    The Star golf cart is by far is the most comfortable golf cart for anyone that is over 5' 10". The evolution cart does have an adjustable steering wheel but its irrelevant when the pedals don't move.

    I purchased a Yamaha Gas Golf cart from the Villages Golf Car. Only thing that was bad in first year was one of the snaps on the enclosure popped of and they replaced. Otherwise not a single issue. Another reason I did not get electric is if let’s say you forget to plug in at night and you go out you might not have enough juice to go to like to one of the far north golf courses. Also in my opinion electric golf carts are more dangerous for pedestrians as they cannot hear the golf cart coming. It’s great your issues were covered under warranty. But the ugly for you shows there is some quality control and design issues for the Star.

    The thing I would be disappointed with is the inconvenience you have gone through the past year taking it out and in of the shop regardless of having a rental while getting it fixed- who has time or energy for that? How frustrating! When you mentioned the cost to replace the seats - WOW! Hopefully you do not incur additional costs after the warranty! Best of luck! Thanks for sharing - great content!

      Thanks Land GilrGB, it has indeed been disappointing to that extent. All in all, the STAR fits for us in so many ways but we'll need to make the seat switch so Shirley can be comfortable while driving. I am concerned about cost but we'll just have to see how is all goes. Thanks for watching, appreciate your input and Stay Awesome!

    We have owned our Star Sirius since March. We needed to have the controller (transmission) replaced, since the motor would shut itself off occasionally when coasting down the bridges over 44 and the Turnpike. We also had the brakes adjusted due to bad squeaking, a faulty turn signal replaced, and a loose trim piece glued back on. Villages Golf Cars is OK for service. It can take a week to get an appointment. The Star's ride has a heavy feel due to the weight of the battery, so it's a bit rough going over uneven expansion joints on bridges, curbs, and some cart paths. We bough the $2400 adjustable seat on the delivered cart, and the additional cost is really way too much. However, the 3+ inch adjustment and seat recline feature are very useful and the seats are extremely comfortable. The Star also has many minor squeaks from the frame and other places, but overall it is very quiet. The steering is a little different than Yamaha. I also give it 4 stars. I think you need to wait and see about the long term reliability and possible repair costs post-warranty. The battery shows 1/2 charge on the indicator bars after about 30-32 miles, so in the type of use we give it (multiple shorter trips and stop-and-start golf) I think the limit would be 60 miles. We find the back-up camera to be totally worthless in day or night conditions. As delivered the Star indicated a top speed of 22 mph, but we had it adjusted, so we can now reach 25 mph.

    Informative video. Shortly after closing on the sale of our home in St. Johns this time last year we purchased from our friend Dave who worked with my husband years back in car sales now working at Villages Discount Golf Cars a 4 seat gas Yahama Quiet Tech which the rear seat flips down to create a cargo bed for just shy of $20k. This was the golf cart I wanted long before we moved to The Villages after seeing former Villages CZcamsr Scott Camack's video on this model which he owns and I liked everything about it. And, we were very lucky to be able to purchase exactly the cart we wanted because when we moved to TV the inventory of golf carts were very low and several of our neighbors in waited many months to get their carts. Thus far we have had no issues with our cart other than we thought we were leaking some fluid, and our dealer sent someone over to check out the issue within 2 hours of our call and found no leaks. It all boils down to personal preference, and for us we would not own anything but a gas Yahama golf cart since we have had such a great experience with owning ours over this past year. Golf carts even pre-owned are an expensive purchase, and the more research you do on alll makes and models really helps reduce the risk of buyers remorse.

    Very informative. I'll keep seat adjustment in mind. I have heard very good things about the customer service at Villages Golf cars. We rented from them when we visited the Villages. We thought they were great. One thing I want to mention. How close are you to the turnpike? I've watched alot of other Villages youtubers broadcasting from their lanai and never noticed so much highest noise as I have in your video. Is this typical of DeLuna? Thanks for sharing your experience.

      Hi DisMindy5767, TVGC does a great job very accommodating, super friendly and easy to work with! As for noise, It comes a goes, wind direction and time of day... we're not that close to the turnpike however I've been using a diff mic that is super sensitive so it picks up more noise. Also after coming from inside the garage even I noticed it. I'll work on that and try to get that corrected. SA and I appreciate your feedback!

