Back to this episode, I have a question: Is there a central system to match renters’ identities with rental cars? There should be one. If not for one of the victims’ vigilance in noting down the car plate, the police would have missed an important lead.
Also for game credit scams, most of the male victims are desperate & lack critical thinking skills. Did they ever wonder why a lady would chat with them for no reason? Even on online dating sites, ladies don’t usually initiate chats. Even if guys make the first move, they usually get no replies or even get blocked. Lmao.

Precisely! I feel really bad for the victims. I mean if rich ppl get scammed when they buy branded goods which didn’t get delivered, they don’t really get my sympathy cos the $ is spare cash to them. But this scammer cheated on chefs and other blue-collared & menial workers!!! They work such long hours to earn every penny. The scammer is really heartless!!!

This is easily one of the worst example set by SPF in all Crimewatch cases I’ve seen thus far. How could that Indian SIO even suggest a lie with regards to car-servicing in order to make up for the extra surveillance work at the carpark? So it’s alright to lie as long as you’ve a badge? Wrong message sent. I certainly hope this episode was largely dramatised.
Why not? Are you gonna say they shouldn’t ask the rental company to lie in order to lure him out?
Such lies are necessary in order to capture the suspect. Did they harm anyone in the process, other than to achieve the goal which is to nab the suspect?

If you're referring to the fact that they used a lie, something which is of course frowned upon, to lure out the criminal, I would say it was necessary. Sure, perhaps it's not morally right, but it was a near foolproof way of getting Desmond out in the open, especially considering the time and effort it would take had they not done what they did.
