- A huge lineup of mainline stars would grace the Severn Valley Railway for possibly the biggest gala of the year across heritage railways. The event's theme was aimed at the big engines, with the LMS, LNER, GWR, S.R & B.R all represented. The star of the show was no other than 6233 'Duchess Of Sutherland' which has just returned from major repairs and re-painted into her glorious Crimson lake which she is most well known for !
The Duchess was backed up by 46100 'Royal Scot' which had replaced 45231 late on. 70000 'Britannia' was now hauling paying passengers after nearly three year's out on the sidelines and having completed loaded test runs a week prior to the gala she was ready to go. The fourth and final visitor would be the North York Moors resident Q6 '63395' head to the Valley, this loco was also straight out of the workshop having being steam tested one week prior to the event. An unusual sight to see three visiting locomotives straight out the workshop in the space of a few weeks and all staring at the same time.
All locomotives performed well with very little issues. Just two of the homefleet are captured as the main coverage is of the star guests ! The action is captured on the Friday with some half decent weather. As usual thanks to the SVR for their mammoth effort on putting on this four day steam fest !
I hope you enjoy =) - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Your footage of Royal Scot is the best I have ever seen and should be on national television.
A lovely line, and a lovely video. it could be twenty years ago, nothing changes, Thank you both.
Duchess on the LMS rake and Royal Scot and Britannia on the red & creams. It doesn't get much better than that.
beautiful settings, locomotives, and camera work - thank you for posting these
superbe vidéo. un grand merci d'un passionné de France.
Stunning footage. It ended too quickly!
Excellent, great shots of wonderful locos working hard!
Brilliant captures, thanks Liam. My top three: the sequence through the two bridges, the Brittania departure at about 09:30 and Royal Scot at 13:00. Kind regards, Bob.
Great footage! It was a great gala despite the weather most of the time, looking forward to more!
Lovely stuff - I went yesterday and got a total soaking. Even in those conditions, the SVR put on a great show and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I've got the rest of my life to dry out....
Lovely stuff, Liam. Many thanks for creating such an enjoyable video.
Definitely chose the right day weather wise.
Cracking shot of 2857 cresting Eardibgton summit.

Fantastic stuff as per usual. I had a video of my own from Saturday/Sunday, but I accidentally deleted all of my videos while it was rendering! So two days stood in the cold and rain, for pretty much nothing
Two lovely shots of the Duchess at 11:25 and Royal Scot at 12:45.
