Silence sometimes can be so powerful. Choosing to let the rain drops be the only dialog and allow us to take in the moment in our own way while showing that bench part was perfect. Very moving.

25 years...Yeah I saw this one in the theaters, definitely a fave that I have to go back to every couple of years whenever I miss it. The weather in this vlog today seems very fitting, because to me at least, this whole film seems like a perfect rainy day movie, or when life itself feels a little "rainy" and you just need to get to the end credits where Will finally gets it and gets in the car to go see about a girl.... so good. Thank you for doing this one. It was worth the rain soak...Well done.

    Hey Adam,
I am from Connecticut. I've lived here for 58 years...my entire life.
I don't know what you have planned, but I thought I might share a few interesting things in Connecticut and Massachusetts that you might consider checking out.
    1) Old New-Gate Prison & Copper Mine - East Granby
It began as a copper mine in 1709...a vertical shaft, 75 feet down. Then in 1773 it was converted for use as a state prison. The conditions were horrid...a deep, rock pit with no sunlight and poor ventilation. During The Revolutionary War, tories (British loyalists) were imprisoned in the dank, deep pit which was referred to as "hell".
It is now a state run Archaeological Preserve, open to the public for tours. I once lived just up the road from it back in the 80s. It's been many years since I last visited, but it was indeed a very interesting place to visit.
    2) As a subscriber to your channels Adam The Woo, and The Daily Woo for years, I think that you, and your subscribers would really like this place Adam...
Yankee Candle Village in South Deerfield, Massachusetts
This is a very interesting place to visit. A bit difficult to accurately describe as it is one of those places that you really need to visit to appreciate. It is the flagship store for Yankee Candle...but it is so much more than a store. Sort of a cross between a store and a Bavarian village and Disneyland. It is very spacious inside, and it looks and feels as though you've been transported to a Bavarian village at Christmas time. If you want to get an idea of what it is like, there is a CZcamsr with the channel name "The Candle Enthusiast" who created an interesting video of his visit which does a good job of capturing what it is like...
    3) 1997 saw the release of the Steven Spielberg film, Amistad starring Matthew McConaughey, Anthony Hopkins and Morgan Freeman...and portions of it were filmed in Mystic Connecticut at Mystic Seaport as there are genuine sailing ships that you can walk through and tour. This is a fascinating place to visit hearkening back to the whaling days of Moby Dick, chronicling our country's maritime history, including the whaling ships which were once a staple of New England, and the famous slave ship, Amistad.
Being in Mystic Connecticut, it is also the filming location for the Julia Roberts film, MYSTIC PIZZA.
    4) I could go on and on as there are tons of great locations throughout the region...so a few honorable mentions are...
The 2005 Steven Spielberg film, WAR OF THE WORLDS had a scene in which Dakota Fanning's character witnesses bodies floating down a river. This scene was filmed less than two miles from my house (as the crow flies) on the Farmington River in Windsor Connecticut.
The Steven Spielberg, George Lucas film, INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL had a couple of scenes filmed here in Connecticut, including the famous Marshall College chase scene filmed at Yale University in New Haven, as well as Indiana arriving by train, filmed at Essex Steam Train and Riverboat in Essex, Connecticut.
Anyhow...there's a few ideas for you Adam. I hope that you are able to possibly visit one or two of them and use them in an episode of The Daily Woo!
    Blessings to you, Adam!

Thanx for this one. We were in the Boston area once via Logan Field and vacationed the Gloucester area, but...This is a special film for me and the beautiful missus. Came out the year we got together. One of the first films we saw as said couple. And we still enjoy this film - and our relationship - the same after 25 years together. Really cool to see how the places look today. Look forward to the next vid. Safe travels, Adam, and take care.

This is really great. Living in NYC, I have been to Boston many times. However every time I go it's either for a Yankees vs Redsox game at famous Fenway, or a sort of small vacation getaway. There is so much history in Boston, that on the small getaways we usually do the ACTUAL historic stuff. But I love this movie, and I love filming locations. I have ALWAYS wanted to do these locations, but haven't had the chance really. Thanks for the in depth video.

