I had theorycrafted my own Spell Counter Edison deck a few months ago, and this event was a good excuse to try it out before committing to a paper deck. Turns out getting out Defender or Breaker, or both, plus any card that can hold multiple spell counters is pretty solid.
You wanna know what i want to see as a format? Archtype formats, taking certain monsters and just giving us the sandbox energy. Like Red Eyes custom decks, or Hero customs, maybe do some more link climbing archtypes. I wanna see them get crafty like the players do.
I would love to see old formats come back and be a playable category. I used the Hero Loaner deck for the tryouts and when It wasn't some crazy Exodia ftk or an insane for the time constructed deck, I was able to troll my opponents to 3 victories. Baited them with a ROTA set on the field, DD Lady their big fusion monster, when they destroyed my big fusion monster I got my warriors back, etc. They couldn't surrender fast enough. My old school play style kicked in, even though I dipped before edison format, and it was a nice break from Snake-eye, horus, labyrinth, fire king, etc decks
I was having a blast in this event playing pure Cyber Dragons, but then it turned out that one of the loaner decks had three Chimeratech Fortress Dragons in the extra deck as basically filler, and that's three on-demand Lava Golems vs Cyberdragon. Talk about a quick way to ruin something awesome.
This was my first time playing this format; i really enjoyed using Helios and Gren Maju, with D.D cards to get more banishing. Wasnt the strongest but i had fun
I think one of the biggest things about them adding a new mode, is that it would get a LOT of new players into MD. I'm sure there are a ton of people who played YGO at a younger age that sees modern as too overwhelming to actually play, but wouldn't mind playing older stuff.
I’m late to both comment and this comment but man! This 2010 format made me fall in love with Six Samurai’s. I knew they were good but I didn’t know they were busted!!
I played a burn deck to start off with. Forgot my hatred for reckless greed until this event. Changed to an old school tribute stun just for fun for awhile. (Only needed 3 wins but I farmed it for awhile for fun.)
my fun decks are gem knights and choochoo(super heavy) samurai and they have been since they came out on master duel. i believe they are pretty fun to play against too.
It’s not a world record in someone book but this sure is. A freeborn atk, is like the irohozaka game mech jam corner nonsense trick that I love the AE86
Had almost the exact same moment of disbelief and fury as the Dark Hole moment here where I had a sick Torrential play, opponent had no cards in hand, and I thought that the worst thing would be if they top-decked MST so I even set a bluff and sure enough they draw it in more than 30 cards and hit the Torrential and not the bluff
More perminant game modes, especially things like old goat format or edison, would be so good for newer and returning players. And even just the variety, like all the old events have been pretty fun even with the loaner stuff
I’ve been playing this event each day since it started. My main deck has been based around synchrons, without falling too much into the Dandylion loaner deck they made.
I played Dragon Chaos essentially my goal was to either get Lord of D. and flute of summoning dragon to spam Blue Eyes while also having Red Eyes Darkness Metal and Dark Armed Dragon.
Started this video and got mega excited to see that OCG-equivalent Edison was added to Master Duel. Spent the last hour making a deck, dismantling 9 URs to craft Black Rose, Brionac, and Trishula and then went to the event page and clicked on Duel only for the pop up “Out of period.” to jump scare me. RIP
Can I suggest a new series idea? A Master Duel Series where people submit a deck for each year from 2002-2011, and do a Timelocke (Using those decks and when you lose, you go up to the next deck, and when you run out, you lose).
So the funny thing about this mode. Draw Both Nobleman cards. Play them. Opponent most likely surrenders. If they don't. You know what they're gonna play. Anyway. I attempted to make a deck surrounding Arcanite Magician . Aside from like 2 duels. I ended up getting stun/stall decks that made me go. "Alright. I have more cards in my deck. I'm booting up Marvel vs Capcom to lab some combos while you figure out your field situation. I GOT ALL DAY."
Since this is a synchro format i used it against it. Playing cards that banish and like being banished(along with my opponent)running macro cosmos and Dimension Fissure to limit graveyard recover and monsters that banish or bounce their synchro monsters to their hand(technically back to the ED), wall of illusion,Gale Lizard,Penguin Soldier ect for banish DD warrior and DD warrior lady. Backrow hate like Dust tornado,Mst and Breaker and Marsh,battle Fader and Reaper to help hold the line Also cards being banished only benefited me because with my continuous spell i gained LP every time a card was banished. Also not to forget burn damage. Some love to attack i love to play defense and see if they can brake my defense. I won matches without launching a single attack 😉. Duke it out in the trenches and let them waste all their resources.
Please Ra above, ask Komoney to put actual Edison format following TCG into master duel and keep it. Or at least a custom mode already. Idk how they fumble a bag this hard
i want both time travel events to stay and i also want them to bring back the NR format . that lower power scale makes it so much more approachable . for this event i made 5 different decks i was that inspired. i played gadget machina, hero diva beat down. i even tried some stupid stuff with genex. yeah it sucked but i was having alot of fun cause i was trying out and expirmenting in a format where i felt i was having more fun
Doing an anime monologues outloud on yugioh is fire my opponent has a board full of negates "HAHAHAHA I PLAY THE SPELL CARD DARK RULER NO MORE THIS CARD WILL NEGATE ALL YOUR MONSTER EFFECTS" with the next 3 minutes consisting of slowly destroying the board

Six Samurai my guy. That was my jam. I was never really good, my deck was kinda badly built. But goddaaaaamn did I love the samurai deck.

Love me some Psychics in 2010 format. Thought Ruler Archfiend is like my favorite card ever.
This mode was fun. It was good to play Infernities again, even without Barrier.
We want more formats! I love playing Edison and GOAT. It’s a great comfort to play after getting tired of modern yugioh.
