Fantastic, they are such so great bike! The DRZ 400E is a very popular model here in Australia. Many tour companies seem to use the too. They offer such great value for money and reliability. Got my 07 DRZ400e 2 months ago and like you gelled with it pretty darn quick 😁👍i am running 15-44 as well 😎i got a 16 tooth for doing the longer road and not so hard dirt rides with the boys on the bigger bikes and happy with how it goes 😛👌 keep well and ride safe-ish mate 😉🍺
Seeing as you had both of these bikes, I would expect you to say your current bike is better? Curious on your take on how they are to each other, as I know nothing about the limited made BMW, while the DRZ has been around forever
The two bikes in stock form are chalk and cheese. The BMW was much lighter, had better suspension, and more power, but less comfortable for long adventures. When I bought the DRZ, it wasn't in its standard form. It was already set up as a lightweight adventure bike, with bigger tank capacity, aftermarket seat, and the suspension had been done and sorted. The subframe on the G450X is not designed to carry weight, like the DRZ, and the oil capacity, like most 450 enduro bikes, was less than a litre. So, I would have had to modify the bike quite a bit to turn it into an adventure steed (more dollars too). I don't think reliability would have been an issue with the BMW, but we all know that the DRZ has proven reliability. Parts are easily available for the DRZ, too, unlike the G450X.
