So no, you'd do less damage with MM3 and CB2 compared to MM2 and CB3.
I got inspired with you build so I decided to make on similar build, this one has a crit damage of 35 x 7 only difference is there's only 4 shot to the mag and the recoil is a bit of a pain
Team Darkside there is a simple mistake in the xenojiva.
You have the awakening charm +the kulve taroth furyb
That gives you Ammo up 3.
So you could switch the release jewel with a spread shot 3.

For people without access to Azure Starlord legs. You can use Lavasioth Legs + Crit Boost jewel as a substitute for the first build.
Lavasioth Greaves also has better defense than Azure Starlord Legs.

Great video, very thorough and considerate to offer alternate builds based upon gems. Unfortunately, for me, getting the glutton is the hard part - back to farming this weekend.

I appreciate the commentary but I like the silent, dramatic, extra edited, epic music version of your videos. The ass kicking in those are funny and flow with the TDS music. I always go back and re-watch for a laugh and show my peeps.
For anyone who didn't get/doesn't have this weapon the Taroth "Blast" HBG is very similar. It needs 2-recoil suppression mods to fire spread 3 while moving and 1 reload mod to get Spread 3 into normal reload speed, but it can still run Elementless jewel and has a tier 3 jewel slot.
Thank you. I ended up getting 3 of that weapon hoping for a great sword or bug stick, but this makes up for it

Quentin Yes, but it's only -10%, which is really easy to fix and doesn't hamper the bowgun's absurdly high raw anyways.

Thanks for the video, i had been debating between using taroth assault magma and glutton and this helped me see the advantages glutton has over blast that i previously overlooked

Great build. Normally the second close up mod doesn't add much but here it is the difference between 29 and 26 damage per hit without augmentations or buffs, multiplied by 7 so 203 vs 182 per shot for the preferred build.
You don't need a release jewel for the 2nd set... you're getting 2 from the Awakening Charm and 1 from Kulve helm. You also don't have the spread jewel on the second set at all. For anyone reading, switch those two jewels. Though in my opinion that set is a pretty bad recommendation. You have three crit boosts but you'll rarely be critting outside of the affinity booster window. Switch out the kulve chest for rath chest for 2 weakness exploit, use xeno B gloves for the 3 slot in order to put spread jewel in there. Then gem in 1 more weakness exploit and an elementless, the rest expert gems. The gains from crit boost are worthless if you're not critting often. A crit boost gem will bring your 27 to a 28, but a non crit to a crit will bring your 20 to a 27. Focus on getting crit chance before crit boost. The way that second set is recommended in the video, you have 3 crit boost but outside of the affinity booster window you'll have a crit chance of 30% on an unaugmented taroth glutton... with the couple changes I recommended you'll have an 80% chance on an unaugmented taroth glutton.

John Doe Pretty good but if you're using the Glutton you want the non-elemental boost as near-mandatory, and ammo up 3 as high priority. Losing some of the Attack Boost and/or Crit Boost for either is worth it IMO. Again, *especially* for the NE Boost; that's a big part of why this gun is so ludicrous. The free element/ammo up is more of a judgment call, the clips are already big but 2 extra shots before having to reload on each clip is a big DPS increase over the course of the fight. I've got 2 main sets, one is 100% crit, the other is 80% but with Xeno bonus, because while RNG, those extra shots can really rack up DPS. Its match up dependant though, to me. For monsters you can basically stun lock, 100% crit is the way to go. For others, highest crit chance and as many shots as possible before reloading, are king. Crit boost is nice but it should be considered icing.

Love this weapon! Don't have luck on Decorations Expert and Spread so the last build was indeed perfect. Had to use Kulve Taroth's Malice B instead of Kirin Hoop since Kirin runs are always bad, sigh. Thanks for the build suggestion, woot!!
just got this weapon and loving it, for the people who haven't gotten it yet, i don't find the nergigante cannon to be as good, a better second choice is the kulve taroth 'horn'. admittedly this is also a rare weapon but it has 330 base attack and is elementless as well. the biggest donwside is is that you need mods to get the recoil down to plus two and that even with free element you can only load 4 bullets at once. it als doesn't support spread two so you need to make spread 3 on the go. but it easily took down tempered nerg solo in 3 minutes.
For the last build I would recommend the Kulve Taroth’s Malice B instead of Kirin Hoop a as, while you will lose the blight resistance, you will gain 1 lvl 2 slot and a lvl 1 slot for more decorations.
I stopped playing before tarroth but was looking for a hbg or bg spread build when pc starts up I'm all over this thank you !!!!!!!

