    For tennis elbow and still great performance and durability: Tecnifibre X-One Biphase (mains at 48 pounds) and Luxilon Alu Power at 45 pounds in crosses. Both 130 millimetres or 16 gauge. Got lots of power, feel, and control still and they last quite a long time. And I hit HARD. Thanks

    I was full poly for awhile, had some tennis elbow. Switched to 16 gauge VS gut on the mains at 55 and Luxilon 4G Soft on the cross at 52 and no problems. Plays great too. The only negative is I break the gut in about 3-4 hours. Costly and I have tried to find a cheaper alternative, but nothing plays like gut.

    Started using Hyper G at 52 lbs. Got sore elbow. Took said elbow about 4 months to settle itself down. Now stringing at 45 lbs. I’m primarily a flat hitter, so went back to NXT although I still have poly in 1 racket. The poly seems dead at the net compared to the NXT. I’ll use the racket with poly if I want to hit kick serves, or weird slice serves. Don’t really play singles anymore. Here in MI, it’s about 6 months indoor and 6 months outdoor. (Yay, fresh air). Don’t mind the winter though. It’s always 73,or whatever you want it at, indoors during the winter here in MI.🥶

    Great Channel, I watch you 4 times a week . I've been a stringer for 5 years since I turned 65. You have been really helpful and have confirmed my theory on hybrid for better arm friendly with good feel and power.
    One area that would help me is in evaluating which string and what tension to use for someone 3.0 to 3.5 , usually 50-80 yeas old with oversize rackets (110 to 135 square inch heads). They tend to be lobbers and slicers too old to change.
    I personally favorite use Klip legend 16 g natural gut mains 59-62lb with Tourn grit 17g or Volkl cyclone tour 17 for the crosses 55lbs. On a Wilson BLX 104.
    Thanks,
    Bob

    • @LuchoVena
      @LuchoVena Před 4 lety +1

      havent tried that one, but almost all of Polyfibres use a lot of non-polyester, or the same other poly's additives that are used on co-poly's by other brands to soften the stiff polyester, as full or most of the string material. Polyethylene and Polyolefin come to mind. In short, Polyfibre is my go-to when I want to soften the stringbed at the same tension and keep the same advantages of spin and control by using poly.
      Wish they were more available. TW is stopping carrying them sadly. Noticed more and more of their models getting off their page. Only one Black Venom left. and I wanted to find some reels of Hexablade. hidden gems

    I love this guy. His video are so in-depth and unpretentious - I normally never watch videos over 10 minutes in lenght, but his commentary is captivating. I heard that natural gut strings are avoided by rec players because of their liviliness, hence no the best option for a player like me (I am probably 3.5 to 4 player). Should I give it a go with natural guts? I really want the best experience on the court.

    • @nostro1001
      @nostro1001 Před 4 lety +1

      @ Milan....most club players don't use gut in either a hybrid or full bed because of the cost.
      Sure if you don't want a lively string gut isn't the go....but most club players look for some liveliness. They don't hit like Roger (who hybridises with gut) or any other pro who definitely hit much harder than club players.

    What would you say about low stiffness poly strings (aprox. bellow 190 lb/in) as volkl cyclone, v-torque tour, wilson revolve, etc.? I have some arm issues myself due to overtrainning and I could find some rest with those "low stiff" polys (luxilon element is also included in this list). Does the stiffness of the string material have something to do with arm issues or I was just lucky with those strings? Congrats for the great work in the channel btw!

    • @tberry79
      @tberry79 Před 4 lety

      Felipe- I’m not an expert, but in my experience, the stiffness of the string definitely plays a big part in it. If the strings are very stiff and they are at a high tension, the racket can feel like a wooden board when you hit.

    Do you carry Polyfibre strings? if not, you should, they are amongst the softests monofilaments out there. Some of their strings are made using other type of softer polyesters that are not stiff polyesters. Polyolefins, Polyethelyne come to mind. These are some of the additives other companies add to polyesters to soften them and call them co-poly, but as full string or most if it. TW tested some of them and their stiffness ratings came out as soft as some multifilaments! But you still get the advantage of spin and control from the poly, albeit, some models are very lively too coz of it. Im looking to get more, reels even, work amazing with small headsizes too.