Welcome to Beantown Adam! I hope you are able to go eat at Kelly's in Revere during your stay. I recommend checking out Shelburne Falls where they have a 20 feet Native American statue. Technically not a muffler man, but it kinda looks like that style. Also make sure to check out the largest cactus in MA, which is in Saugus. Also if you go to Brookline and check out Brookline High School, you'll find some of the filming locations of Karate Kid 4. It's also Conan O'brien's high school as well.

"Parking is very difficult" Welcome to parking in urban Massachusetts! :) I lived in Somerville, MA for 23 years (next to Cambridge where Harvard is) and currently live in Rhode Island. Legal parking on any street is a monumental task! If you don't have a resident permit sticker it's sometimes impossible. You usually have to find a pay lot where you pay for the day or the hour, or the often rare metered parking. I often park at a parking garage (it's cheaper outside of Boston proper) and take the "T" around to different locations. Nice job (as usual) matching up the shots with the locations! Lots of hard work and it shows!

If you make it up to Gloucester it’s America’s oldest working seaport and location for many films (perfect storm, coda, etc) Rockport was the filming location for the proposal, stuck on you, and more. Many things filmed all within 15 minutes of our quaint little fishing town!

Thank you for filming all those locations. This video brings back my memories of old Southie (now So Bo... ugh!), the Public Garden, and Harvard Square, Cambridge. Old Southie really had its charm. Now it's almost completely gentrified.
Oh, next time you're in the city... no need to drive in, just take the T! There's a huge parking garage off Route 3 Braintree at Exit 19 - Quincy Adams T Station. They have vending machines in the lobby that dispense day passes.

Go over to the long hall at MIT - I went to BC and also took a couple of classes at MIT. Rode the T from Chestnut Hill alllll the way to downtown then allllll the way out to Cambridge reversing the journey to get home. It took a hundred years of travel each week. However, Boston is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL city, a great academic hub, and filled with history and culture. Go to the top of the Hancock Tower or the docks and eat at Legal Seafood---------

Tip for the rest of your time in the Boston area... try parking your car in one of the T stations outside the city limits (Riverside on the Green, Quincy Adams or Braintree on the Red) and take the T (subway) in and around if you want to get around faster. Driving/parking is a nightmare in Boston, and it's actually an incredibly walkable city and despite the issues we're having with the T lately, it's still a reasonable way to get from point A to point B, and usually less of a headache than trying to navigate in a car as an out of towner. Have fun!

Great stuff as usual, Adam! We did a mid-atlantic road trip a few years ago and Boston was where we spent one of our days. It truly is a wonderous city!
If you haven't before, I'd recommend checking out the history walk in downtown proper. It was very cool and they have a brick line that you can follow from that same huge park (Boston Common) and it will lead you to places such as Kings Chapel, the cemetary where Ben Franklin and Samuel Adams are burried, the Old State House, the site of the Boston Massacre, and even Paul Revere's house (and lots more)! Bunker Hill is there as well, but we had to drive to it, as it's on the other side of the city.
And yes, parking was a game of cat and mouse (and one way streets galore)!

Also, if you're a fan of Jaws (and who isn't?) you really should consider taking the ferry out of Wood's Hole at the start of Cape Cod over to Martha's Vineyard to showcase all the filming locations. My friends and I spent a weekend over there last summer and there are many locations over there unchanged from how they looked back in the 70s. Its really incredible as a Jaws fan.

Hi Adam! I live in Massachusetts and there are a lot of interesting things to see in Mass and the surrounding states. Fall River, which is on the Rhode Island border, is an old city known for its old knitting mills and there is so much history on how that city was a booming manufacturing town full of very wealthy people who built there mansions in the Highland area. Many are still there today. I know you love trains and there is a train museum as well as Battleship Cove which has several ships and a submarine from WW2. Unfortunately the city is also the home of the grizzly Lizzie Borden murders which was never solved. I hope you enjoy your time in the area. Looking forward to your videos!

