    So the reason Truth Or Square was so... mediocre, was because Nick wanted it out earlier than the team expected, so it could release along side the special. The original title was "Happiness Squared."

      @robloxking2578 Před 3 lety +35

      Really? I didn't know that! Maybe they should've gone with that title instead of "Truth or Square." You'd think the characters would play Truth or Dare because of the title, instead of just remembering stuff while crawling through the vents of the Krusty Krab. Don't get me wrong, I think "Truth or Square" is quite clever. Though the plot of the episode could've been a little bit different.

      @@robloxking2578 yeah it just felt like another mediocre modern spongebob episode with nothing special about it, heck those other specials like Atlantis Square Pants and Vs the Big One where they got voice cameos of David Bowie and Johnny Depp where they played roles that didn't take advantage of their skill set that anybody could've played them, like the celebrity cameos for Spongebob then felt pointless, at least Hasselhoff in the first movie felt important compared to this...

      Crimson Crobat can’t agree more to that, when i first saw the episode, i thought it was going to do some flashback stuff and look back on the series. I know it’s a pretty played out concept, but i still findit fun to look back on the series.
      But nope, instead it was just the gang thinking back on moments that never happened, some to answer questions that neither no one asked or did ask but didn’t need answered. At least the game’s story made a better episode than the actual episode it’s based off of.

    Tbh playing Creature from the Krusty Krab as a kid was one of the weirdest gaming experiences I've ever had. The atmosphere of the game is super strange, and I do get that it's supposed to be based around dreams so stuff would be weirder but I always found the presentation, tone, concepts so... off?
    Like, it's not often you have a kid's franchise delve into having a game where it's just a distorted version of the original property. That's probably the best I can describe it, but hey I found it really memorable.
    Also I appreciate how stylised the game is.

    I still think Truth or Square is a great SpongeBob game.
    By the way all the reused assets from BfBB or TMG was due to THQ/Heavy Iron being given an absolutely small budget. It was originally going to be just another original game not tied into any special called "Happiness Squared". Unfortunately, Nickelodeon forced THQ to make Heavy Iron tie it into the upcoming special and to rush it. It could have been way better.

    The Spongebob: Creature from the Krusty Krab reminds me of an old PC game that I used to play back at 2004 with the same "story" idea. The game was called "Nighty Nightmare" where you choose to play as Spongebob, Patrick, and Plankton in their own dreams. Each one has three games, and I only remember beating the first level in Spongebob's dream and haven't touched it since.

    Creature from the krusty krab was just like a series of outlandish episodes on one disc. I think that's why we loved it as a kid and still do. Fun fact: Spongebob Squarepants: Creature from the Krusty Krab (specifically on PS2) was one of my first video games ever. My first console was a PS2 and my mom got it for the family. When she gave it to us, she gave me a copy of Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu, my dad a copy of World of Outlaws Sprint Cars 2002 (a REALLY good racing game if you can track it down), and my sister a copy of Spongebob Squarepants: Creature from the Krusty Krab. We all shared our games with each other, so although Batman was technically my first game, I played all three around the same time. Good memories!

    Why is the other game called "Creature from the Krusty Krab" when the plot takes place in dreams?
    Truth or Square isn't too bad, but if there's one thing I would change in the game, it'd be the exploration. Instead of just looking in a scrapbook, SpongeBob would go out of his pineapple, and travel to the places that made him very happy. The locations would also be more free roam than linear.
