How about these are some hateful ignorant people that see this as a symbol of value to their perceived 'other', and by destroying something that you hold as most dear its them symbollically that they dont value your feelings, and even more wish to cause as much outrage and distress by said act. Its usually men that are so fragile in their ego and masculinity that they try to mask their insecurities by this sadistic provocation to demonstrate that THEY are socially dominant to 'The Others'. The worst for them would be to ignore them and not respond to their antics, dont get baited in responding to this provocation.
