb stomps in the kaiba section, this deck finally was able to prove to be one of the strongest decks ever (in the correct bracket xd). Amazing man, thanks for another CBC Lith :D
I have a lot of complaints by deck choices for the lower bracket, but the upper bracket was almost perfect. I'm having a hard time thinking about interesting old deck not being featured here. I think Nekroz could be on this list since they are way to weak for the lower bracket even with Djinn lock. PACMAN or Lightsworn Rulers might be an interesting choice as well. Actually, I'm not sure if we've seen pure Lightsworns. Winner was absolutely well deserved. It's 3-1 in BO3 matches, 11-7 in games, can't be more convincing than that. Clownblade also had access to same number of copies of Max C, it's their weakness that they don't have room for it in main deck. Not to mention it's often not ideal for this bracket, since Rulers (although much weaker version) practically bricked on it against Yata or TG last year. LADD might be arguably to tailor made for this cup, since it's much better against this meta than its own (although it most certainly did see a lot of competitive play), but regardless babies provide so much for this deck. I
Great back and forth duels here. I swear to god though, I am so sick of DRuler having Maxx C. It feels like that card singlehandedly carries them in practically every duel they are in. That said, it is a legit weakness that Clownblade has pretty much no defense outside of Shock Master. So playing under C is really tough. Next matchup is the one we all figured would come. Pote v Pote. Tear should have an edge actually - really the only way Tear should lose is to full turn locks like Maxx C, Shock Master, VFD, Abyss Dweller. Spright doesn't have those, so I don't see how it wins.
No it shouldn't have been it should stay at 3 all those other handtraps are worse ash a generic negate anything nibiru a free board wipe evenly matched etc are way worse than Maxx c it's not hard to play through Maxx c never was a problem even easier now considering opponent always having ash or decks that just make your opponent deck out
Maxx C just single handedly winning every game. Rulers have an advantage because they draw maxx c off rejuv and their maxx c also can draw into veiler.
yep. In 2021 the CBC was changed. he split the field of 32 into 2 smaller cups of 16, because in 2020 the power difference between the newer and older decks got so egregious the old decks could not even put up a decent fight anymore. The top half ("Yugi Side") is th cup for the old school for the "oldschool" decks, whereas the bottom half ("Kaiba side") is for newschool meta. The cutoff is set around 2015 pre-nekroz. usually stuff before that goes to the yugi side. He did try a couple of "time travelers" (aka putting decks into different sides despite of age), but this year he did not do this. Spellbooks and dragon rulers got put into the kaiba side once and got destroyed (spellbooks could steal a few wins going first thanks to jowgen but that s it) toadally heroes from 2017 competed last year in the yugi side and was not so dominant in hindsight (and did not win the whole thing) In the previous 2 years, the CBC ended with a ceremonial duel, where the winner of the top half goes against the winner of the bottom half, but both times the matches ended 3-0 i think. so this year he does something slightly different. during the CBC, he occassionally posted "A challenger appears" videos, and the "ceremonial duels" this year will be participants of the CBC vs challengers: Winner of Bottom half vs best challenger (Currently Ishizu Tear) Runner up of bottom half vs 2nd best challenger (Currently Kashtira) Winner of Top half (dragon rulers) vs 3rd best challenge (Currently Magical Scientist FTK) So ye, you missed quite a bit of evolution in the format of the CBC, hope this brings u up to date.

Kinda sad both matches were mostly won by whoever drew maxx c. A good testament of why the card is banned in the tcg and should remain that way forever.
I really enjoyed watching this series, but I think older decks are way weaker than the newer ones. or old decks being carried by 1 unfair card (maxx c, shock master etc). There's this card game called "Shadowverse" that did a cross-banlist type event where they made older decks stronger by giving them extra advantages like drawing two cards instead of one, or give more lifepoints etc, etc. Maybe a similar concept could be considered for next year's series to address the gap between decks and enhance overall fairness?
