- Okay, I lied. THIS is the most fun battle in the game. I have a separate save file for this battle so I can go back and play it whenever I feel like it :D
I have the Second Star and default costume on Yuri because it's his "canon" equipment, and this battle is awesome. I wanted it to be as "authentic" as possible. Except for Yuri's bodhi blastia. The yellow one is horrible, the new one is just so much better looking.
This is my first real battle on Unknown, so bear with me, alright?
With that being said, enjoy this amazing battle!

The Golden Hawaiian Swordsman Dragon HIGHLY AGREES!!! That dialogue makes the battle between Yuri and his best friend Flynn ALL THE MORE entertaining!!!!!👒🗡️🐉👍

Hilarious how Yuri says "I'm so gonna kick your ass" and then Flynn says "No no no no, I'M gonna kick YOUR ass" and the video matches up perfectly
Oh god, the scam accounts are teaming up to become stronger.
What makes it better, is that Yuri activated his Mystic Arte when he said "I am going to SO kick your ass!", but it got automatically cancelled by Flynn activating his Mystic Arte and saying "nonononono, I'M going to kick YOUR ass!"

Personaly the way I always saw it at least for people like Flynn ash etc... Is that they in actuality are as powerful as you so there health seems higher than it is cause just seeing the number 50 a bunch when you fight isn't as satisfying as 2000

I do agree, Yuri and Flynn follow different paths because they want to protect the same thing together but in a different way. Like the two sides of a coin for example. A promise which Detective KIDS will never forget to his friends.
I'm pretty sure everyone who records this fight in English tries to match up the Mystic Arte counter with the Dialogue.
When I sat down to record this 5 years ago, I actually received a letter in the mail from Namco telling me that I had to match up the Mystic Arte with the dialogue, or else they would take down my video.
I figured that everyone who recorded this fight also received a similar letter...

I'm still playing through the game for the first time. Halfway done, and I can't wait to get to this part of the game.
I just recently watched the First Strike and can agree with you as well as how adorable Puppy Repede is and the respect I've gained for both Yuri and Flynn. Also, Rita is far more adorable in the movie than she is in the game despite only getting like 3 minutes of screen time.
@@sperryyoungerjr.3985 TBH I love when the studio decides to continue or create prequels with a certain story. Xillia 1/2, First Strike n Vesperia, (I know there are more, but these are the best IMO)
It just gives the heavy emotion that is already within the story, more weight, and I appreciate the hell out of it.

Basically, Guy from Abyss traveled to Terca Lumeris, changed his voice and became an imperial knight, then after the events of Vesperia he traveled to Reiza Maxia, changed his appearence, dropped sword fighting and learned martial arts to then become a doctor.
This is how I think of it, since Guy looks the same as Flynn and Jude as the same voice actor xD

Y’know. Every time I watch this it amazes me how opposite they are to each other in their methods. Both want to do the right thing in their own ways. Flynn always sticks to the rules like a model student while Yuri’s a vigilante type of hero. And yet they’re still friends ‘til the end
I love how Flynn says he's going to kick Yuri's ass right as he uses a mystic arte. That was so perfectly timed
I know I was overleveled xD I could've gone overkill and use the Fell Arm, though. Of course, this isn't a video showcasing my skills or anything like that, it's here just to show everyone how awesome Tales of Vesperia is :D

Fellow gaming Brother/Sister, i thank you for this video. This video helped me decide my set-up for Yuri in my playthroughs. Tiger Blade into Azure Storm, into Shining Fang Drop, into Destruction Field, into Shining Dragon Swarm is my favorite Arte combo. Tons of hits, and lots of stun-locking, super satisfying. Thank you so much for the inspiration you gave me.

I absolutely HATED that the Vesperia bosses would constantly toss out mystic arts on a whim and without needing to follow the same rules the player has to, the other Tales games do similar things but are usually a lot less cheap and obvious about it.

Al Cervantes You kidding? Every boss that had a Mystic Art would do as I described. Flynn is probably the worst not only because he would use his mystic art whenever he wanted but do it while you're comboing him and thus shouldn't be able to fight back at all and especially when you tried to use your own, making it nearly impossible to use a mystic art on him on top of everything else.
I do not remember Alexei, Duke or Zagi doing it without going into OVL. I do remember that Alexei would often go into OVL and use it straight away though.
+immortalfrieza What are you talking about? The only boss that uses a Mystic Arte without going into OVL is Flynn. And even then, the only time he doesn't it is the first time Yuri uses his in the fight. After that, he always goes into Overlimit first.
Tales of vesperia was my first tales game and its good honestly and this was one of my favorite battles because of what the battle means and that music

Pft, I bet I could finish that fight on unknown difficulty at half your level, using only a *Compact Sword + 1* for equipment, all without taking longer than a minute.
(The trick is to let Flynn kick your ass).

