  • People Trust claims its customers broke their policies by repairing their own homes after Hurricane Ian. But, one homeowner's lawyer believes the State of Florida needs to get involved.

    A reasonable person would be able to see that waiting a year for repairs to start is unreasonable. I'd call it bull

    Talk about a Monopoly! The Carrier will force you to use their own mitigation company even if they can't come help for 8 months! And if you bring another company in they'll hit them with a $3k EMS cap which covers nothing. It's time the State steps in do their jobs and protect its tax payers!

    So, a public adjuster can't be the contractor and the PA on a file, but a carrier can be the insurer and contractor. Our government allows this because the carriers pays for their campaigns.