I was stupidly lucky last season and got the R8 Kulve Thunderbow, R8 Kulve Thunder Chargeblade, and of course this beauty. I've had so much fun with it, even if I don't have two of the really important skills, Non-Elemental + Spread Up. I've just been really unlucky with decos/Lavasioth won't drop carapaces.

Hassan X_X I had over 500 until I got the Kulve Shots lbg. It was the only weapon I really wanted and finally got it on the 3rd time Kulve showed. Good news is I got a bunch of zenny from selling dupes and hundreds of Kulve parts and those Bushi tickets can be used at the melder to make bombs, demondrugs, screamer pods or other useful stuff. Hope you get it, it's a very strong weapon.
I have 0 and Im trying hard to get it. I already did like 100 kulves
D00MTR33 I have the Glutton HBG, Horn HBG , Rage HBG , Blitz Spread LBG , Support HBG . Basically all the good ones except for Blitz Pierce and Blitz Shots .
@TeamDarkside These are really cool builds and very impressive results but some of the builds are also hard to make due to the fact you need to get the Star lord armor which is currently a japanese only quest. Which i really hope they release here because it looks amazing.
I use 4 kulve beta and dante leg, attack charm, jewels - elementless, 2 attack(will become 4 if i have them), spread, tenderizer, critical, with the 4 remain level 1 slot(which is subject to change), i put in 2 crt eye, 1 stun res., and 1 quick sheath
I have gotten the “glutton” before, and after that I deleted it because looking at the damage wasn’t great. Soon after I learnt my mistake that this weapon was actually overpowered and I really regretted deleting it 😭😭

Good news is that, now in IB, there is an even more OP version of it that is the Zinogre one.
I just made the first set but adding lvl 2 health boost and lvl 5 attack 😀. Just switch to the Empress Greaves B and Kulve Taroths Ire A (to economize the crit boost gem you lose when changing the Azure Starlord Guards)
in my opinion people go with crazy too much attack.. i am rolling with:
Weakness Exploit 3 / 3
Stun Resistance 3 / 3
Critical Boost 1 / 3
Recovery Speed 3 / 3
Peak Performance 1 / 3
Super Recovery 1 / 1

or just go with lvl 3 bazooka :D

Hey Chris! I was making your HBG SpreadSpare2 set and I noticed you have 1 extra lvl into Free Elem/Spare Shot skill! So you have 1 large slot to put in anything else!

You get Nergigante Hunger, Attack boost lvl 4, Stun resistance 3, Crit boost 3, weakness exploid 3, maximun might 3, spread shots 1 and elementless 1.
I thought it was a r8 hbg so when I looked I was sad, but I found out it is an r7 and I have so now I am happy. It is really nice to see alternative builds depending on your decos, I hate seeing the build that go "slot in your 7 attack deco".

Looked over my collection of Kulve weapons from the original siege and I already had it, but never used in on account of I found the rarity 8 Taroth Assault "Blast" and have been having too much fun blowing everything to high heavens
IMO you don't need Free Element on the second set, seeing as Xeno Divinity will have the effect of increasing your clip size by 25 %, more or less. Given the above, you can totally forego the Awakening Charm II and replace it with an Attack Charm III + one Attack Jewel (+12 attack, +5% affinity), with a KO Charm III (+3 Slugger/Stun) or even better yet, with an Exploiter Charm II (+2 Weakness Exploit, i.e. 30 % affinity on weak spots), depending on the context.
Been using the shotty build i get 65% affinity with 24k gluton. i have nerg head, dober chest, xeno hands, odogoron waist and azure star legs. Very good dps. ill lost my decos once i wake up officially lol. Monster Hunter for LIFE!

Very nice but in yours first set, you have awakening II + the free element in kulve taroth's ire b. Remplace yours release jewel by spread jewel.
You can replace the ire with the alpha version and the azure starlord with the lavasioth graves beta and end up with the same perks without needing the spread jewel
I personally don't even take the awakening charm considering spread 3 is the most used ammo for this gun and 2 extra shots are too much of an investment for 3 lvl2 gems (or armor skills) but yeah, this HBG is awesome. Looking forward to your stupid quick speedruns.
This build is good, but the biggest problem with it is the innefeciency of the azure legs, which most people dont have anyways. I recommend Janda bear gaming’s build which has exactly the same stats as this one except it has an extra point in Maximum might.

