Shawn is a real talent and a awesome addition and what a great fit for the rest of the Fab Rats crew.
Oh you bet he's awesome.
For sure great addition god bless you all 🙏🙏
@@danialbargas2203ty. God bless you too.
Okay Shawn stop adding comments about yourself :)
As always, can’t get enough of the fab rats family! Also I really like Michelle’s editing style, the cuts are funny, I love the little captions and tidbits that’ll pop up on screen too. You can really see how much everyone’s learned about being on camera and gotten so natural and I think that’s what keeps us all around. That and the just downright incredible people!
Pretty sure they employed an editor a while back, I remember them introducing him.
After Rory's disaster, I would think of fitting a snorkel on the old FJ.
Rory's disaster was self inflicted. He knows better but let the kid inside get the better of him. LOL
Mounting that joint sideways like that is insane. Using the bushing for vertical movement is going to destroy it quick
Yeah, I'm wondering if they've noticed, or if this is their plan.
I was thinking the same thing
Isn't that a Heim joint that's spherical? It might not even notice.
Its a Johnny Joint or some knock off copy. Look at the RockJock Jeep TJ front trackbar, they have the joint run the same way.
I thinking similar, but they probably know something I don't. They'll probably show us if it gets shredded though haha
Shawn is one of them slow taking dudes that thinks about what he is going to say or do. He would be a great member of any team.👍
That lower link joint , is not designed to flex that way. If you leave it that way it is going to break.
My dad always said anything worth doing once is worth doing again.
lol, I just want to see them do well on 24 hr hell and back, and that will cripple them
It's a Johnny Joint, it's fine. You can see the ends of the pivot ball sticking out past the rod end. A standard bushing sleeve wouldn't be like that.
More flex left to right. Lost it going up and down. That's how I see it. We will see.
If you push it past the range of motion it would be an issue. Paul showed there was plenty of extra room in it past full droop so it'll be fine. I would be more concerned about the geometry change but not my rig so I am not gonna overthink it.
Hunter has the "Spider-Man Tingle" lol dudes reflexes are insane!
Watching Paul measure stuff has me convinced that the RATS in Fab Rats stands for Right About There Sean! 😂
And I’m here for it! Love this channel!
This old fella just loves watching you guys fabricate. Just can't get enough of this channel ❤
Shouldn't the frame-mounted link brackets be oriented to permit the control arms to swing or pivot vertically at the end rather than horizontally? As mounted you are counting on the heim end to provide all the range of movement in the vertical plane as the front axle suspension varies in length rather than the bolt mount. Just thinking.....
I was thinking the same thing.
Yeah, it's not a great idea to run them that way
Yep, this is the 3rd time he's done those mounts and he still hasn't got it right.
DUDE!!! Hunter has some flippin reflexes… caught both the hammer and the clamp when they fell and bare in mind, he wasn’t expecting them to fall at all! Amazing 🤩
Spiderman
True
When he's got the bite from the black widow spyder
Aracnid senses
Awesome
Yeah.. but he's also a klutz who keeps knocking things over from his lack of awareness. He wouldn't have to catch it if he just didn't knock it down in the first place. So you can look at it both ways.
What?!? He (accidentally) PUSHED the hammer off the lift arm; of course he knew it was going to fall.
Fake news.
We need a Fab 101 segment for all of us beginners!
I love the ability to just " wing it " when necessary.
"Wing'ing it' is why they had to redo all these things. :) . Because they just "winged it' the first time.
It's better to think things through 20 times and make sure you covered all your issues. They do pretty well though..
@@calholli Little of column A, little of column B. You can overthink it and you still won't think of everything until you actually make it and it becomes obvious. If you have the materials/money it's much faster to just make something that lets you test it in the real world and find all of your problems the easy way.
@@Psyco913 I agree.. if you tac everything and moc it up.. But when they just full bore weld everything together as they go- then they have to cut it all back off.. It's just not for me. I do a lot more thinking and testing when I fabricate and do all the finish welding at the very end.... On this whole video-- I feel like they went backwards.. The rod ends aren't even facing the right way now.. and all they needed to do is add a long triangle gusset in front of their old mounts, so that it acts as an on ramp from the slider.. done. instead, they did a lot of work and made it a little worse IMO. I guess it still works; but they'll probably have to change those bushings often now, since it's constantly trying to rip on them with every bump you hit.
@@calholli I mean they seem to be tacking things to test the fit first for the most part. They just rushed the finish welding there when they thought it was good and realized later that it wasn't going to work. I'm definitely guilty of that one myself.
It is cool to see how much more comfortable Shawn is in front of the camera than when he started. He's come a long way.
I thought those rear stabilizer arms (I’m not a wheel’er, so please forgive my terminology) needed to pivot to allow suspension travel, yet you moved them up onto the frame mounted sideways (bolt is vertical). Won’t that cause that rubber bushing to flex a lot more and wear out in a fraction of the time?
And now the plate covers the bolt. Seems like a point of more frequent failure and way harder to get at it to repair. 😮
I noticed that right away and I'm surprised they didn't think about that.
