So the man, who was impersonating a middle-aged woman named Merle, had time to "sit here" and call them and text them asking them to put the dog away and then he shoots the dog. If he had time to call and text, he also had time to take a pic of the dog and then leave without making the delivery due to safety concerns. But instead he shoots the dog.

Maybe her dogs were trained to go after a perp of a certain color and gender and that’s why she’s conflating the two separate things together? Maybe her dog would’ve been fine with whoever she saw was this middle aged woman, but not a large black man.
To me it’s weird that she merges the two separate issues together, unless she knows that’s the reason why she let the dogs roam free in the yard…because she thought it was a middle aged woman which her dogs wouldn’t bother.

If the person showing up isn't the person that it should be, you have no idea if they are a criminal or not. That means the dog must respond to voice commands to back off, be on a leash, be in a fenced-in yard, or on a leash. In more rural areas, there are generally no leash laws, meaning dogs may run freely, even through their neighbor's yards unless the dog is caught attacking or menacing other people, pets, or livestock. After being caught, a judge can force the owner to keep their dogs kenneled, force the owner to surrender their dogs to an animal shelter to be rehomed a minimum of 50 miles away, or in extreme cases have the dogs put down. I know about this because of having to stop one neighbor's dogs from killing another neighbor's chickens then protect a toddler (and his parents) from the same dogs in the same day. I tried to convince animal control and the judge to have the dogs rehomed (they were still puppies) but the judge listened to the owner's pleas and allowed them to keep the dogs in a kennel for the rest of their lives.

We haven't heard his side of the story and we don't have security footage. We only have Angie's testimony, which is just one side of the story. She's experiencing some raw & powerful emotions over the grief & mourning of her dog, which is understandable. For one he didn't work for Instacart, some woman did and he was fraudulently using her account for the job probably because he can't get the job himself with his background. NO COMPANY let's their delivery personel carry guns. 3 out of 5 American homes have dogs, if you are afraid of dogs, then you shouldn't be in the delivery business. I dont' disagree that it is stupid of people not to properly contain or restrain their animals from approching straingers. I've worked for FedEx for 8 years and had all kinds of dogs run up on me from Pit Bulls to Rotwilers. Panicking and running is a sure fire way to get bitten. Standing your ground and looking at your feet is the best way to avoid arousing the predatory instict of a dog.
One time I was on a job way out in the sticks I pulled up to this mans property he had acres, I walked a ways from my truck with his package and here's his large dog barreling straight for me. My first thought was to run, but I knew it would catch me when I looked back at the distance of my truck so I stood my ground, looked at my feet to avoid eye contact and it just circled me a few times barking, and then wandered off after determining I was not a threat.
Had his dog attacked me I was prepared to hurt it, but I wouldn't have killed it. What that guy did was totallyuncalled for and cruel.

Some people are deathly afraid of dogs, especially delivery drivers! He will Never get in trouble. The only thing is the Idiot Owner got her dog killed by not getting the dog when the delivery driver told her to. And it lead to him being fired which 2nd Amendment Lovers which is most of America, should Boycott Instacart for that. Dogs bite delivery drivers all the time. Delivery drivers have a contractual obligation that you agree to allow them on your property to make said delivery. You cannot claim they trespassed. And negligence? Driver doesn't know that dog. Keep it inside, or keep it caged and muzzled if it doesn't like strangers. YOU are negligent if you order delivery, yet have outside dogs that don't like strangers.
Driver hasn't been charged with a crime. Very obvious why the InstaCart driver created a false account and concealed carry- it's not illegal and he has a right to do so. He has a right to privacy and a right to bear arms. So do you. Don't ever let a company take that from you.
Harmon's roles as a cop mean nothing. She has no knowledge of the law and is playing some dumb sob story. It's HER fault she couldn't control her pet. Nobody else knows that dog and nobody has to give it the benefit of the doubt. Lack of wounds on the driver means nothing- you shouldn't have to allow yourself to be injured before defending yourself. It's fight-or-flight and he chose fight. Laws that require fleeing somehow think one can override split-second instinct in the moment...which is ridiculous. You Californians live in a fantasy world. Grow up.