Hey great sets currently using both first and second with my own twists. Now I wanted to know but I did not read other comments because there are so many but do you think the Power Shooter 2 would be the same as your heavy bowgun with 1 attack and 2 affinity augments? Just curious
I just got this game last week and i love it but i'm stuck with all the builds and can't solo much, i'm struggling to get xeno's horns for my hammer and i have never killed kulve taroth, is there any build i could go for if i was using range? i need the horns badly and my hammer can't reach it xD also i don't have much decorations and haven't unlocked the augmentation yet, i'm just using what ever decoration i get from killing the elders, i need health regen and recovery speed but no luck getting them, i just have def down and some support decorations, i can't even kill a tempered monster without any help =.= especially bazelguese,

If u want to go 4 ranged weapons try out the bow 1st
get LBG slice or HBG sticky build, with partbreakers if you can. will easily break horn.
I’d say go for a LBG build or go for a Dragon Piercer Build for those horns

I used the Lbg for the first time for Xeno and fell in love with it. Rapid fire Normal 2 or slicing would be a good start. Join a Sos and with 3 other hunters Xeno shouldn't be hard. Part breaker is a nice skill for breaking the horns, make armor or a charm for it if possible. Bow is fun too, so is hbg but it's less mobile with the weapon out so maybe put on a shield to help block attacks in between shots. Good luck horn hunting. Same strats apply to Kulve and you can get some great weapons from her.
You can do the same build as the solo, except it you get MM 2 instead of MM1 (and handicraft instead of power prolonger, but that doesn't matter). Of course that requires four attack jewels.

Im not sure if my set is better for this. I dont use affinity booster so I sacrificed spare shot and one stage of crit boost for weakness exploit, maximum might and some attack. I also am not clever enough to stunlock a monster but regardless I think I have one of the best casual builds. 85% affinity, level 5 attack, level 2 crit boost, level 2 speed eating and elementless along with spread shot dec for extra damage. I still think I made one of the best casual sets
You're going to maybe swap out one close up mod with a shield mod especially if you're going solo. Even with just one mod, the gun will stagger the hardiest of monsters, and yes it includes tempered ones.

Tempered azure was my dummy with this hbg ( full resentment build) it staggers every clip

You can use lance if tou are having problem with nerg.Easy to use,saves you from dive bomb and spikes if you have guard 5 or just try to use sos flare for extra help

Hi TDS, I'm a longtime fan of the shotgun Hbg but I'm curious on why is the fusilade and tarot Hbg a strong choice compared to the anjanath flammenkanone?
dont use the nerg weapon, the regular glutton, aka the Great Jagras weapon does what you need. nerg cannot can both the normal reload (moving while loading) AND the recoilless shots. so you have to live with either of them. the Jagras can just use 3 close damage up AND works with elementless, the great jagras HBG spread 2 will then do more damage then nergis lvl3, have better reload/recoil. a huge ammo capacity compared to nerg and due to the 3 augments you can either go for raw damage right away or if oyu cant yet get the maximum might gems like me, I used one augment for affinity to get the same boost and have a placeholder attack gem in the slot thats meant to be for maximum might later

I dont recall the gun being any good no. I dont remember the ammo from heart but when you want spread, the nerg, anja or great jagras are the best. anja has huge clips for both spread 2/3 but has bad recoil AND reload so it can only undo one issue with mods, nergi has way to low ammo size. jagras is the best for it IMO if you can build with elementless

I don't have Taroth Assault Glutton but i have Taroth Asault Horn (i thing is that one, i play in spanish and is called Diablos there), do you think is a good one for this set too?
If you have 4 attack jewels, you can make a set similar to the first one, but with MM2 instead of just MM1.
And just how would you do that?
i tested it and the attack up skill does almost nothing in terms of hbg and dmg, i rather put some crit jewels in those slots.
You can make this set better. You can have everything and add level 4 or 5 affinity boost. Also do you guys do health augment?
Doesnt free element conflict with elementless? Am I missing something or is it bc of the sleep on the hbg that doesnt “count” as an element?

so this is my most favorite build ever now. My build excluding QOL skills is no augs yet, but Attack Boost 5, Critical Boost 3, Weakness Exploit 3, Maximum Might 3, Spread/Power Shots. Am I losing out by not using Ammo up?