You're absolutely correct those bushings are not meant to be constantly flexing like that, the whole point of mounting the bolt through the middle so they can pivot on the bolts axis
Isn't that a spherical Heim joint and not a rubber bushing?
Sean, Ben and Hunter work well together, they tease each other, they are all cool in their own way...they make the Fab Rats Team tick like a fine watch...and they're a lot of fun to watch...awesome!
This Fab Rats team is so awesome with making these modifications and fabrications. Sean, Ben, Hunter and Paul have got it together fixing the FJ.
Could not agree more….great team great team work…love the FJ ,
I seen Ben put up a you tube channel and was worried he would be leaving fab rats. I am glad he is still here, the channel would not be the same without him. Sean and Ben work great together, and with Paul. IT IS A PERFECT FIT.
35 and 1 Quarter - ha ha ha good job, editor!
So glad this channel is doing good and the crew just keeps growing with good people.
Nice catch hunter
Paul, a quick trick for locating blind holes to transfer to sheet or plate steel....put a little grease on the blind side, press the steel into place, and the grease should transfer the location of the blind holes/objects onto the steel. Cheers! Great work.
Wouldn’t have worked here. Pipes straight cut and angle plate. Only the lower apex of the pipe would touch and that’s only if the plate could be placed perfectly in place the first shot without smearing the grease.
Isn't the pivot on the frame for that rear bar going the wrong direction ? Wants to swing up/down and it's set up for right/left ?
Good show, Boys and Girls.
You guys put your heads together and create some pretty awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.👍😎🇺🇸
you welded the control link holder on side ways when it should be up and down it can flex up a little but if it flexes down it will pinch and break
Enjoying the editor snark as they're working on the chassis. "they ended up needing to cut more"
i started off watching matts offroad recovery but after eds golden nugget, fabrats episodes are what i look forward to the most. the bombee is pretty sweet though, when are you going to get one paul?
Y’all brighten my day. This is so unscripted and real life. I feel like the fly on the wall of the shop laughing my wings off!! 🙂
Good morning Fabrats.
Paul's kindergarten photo is amazing. ❤️😂
Wow couldnt sleep last night so i am rewarded with an early morning Fab Rats video and its on the FJ.. Yahtzee..Nice useful upgrades. Thx team for the countless hours of entertainment. I appreciate you all.
It amazes me how much you guys have improved and entertained over the years. Your right that Hunter has been a big addition to the shop. He has the fastest hands with the great catches he made today. Can't wait to see the new shop in action.
I love the new background music
love Hunter's cat like reflexes.. the Fj is just getting better and better!!
Paul, and all of you gents. SAFETY glasses or I will get Grandma Lolie after you all. Love this channel.
I think it's funny where automotive engineers spend their lifetimes designing shit and then Fab Rats comes along and shows them what works. No fancy degrees, no fancy equipment. Love you guys!
*Thank you for a very good video. Valuable leason learned!* 👍❤😊
Three merry men making art on wheel ❤
I love the way you guys work together as team. The cutting up with each other is a good way that makes this channel fun to watch. Thanks for sharing.
Ben and Sean rock. Major props to ya’lls editors. (Superman)
That plasma cutter is so handy
Cutting and notching the supports for the rock sliders that are what the lift is holding the vehicle in the air by is a bigger flex than I've got the stomach for.
Dang Hunter that was some OLD MAN SPEED !!!😂😂😂
One of the best episodes. Love watching the Fab process. Great viewing.
I bet I'm not just talking for myself when I say that Hunter's work is very much appreciated
you guys knock out some killer projects, looks fantastic
That's what they call a Roll of Dimes Hunter !!😂😂
This is the “Hunter catches falling stuff” episode! Good thing you have him around! Love your videos!
One things for sure you have a great crew!!! Love the FJ!!!
First failure point will be the rubber bushing mounted sideways, unless you guys swapped them out with a Heim joint and I missed it
It's a Johnny Joint, like a heim but stronger. Instead of misalignment spacers, it uses an internal pivot ball for movement.
Good morning everybody and thumbs UP to Fab Rats! 👍
sweetie!🐿🐿🐿
@@JanelleVocate-Ames 👋🐿🐿
your link mounts should be aligned with the bar in a neutral position.
Since Hunter is Camera Man Extraordinaire, one might think he set up all those camera angles just to capture himself catching the hammer and clamp on pure reflex alone. 😉
The FJ looks amazing and should conquer 24 To Hell and Back with ease.
The YOTA goes from being a Super Beast that is extremely capable to being a Super Duper Beast that is even more capable. Nice.
All of you do a great job. love this channel
I appreciate Hunters appreciation.
Didn’t you place the front mount for rear trailing arm 90 degrees off? Aren’t you causing the rubber (poly) to absorb all of the articulation rather than the hinge pin?
I was surprised when he mounted it that way too.
I believe it's a johnny joint. There's a pivot ball in the rod end that can rotate freely, similar to a heim joint. He used the same joints for the frame end on Jace's Dakota.