    We also have a Star and love it. My wife is petite too but rather than buying a new seat our salesperson at Magnolia suggested she try a back buddy which is basically a pad that she puts behind her which pushes her a little closer to the pedals and wheel. The adjustable replacement seat puts me so close to the controls that it is impossible for me to safely operate the pedals, and I am only 5'8". Try one of those before dropping another $2,400. They cost around $80, and we store it behind the seats. (We have a 2+2)

    Great video, very informative. I wonder if the windshield squeaking where it meets the cart body is a problem for most carts and that it's just not noticeable with the gas carts because the noise of the engine is louder than that squeak. I'm assuming that your wife's issue is that she has difficulty reaching the pedals? How tall is she? Do you both have the same problem with the fold of the windshield being right in your view, or does just one of you have that problem (since you both are probably not the same height)? We plan on moving to the villages either at the end of this year or the beginning of 2024, so we will certainly keep these things in mind when we test drive our potential cart purchases. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

    • @thevillagesdeluna
      @thevillagesdeluna  Před rokem

      Hiya Keith, thanks and glad it helped. You might be on to something as a gas cart is much louder so I can see those kind of things being drowned out. And, yes it's the combination of reaching the pedals and the line of sight with the windshield for Shirley. I have no problem with driving, and steering but the windshield is more annoying then anything else. We tried the new seats and on our friends STAR and they fit Shirley perfectly. He made the switch (because wife had the same issue) when he bought his, we decided to wait. Now, we'll be ordering the new seats this week. As I mentioned I still feel the STAR was the best choice for us, time will tell if that was a good call. Congratulations on moving to TV and have your wife drive several GC to make sure she's comfortable. SA!

    Great video. I’ve considered the Star but that windshield split and the seats have been holding my wife and I up. Did you consider changing out the windshield to one without the split but just vents in the lower half? My wife is short and the adjustable seats raised her up even higher away from the pedals so still not sure what we will do. I’m going to try a lot of carts in July.

    • @thevillagesdeluna
      @thevillagesdeluna  Před rokem

      Hi Gary...thanks for stopping by! I have not thought about changing the windshield as I do like the split window set up. When you add the NEW seats it does sit you up higher so visibility is much improved. Shirley can reach the pedals per our test ride, sorry that does not work for your wife. I do agree, that the best path is to keep testing and see which works best. Have you looked at the Atomic Cars? Appreciate your input and Stay Awesome!

    Another great video …
    I, for one, would be interested in your golf car purchasing experience …
    Why you chose electric over gas?
    (I understand only 80 miles per charge w/ electric, 200 miles per fillip w/ gas)
    Why you chose NEW over used?
    What other brands/models you considered? … test drove? (Yamaha, Club Car and EZ Go seem the most popular)
    Did you look outside the bubble? Where? Why you chose the Villages Golf Car dealership?
    More of what features you like? … we’re available? Don’t care for on other golf cars you’ve seen?
    Many of us are new to the Villages, and new to owning a golf car?
    Thanks, again
    … look forward to your next video
    Keep up the good work 👍🏻

      Thanks Parski glad we could help! WOW, lots to unpack here but I'll try to do my best answering...
      1- Electric over gas because of noise and smells
      2- just plug it in Lithium over gas and no visits to the gas station ever
      3- TVGC did not have any USED carts that got the same kind of range
      4- test drove the Yamaha but the STAR won out, see answer #1
      5- we did look outside (Atomic and Village Discount Golf Car) and prices are cheaper for sure but the convenience and reputation of TVGC was a great plus along with the loaner program.
      6- love the smoothness, and how quiet it is, plenty of pick up!
      Please let me know if I missed anything and of course thanks for watching and Stay Awesome!

    Hi TB, We ordered a Star golf Car for delivery in August. We watched your video after you purchased the cart and that helped sell us. Anyway, when we were looking for a golf car we test drove the Yamaha Quiet Tech 2 Gas powered GC and the Star. The Star has way more pick up and did not lose power going up hill. As you pointed out in your video, the Star is very quiet and with an 80 mile range you don't have to worry about getting stranded because you ran out of charge. The only thing that I wasn't crazy about in my test drive was the way the brake feels. For me, it just didn't seem to be as responsive as the Yamaha. Do you have any comments with respect to the brakes? Thanks for all your videos, as a new Villager they are a big help.

    • @thevillagesdeluna
      @thevillagesdeluna  Před rokem

      Hey Steve, thanks for watching and jumping in! You are correct, we liked and still do like so many of the STAR attributes and we would make the same decision again today! Quietness, acceleration and the ride is so comfortable. As for brakes, I would agree they are rather soft (my best description) but provide ample stopping power. Keep and eye on it though, if you begin to hear any grinding make sure you call TVGC. The service lady told me a few had come in with that problem. Other than that it's all good and glad we could help...as always Stay Awesome. -PS hope you guys are enjoying your new home and each day in TV!