I had to pause my battle the first time because their commentary was just so hilarious, XD.
It also made me laugh at how....suggestive the beginning part is if you close your eyes and just listen to them...

My favorite parts from this scene was when the "I'm gonna kick your ass." part and the end when they are lying there and laughing...It's the first time you really see them as friends in the game.

I may be a young teen, but this game gives me memories, from when I was around 10, I played this game until beating Duke, hah, man, looking back, I did well for a child on easy mode. With the switch being a thing, I can see a attempt to play it yet again.

One of Yuri's skills, the Tension series, allows you to enter overlimit after you get a certain number of combo hits. The first one is, IIRC, 26 hits.
Hell yeah, favourite fight in a Tales game to date; if only for the dialogue (I am SO gonna kick your ass! Haha)
Didn't even realize it but Flynn learns "Guardian Field" while Yuri learns "Destruction Field"
They can both learn guardian field though

I love this game and those combos do look awesome. I would love to see them both player controlled with the same high health Flynn battling it out with no items :D although I do have 1 question why did you keep lensing him? If you was checking his health can't you just hold RB to show the targeting and see his health like that?
He wanted to make sure Flynn had enough health left to be able to finish him off with Yuri's mystic arte.

The first time you use your mystic arte in this battle, Flynn cancels it out with his own.
I did it at the beginning just so I could finish him off with it later. For style points.

A used to be knight now turned Viglante vs a current Knight whom they share a sort of friendship as well as a rivalry ohhhhhh

That first Light Dragon Fang came in at just the right time in the conversation.
ok... so what i did was cook the croquettes which gave the party a unknown status so it could increase your attack or defense etc. have yuri, judith, rita, and estelle for this battle. and equip the best items and skills for each. after that, you always want to take out nan first because of her annoying sphere like blade. after she's done, heal everyone completely w/ estelle and go after tison w/ a 3/4 on 1 attack. hope this helped xD

Probably my favourite fight. All the fights in the tales games are the fights with someone close to you. Yuri and Estelle, Lloyd and Kratos, Luke and Asche. All great fights.

Hearts R is the FFXII. It's good, not great, but good and underrated (or overrated in some forums).
It's been awhile since I've played, but I believe they're called the Tension skills. There's 3 or 4 of them, and you get them from Yuri's sub-weapons.

After beating the game you unlock a bonus shop called the Grade Shop which allows you to buy things with your grade that slightly alter some things about the game, such as increasing the item limit or altering the amount of EXP you get from battle.
999 TP is the max amount of TP you can get, which will come naturally from leveling.

@TheGlowAngel It's not a secret event, it will happen as part of the story. IIRC, though, you have a while until you get there. This event occurs almost immediately before you can enter the final dungeon. So don't worry about missing it!
@supermariojason You gain additional attacks from certain skills. I haven't played this game in a LONG time, but I think the name of the skill was... Combo Plus? There's Combo Plus 1, 2, and 3. Plus 1 adds 1 extra attack, 2 adds 2 attacks, and 3 adds 3 attacks. I don't remember which weapons carry these skills, but I do know that Combo Plus 3 comes with the Blazor Edge Abyssion after it's been "unlocked".

Nice combo set up...I didn't know that destruction field could be used so well following it with a Final Gale...a lot of people don't like that arte (gale) but I love it...nice finishing move :P

Yeah, it's the New Bodhi Blastia. It's an attachment that, IIRC, takes a bit of effort to get the materials for. I'd recommend checking a guide if you want to get it.

I've gotten pretty far into the game right after the coliseum event. How do you get this secret event with Flynn? Can you tell me before I miss this : D
That's actually exactly why I did that. At the time of recording this, I was playing on an 18" SDTV. It was hard to read the text, much less see those tiny numbers, so I had to Magic Lens it to read the HP.
Those two are awesome, period.
Apparently it was used as part of some advertisement for PlayStation Store. So one would assume that would mean something. Unless they made a mistake.
Thanks, haha. To be honest, I didn't know that Destruction Field -> Final Gale was so good. It stunned the first time so I just went with it, lol. I eventually messed it up though, but it did do a nice bit of damage.
@Dominichunter5 Yeah, it is. It's been so long since I've played this game, so I cannot remember the name... but basically, when you get a certain number of hits, you trigger Overlimit. There are multiple levels to this skill as well. You'll notice at the end during the final Mystic Arte I actually hit Overlimit level 2 because of all the hits Savage Wolf Fury has. Sorry I can't remember the name D:
@darksonic170 This was my second run through the game. When you access New Game+, you have the opportunity to purchase bonuses with your Grade points. One of the bonuses is 10x EXP.
