  • In this video I attempt to repair an Xbox One that is completely dead and missing its standby voltages.
    I left my troubleshooting process in the video so it can be seen how I arrived at my conclusion.
    It is almost fixed and hopefully this can help steer someone else in the right direction and perhaps someone out there can help me with the last piece if this puzzle.

    Awesome video. You do a great job explaining it and I'm someone that repairs for a living. Most creators just fix it and may mention a part or voltage when breaking it down like this really helps beginners/novices. It helps to understand how the things work and that carries over to all electronics.
    Really good work.

      An odd question but do you happen to still have the ID or datasheet for that 16 pin buck converter? Thanks.

    Please keep doing these videos, I'm learning electronics and this is gold mate, thanks a lot!
    I bought an Xbox One S to repair and seems like somebody did a shit job with it, they removed the hdmi retimer and the 3 mosfets and the 3 ICs, they installed a mosfet that was not the same as the original one and I think they expected it to work, I'm not sure who the fuckwit who tried repairing this console was but my objective for this month is bringing it back to life.

  • @franciscoangellopezgonzale5345

    Hi sir, I have 5V in the output of that MOSFET (23:07) so if I get it, that means that everything its ok, right? But mi Xbox turns on only 2 seconds and it turns off again, ¿That means that my issue is the power supply? Because I have managed to turn on my xbox a couple of times. Great video btw

      I had an Xbox One S that turned on but did not output video. It ended up being an open run between the APU and the HDMI IC. This is the video I did on it: czcams.com/video/u4Pu7-gZ_wk/video.html
      As far as I have learned, when you power on an Xbox, a 3.5V signal is sent to a very small chip called that is referred to as the ESD IC. WHen this chip receives the signal, it produces 5V to pin 18 of the HDMI port. This 5V alerts the TV that something is plugged in and it returns the 5V, called Hot Plug Detect, to the ESD IC to let it know, that something is plugged in. The ESD IC then sends a 3.3V signal to the HDMI IC, typically referred to as, the "retimer IC." Once the retimer IC receives the signal, it begins to output the video signals. Watch that video and see if it will help you solve your issue.

    This issue is happening to me since last week and the issue is that I can't turn on my Xbox it's the og Xbox one I press the x button on the console and it makes a sound but won't turn on the fix that I had was that if I removed my external hard drive it would turn on for some reason but now it doesn't work removing it and still does the sound while trying to turn on, it's not the PSU since the light is orange might as well be the motherboard?

    • @probablycantfixit6426
      @probablycantfixit6426  Před rokem +2

      If you are getting voltage on the output of U4B4 and it is 5V, then the next step would be to see if you are getting 12 V coming out of the Power Supply. The beep means that your standby voltages should be good. If you are getting your 12V, then the issue is not related to voltages. If you are not, as a quick check you can ohm your 12V line to ground, to ensure it is not shorted. I apologize if I am confusing.

      That means that you are getting 12V enable. You may want to look at the MOSFETS for the 12V voltage rail. There are many helpful videos on CZcams, specifically Andrew Paul, that look at that specific issue.

    • @probablycantfixit6426
      @probablycantfixit6426  Před 2 lety

      Thanks. I am assuming you are measuring resistance across the capacitor. If one capacitor is shorted, and it is in parallel with another capacitor, then the other capacitor will show a short also. A chip that is shorted to ground can also make the capacitors look like they are shorted. If you have the soldering equipment, you can pull the component that you think may be shorted and then measure resistance again. Hope that helps.