Hunter adds some good jokes and commentary to the videos 👍👍👍
Paul were you Hunters Little League Coach? He sure is skilled at catching things in flight. May have to change his name to Hoover! He catches everything hammers, clamps, and the shots!
Hunter, ignore all the negative comments. Most of us appreciate you getting the up-close shots for us. If it wasn't for you we'd be watching from a tripod.😊
Looking good 👍🏻 you should have Robby wrap the FJ in all fab rats colors and logos that would look so sweet Paul
Hunter is the Catchenist Champion!!!
We need to get y'all some sponsors!!
The time lapse on the left side of the vehicle shows us Hunter's industrious character; the camera is static, so he's not fliming, but he's sweeping up junk and finding useful things to do; atta boy Hunter!
And the shop kitty-cat seems not to be concerned with noise, sparks, etc!
Good morning Fab Rats and Community!
Thanks guys..I’ve been planning to do this to my TJ and this was the kick in the rear I needed. I have equally as bad a rear lower link mounts as you and I might see if a side mount like that will work for me. Who says Hunter doesn’t do stuff..he’s the camera man and he actually instigates a lot of the conversation and work descriptions that make these videos awesome!
In Ben's defense, if I'm not mistaken, he was sick on the triangle day. It should be a shop holiday from now on. TRIANGLE DAY!
Always an enjoyable time watching the creativity craftsmanship and teamwork of the Fab Rats team! Thank You for sharing everything you do with us fans!
I've watched 24hrs to hell and back for a couple years and am so glad you are going this year
Making it what ya wanted. Looks good. It has come a long way.
Good morning, Fab Rats! I love seeing you all in the shop doing what you do best! Til next time, take care, and we'll see you on the next...
Great crew. Knocking it out of the park.
The Fab Rats logo would look great on that plate, backlit.
Nice work fellers! That cordless Milwaukee circular saw really works! Hey Paul,,, cut the sheet! LOL🤣
GOOD JOB EVERYONE!
After this video, Hunter needs a raise!
Awesome to have 2 welders in one project, makes it faster and efficient. Good job guys.....
Glad to see you’re still maintaining ‘do it right, cuz we do it twice’. 3 times on passenger side + 1 time in the other= avg of two. 👍
And nice background music too!
So . just wondering . Why not weld nut on top of bracket for the long tube things so you can run bolt up through bottom and not worry about getting wrench in that small space ? Could have welded nut on bracket then weld bracket to frame
Shawn and Ben are great folks to have on the Fab Rats team Paul! Even Hunter is adding more and more to the content. Keep up all the good work guys!
you guys always rip it, great videos, and you make us feel like we could do this one day.
More teamwork making the dream work, have a great week and God bless amen.
Hey Paul, won’t that 4 link joint bind at that angle? Afraid you are going to limit your flex. Maybe moving it back, and changing then angle will prevent it from binding, give your more flex and prevent breakage on 24?
?!
you saw them fully articulate the axle to check ... so i guess they've got that covered
Bravo Hunter! Nice catch on that hammer. You tapped into the the speed force!
You should take the FJ to where Matt got ALL his equipment stuck and show him how it's done.
At 11:49 Hunter, You turned on a light from somewhere to highlight the work. Good Work! Thank you.
The ol' FJ is shaping up! Those enclosures are looking really good!! You guys are all really good at building, designing, fabricating, welding and shenanigans!! LOL!! Loved this channel from the first video I saw!!
NOW those are sliders !!!!!!!! 👍🏽👍🏽🙃😀
Why do you install the control arm mounts sideways? Asking for a friend 😜
You know if you mount your tires 90 degrees off also you'll improve your turning radius too.
The boat sides are awesome! It would be cool to see some old school fender headers and run into side pipes , and the side pipes double as rock rails
Hunter is the Nickleback of CZcams.
Paul, Your boy Hunter has some absolutely outstanding reflexes! You have got to watch the part of the video that he catches a real heavy hammer 🔨. IN-MID-AIR!!
Hunter will know exactly where it’s at in the video. So please, Paul, please get him to show you. No I’m moving on to this part of my comment.
Shawn is truly, truly an excellent addition to the team! Ben & Shawn round out an unbelievable! Unbeatable!! Unbreakable!!! NUMBER 1-FAB-RATS-TEAM!!
Paul you and the guys have a lot of talent putting together stuff now that you have worked on so much stuff when will we see Michelle's Jeep come into the shop lol you know a happy wife a happy life Paul I think Fab rats is the best thing out
I saw that this video already had 13k likes and thought, “Wow, I remember that they barely had 13k subscribers when I first subscribed.” I’ve always been happy to see their success.
Fab Rats is the ultimate “A Team” love your channel 🫶🏻🩶💛
Who remembers that Matt was the first camera 📸🤳 guy 🎉🎉
Paul’s side look at @9:03 lmao!! I have no idea why I find it so funny
Country jangles, nice addition 👌
Great job as always, love the way you guys all get along.
