    Mr Wolpert I recently played a slam contract in a BBO tournament and wondered if I could show you the hand and hope you could give me an approach on how I should have played it? Or is their a place where I could recreate the hand to study it? thanks , Phil

    I just signed up and it looks useful and enjoyable. Can you please tell me what the little flag icon means under the bidding box? Also, for the practise hands, is it competitive bidding? Don't think I have seen opp bidding yet. I am playing with Lia 2 over 1, since that's what I play on IntoBridge.

      The flag is just a way for you to mark a board that you want to look at it later.

    Thanks for this video Gavin. I tried Cue Bids out yesterday after hearing you talk about it on The Setting Trick podcast. I love the idea of it but found the interface a bit confusing and wasn't sure what I was doing or what my results were. I did some bidding with a robot partner and no interference but would get a very low score with no idea how the score was calculated. An example is a board I (north) have 12 points and a 5 card heart suit and my partner (south) has 9 points and 3 hearts. I open 1 heart, partner supports with 2 hearts and it gets passed in. But the result is that the best contract is 2H bid by south! How could that even happen if they only have 9 points and 3 hearts? In what world could that ever be a contract? It really messed with my mind after I had a few boards like that and got bad scores. I could not find anywhere that really discussed how it worked, what the scores were, how to interpret it etc. I really hope that side gets better because the concept is fantastic.

      Another example that just happened. Robot (south) has a flat 3244 and 16 HCP and opens quite naturally a 1NT. I (north) have 5 HCP and 5 hearts so transfer to hearts and pass. Final contract 2H by S. the score is 47% because the site says the best contarcts is 1C by S. How could that ever be the contract given that scenario. If you weren't opening a strong 1NT surely you would open 4-4 in the minors 1D and already not be able to have a final contact of 1C. Ok, enough ranting by me. I just had to get all of that off my chest!!

      @@craigrt Hi there! :) Thanks for your feedback!
      Let me clarify how it works. The best contract displayed is simply the best contract double dummy - we have no idea what system you play, what is possible to reach and we don't take any of that into consideration when scoring. So, sometimes you need to take the scoring/stars with a grain of salt just like Gavin mentioned in the video :)

      @@cuebids I appreciate that now. But I was trying to point out that for a new user to your site it is confusing to say the least. Perhaps a small info button by the score that if you hover over will pop up a small window with that explanation. It would make it much better for new users.

    Never mind. Apparently one needs a Diamond Subscription (paid) to do the Competitive bidding.

    • @wolpertbridge
      @wolpertbridge  Před měsícem +2

      The diamond subscription is very reasonably priced. I get full value out of my heart subscription.

      Hi there! Cuebids here :) You don't need a subscription to do Competitive bidding, just select robots in the dropdown. If you want to use the advanced robots to compete, that will use up some tickets. But you also get some tickets for free each month. Let me know if you have any questions!

      @@cuebids Well, I tried it 2 ways. Events - Daily and from Compete -Daily. Both times I see the Select Partner box and select Lia. A pop up appears with a need Diamonds message. Could you please explain what I am doing wrong? In tried to follow your instructions, but I am probably missing something. I appreciate the assistance!

      @@cuebids ok, is not in the Compete menu, its in the Practise menu! I'll try it out and then see about a membership. Thank you.

      @@rebageorgiadis3861 ah, yes. I thought you meant competitive bidding such as opponents entering the auction (compete for contract). Using Lia in events (daily/weekly) does indeed require a diamond subscription. For practice, it doesn’t require any sub but will use tickets.