    • @abc123s100
      @abc123s100 Před 4 lety +1

      You can absolutely go lower than the recommended tension on a racquet, whether it be modern or vintage. I personally string my LM Radical MP at 45 lbs, despite the recommended tension range being 52-62 lbs. In the end, it's just a matter of preference and if you feel that you would benefit from a lower tension, whether it be for a more comfortable hit or for the increase in power and spin. I would say it's worth a try, as long as it isn't too far removed from where you're used to stringing your frames.

    • @denny2427
      @denny2427 Před 4 lety

      These day I lowered it to 45lb from 50lb. And I like it more. But I was wondering why they said 50-60. Why not 35-60 lol.

    • @abc123s100
      @abc123s100 Před 4 lety +2

      To be fair, most players do tend to string between 45-60, so it's not like it's a weird range to give. I think it's just for those who don't know much about how tight their strings should be. That being said, you'd hope the stringer would know what tension range would benefit that player more than just some general guideline

Stringing it in a hybrid plays a little stiffer, depending on what poly you use. Just make sure your stringer watches the video on the Ashaway website before stringing it.

    interesting. I had BAD Tennis Elbow playing RPM Blast strung @ 55. Surprised you didn't mention Babolat XCel...I see it mentioned on the tennis boards all the time. I went to Babolat XCel strung at 48~50 and have never had the tennis elbow return in 5 years of 2~3x / week of playing..

    • @devinmoose
      @devinmoose Před 2 lety

      @alexandergoldman you string RPM blast at 55, that's probably why you got tennis elbow. If you strung it at 48/50, you probably wouldn't have had those issues.

      Nick Byrd , everyone know it is impossible to try all strings in the world. All things considered I have tried all the ones in the video and at least 20 plus other poly strings. I had TE so I did a lot research, tests and got feedback from other ppl online, friends and customers from the the tennis shop I work. And I will keep trying new strings. No sarcasm necessary here dude.

    It would be helpful to see a video with the difference in tension between the main and crosses when stringing a tennis racket or maybe use the same tension all around.

    • @javace79
      @javace79 Před 4 lety

      In general crosses will be tighter when strung as it is just in the nature of the process for a two piece stringing. Also depends on your shape of racquet, for example Yonex frames due to its shape is recommended to lower the cross strings 2 lbs. Two different string types used in a hybrid is where you mostly see people vary tension. Also lowering the tension of the cross string that is slick will increase snapback if you want to generate a little more spin.

    I ruined my elbow with years of Luxilon Big banger 16g on a Pure Drive. Whenever I start to feel something in my elbow from my Hybrid (I string in the low 50's), I always switch to full-bed Head Rip Control 17g (Stiffness 138). The only multi for me that I can string in the 50's with no pain and has decent control. Also on sale for $5.50 right now.

    I played tennis over 30 years, and i do agreed that strings make some difference when it comes to Tennis elbow, but i think, your ground stokes cause most of the problem, if you are not hitting them correctly. Resting is the best method, but i also heard from others that if you continue to play with a tennis elbow, it will soon go away.....( i don't think so ). Also, changing to a softer and less tension racket will help too.

      @@Spellcheekswammablamma I've bought from him . I'm in Australia and it cost a lot to get them here by posy, more than the string cost. The first two lots broke when any tension was put on at the start of stringing, the third lot started to split half way through so my stringer, differentto the first two lots, had to ease off the tension. Both stringers said the product was sub standard.

I have a little tennis elbow problem (causse essentialy by my profession) and i play with wilson clash and xone biphase 24k for the moment. I like this string but too thin, i break them too fast and in 1.34 i hate them (no spin). If someone have recomandation for arm friendly and spin friendly strings that should be great!

    Natural gut mains 27kg
    Alu Rough crosses 25.5 kg
    And string savers on some places
    My arm start to feel little pain ( muscle above the elbow) i think just because of high tension and luxilon... hm
    Just pull off string savers... maybe things on string bed makes string bed less flexible...
    Hm thinking to restring it with lover tension..

    • @bowsershark
      @bowsershark Před 3 lety +2

      Nrg2 played well but wore lightening fast. Bi-phase lasted longer than nrg2 but it was also low on durability. When I had elbow soreness I successfully used gut on the mains and bi phase x1 on the crosses. A less expensive arm friendly set up, I also used Prince lightening on the mains and sensation or biphase on the crosses.
