Every single cover she did on the show was the best cover of each song I have ever heard. I’m from Scotty McCreerys hometown and I was still absolutely PISSED that he won that year. I watched 1 more season and stopped because I was so salty about this loss. I started watching again this season and yet another mediocre country guy won over some real raw talent so I’m salty again lol

Jordan's Version is like "Baby please come back, I love you", Hailey's Version is like "I love you, you have to come back, I need you to come back, I will stalk you until you come back," and Finally Candice's is like "I love you but you know what stay with her because she will never love you like I loved you," All three versions are phenomenal and they are beautifully sung but this is what I heard in each. Watch them again and see if you can hear what I hear.

that's so true. Really, you've hit the nail on the head. So cheap of them. Judges need to leave their ego's outside the door when they enter the building, and just accept that the contestants that are the most talented and need the least 'mentoring' have already earned their ego's as well; why should a contestant's confidence offend them to the degree that they begin to sabotage talent such as hers? These two judges became a 'joke' when they behaved this way.
Save for Steven, the others were super wrong with Haley. They dug their own graves with their first critique with Earth Song, and now they wanted to say that they are hard on her because she is so good. Yeah right. Haley was lit here and I would not even call this particular song her "best vocals ever" like Randy did, but again this is him trying to take credit of her awesome performance. The way she was staring at them like "keep talking" was awesome.

Haley and Scott Bradlee's (PMJ founder/pianist) arrangement made it palatable.

She also recorded I Can't Help Falling in Love which she recorded for the Extra Gum advert, and it went viral and won a platinum award for the song, and the complete advert with her song playig along with the "narrative" of the advert won a prestigious award for adverts. She toured quite bit with PMJ, but has now had her own headline tour which went as far as Europe at least because I saw her in Scotland. Oh aye, and she also did the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago some years ago. I don't know what all gigs she's done in the States as I'm too far away to keep properly in touch, but it looks as if she's done quite a lot. Anyway, things are happening for Haley even if she's not reached the mega-star status that her talent desrves. And maybe she doesn't even want that, and the restrictions it would inevitably bring.
She would be a superstar already today but she is not only because she is afraid to sign a record deal with a big major record label. Hence, no record deal, then no big time for Haley Reinhart.

The judges didn't have anything to do with her except for deliberately sabotaging her performances per the producers. The only reason why Haley didn't win American Idol is because of power voting. Had American Idol has one vote per contestant voting instead, Haley would have won the show in a major landslide. As Haley was by far the most talented contestant on the show by far that season and it wasn't even close.

+Carl Segan Yes we have and is not to shout about! For some strange reason, people generally reckon that all that matters with THIS SONG is power vocals. They all get swept away when someone starts belting it out regardless of how badly the singer misinterpreted the lyrics and failed to give flesh to the emotions of the lyrics effectively - poor musicality. Hence, they are wowed by stereotypical performances by Jordin, Candice, and such. Haley, on the other hand, is like a surgeon wielding a scalpel; she is more accurate and effective in interpreting the lyrics: inward looking self pity at her own lowly state, envy for the other girl, frustration-filled declaration of her love. All these cleverly done with inflections, subtle pantomimes, and poignant push with her unique vocals - and investing it with her own oomph and panache. She gives us goosebumps in all her performances because she sings the words like she lived them. This is what makes this such a singularly outstanding performance.

The best idol, who didn't win. She is such a powerhouse singer, gorgeous, and extremely talented. The judges got it wrong.
The judges didn't have anything to do with her except for deliberately sabotaging her performances per the producers. The only reason why Haley didn't win American Idol is because of power voting. Had American Idol has one vote per contestant voting instead, Haley would have won the show in a major landslide. As Haley was by far the most talented contestant on the show by far that season and it wasn't even close.
I still go back and listen to many of her songs from that year... love her new stuff too, but that first year? Insane crazy vocals!!!

judges know what they are talking about i was so sad when they voted her off because I love when they have they grit to their voice OMG yasss... i mean i felt the emotion in this song, she turned it into this love/crazy song that i would sing to my ex bf if i saw him love another girl or some shit!! I remember when they came to manila for their american idol tour the whole araneta colseum went wild when she started singing house of the rising sun! :) was one of that crowd... she's obviously the best in that season!

For some strange reason, people generally reckon that all that matters with THIS SONG is power vocals. They all get swept away when someone starts belting it out regardless of how badly the singer misinterpreted the lyrics and failed to give flesh to the emotions of the lyrics effectively - poor musicality. Hence, they are wowed by stereotypical performances by Jordin, Candice, and such. Haley, on the other hand, is like a surgeon wielding a scalpel; she is more accurate and effective in interpreting the lyrics: inward looking self pity at her own lowly state, envy for the other girl, frustration-filled declaration of her love. All these cleverly done with inflections, subtle pantomimes, and poignant push with her unique vocals - and investing it with her own oomph and panache. She gives us goosebumps in all her performances because she sings the words like she lived them. This is what makes this such a singularly outstanding performance.