So exited you are in Boston! So much history there. I was raised in Ipswich MA where Cranes Beach and Cranes Castle is and of course Ipswich clams and the home of the iconic Clam Box restaurant. You should stay and see the greatest Fourth if July celebration in the country. Best place to see is right in front of MIT on the Cambridge side of the Charles River. And you don't have to go through security and have to stay in the Esplanade on the other side if the river. Events all day in Boston that are free performers, jugglers, and lunch at the Cheers bar is not to be missed recommend their Boston baked beans and hotdogs. The fourth in Boston should be on everyones Bucket list.
Park your car outside Boston at a T station. Ride the subway into Boston best way to get around because of the enormous crowds. After fireworks go get a drink or a snack let the crowds dissipate. Then you can just walk onto the subway with barely any crowds. Its just in the timing. Tip from a local.
A visit to Boston Gardens to see the Swan boats and the statues from the Book Make Way for Ducklings is a must. Cool spot during the day when its hot. Also little Italy and Chinatown are good places to eat.

Also, across the Hahbah in Eastie they filmed Mystic River and parts of Blown Away. Come to think of it, there's a lot of different areas they used in Blown Away. The boat explosion damaged nearby windows and shock my house about 1/2 mile away.
Yeah, last night's sunset was intense too, nice catch!

On the Fourth of July most of the day events are in Boston proper. You can walk across the bridge over Charles River to Cambridge over to MIT. Prime viewing area for fireworks and still able to walk around freely is in front of the MIT library looking out over the river. Fantastic fireworks display with live music from the Boston Symphony Orchestra! Its very long too. Patriotic and heart inspiring!

*YOU WERE LITERALLY WALKING ON MY STREET!!*
I live on the same street as the Basketball court! We walk our dog in that park every day.
The East 5th Store has been closed for over 10 years.
The owners actually tried to reopen it about 12 years ago and my husband installed the floors in the store. The floors are actually still there to this day.
It's really a mystery as to what happened and why they closed again (because they had closed and reopened before seemingly closing for good over 10 years ago).

I was just there last week - you just missed some beautiful weather. Your VLOG is making me want to watch the movie again :-) / Boston Commons is beautiful in the spring. It was kind of cool to see it with no one there actually :-) / We were just in those same places in Harvard Square, but I did not know the "Apples Scene" was right there! Just a little distance you prob could have filmed some Social Network scenes on campus :-) //

lol! You overshot the park/lake/rain scene - it made me want to take a nap! Maybe you can upload that scene and continuously loop it for relaxation and meditation!

Adam, if you're still in the New England area or in Boston, give me a shout if you need anything. The parking around here is a nightmare but I was born and raised here and can help with parking, navigating the area and locations if you like.
Keep up the great work and thanks!

Note the "triple deckahs" standing so close together, no driveways, no garages.... no place to park but the street. A big part of the problem. But parking in general all over Boston has always been notoriously scarce. The city streets are laid out in "cow paths" not as a grid, so many streets are skinny and parking is only on one side. Yes, it's a trip finding parking in Boston 😁 Enjoyed seeing the GWH movie spots and just my home town in general, thanks!

      @edwardmiessner6502 Před 2 lety +1

Exactly! Some of those three deckers are so close together they're like row houses like on Beacon Hill or in the South End! ❤

@@edwardmiessner6502 Yes, a quaint part of what makes Boston so special, but the buildings go way back to the days when few people had vehicles. So protecting them from the elements wasn't a concern. 🐆😎

You should have shown some of the locations of the new Boston Strangler movie or the old one for that matter.
Good Job!! Been watching you for about 6 years and I have to say, always interesting.

When you start heading back down to Florida, I recommend you go through Long Island. You can take the Orient Point Ferry out of New London, Connecticut to the north fork of Long Island and drive through all the way toward NYC and then down the east coast. Would be something totally different than you've ever done in all your travels.

  • @amherst88

Thanks for the tour -- if you had walked a couple of blocks up from the 'them apples' scene you would have found the outdoor seating where he & Minnie Driver were having coffee & she was trying to study her Organic Chemistry "It is actually important that I learn this" -- great job though!
