  • If you are looking for new places to ride a motorcycle in the Northeast, give Northeastern Pennyslvannia a look. They've got good roads, nice scenery and an interesting history/culture.
Here are some of the better roads I found in the area:
Route 487 North from Red Rock
    Route 87 East from Dushore
    Route 187 North to Wysox
    Route 467 East from Wysox
    Route 167 South from Montrose
    Route 11 South to Nicholson

I need to go back there! My buddies and I went to Jim Thorpe one day and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Beautiful area and we geeked out at the Jim Thorpe memorial park.

This is my stomping grounds. Ride almost all these roads on a weekly basis. I thought it was my little secret how great it is out here. Glad you enjoyed it

Yes, thanks, I love that area. Haven't been back in a few years. I don't think it will ever get too crowded though. ha ha

Great video. I'm also from Mass but spent 4 years working on the gas rigs in that same area you went riding. I always wanted to take a bike there but work wouldn't allow. The cool part is that the main roads are about the only ones that are paved. The back roads are 90% dirt in that area. And you got lucky only seeing one deer. I used to have to dodge herds of them on my way to the rigs.

Thanks for the feedback! We've got to go back there on ADV bikes then! I find that part of PA to be very interesting. Thanks for sharing that insight.

+Erik Z Thanks for the feedback...yes, I am going to try that graphite grease. I have found that the locks have eased up with some time and use. The bike was perfect on this trip though.

Great Video, just moved back to PA and watching this made me even more impatient for the weather to clear up so I can try these routes out.

Where you rode really is not in the coal region. You want to go further south into Schuylkill, Northumberland, Carbon (Jim Thorpe is a nice town), Columbia Counties. Ride these areas alot, especially Schuylkill and Carbon. I also like to ride in Pa. Dutch Country. Stay safe.......also, I have relatives up there in Mass. Went up there my whole life.

Thanks for the clarification. I have been down to Jim Thorpe...great area. I need to get out there more and explore. Any specific areas you would recommend?

Nice video, misleading title - this is Northeast PA, not Western. Driven the interstates there a lot - now want to get back on the bike and check out the roads you were on.

I can't believe I missed that and that no one else caught it. Thank you so much for the correction!
