I feel like Walt Disney World was Roy's final gift from Walt, to allow Roy to find his true creative abilities. Ot was likewise Roy's final gift to Walt. He put himself into it 100 percent, just as Walt did with Disneyland.

I am a huge fan of Walt. However, based entirely on what I've found researching him, I am absolutely certain that without Roy, we never would have heard of Walt Disney. I don't think Walt would have made it, at least not to the extent that he did, without Roy. An amazing brother and just a really good person.

Roy stay alive just long enough to see his brothers ambitions and dreams to fruition and make them a reality. He Strived to make it happen, I've said for years that There is no Kingdom or empire or Walt without Roy, I tell people all the time that the man deserves his due, He held the fort down, weathered storms and financial crisis after crisis and allowed Walt to bet and gamble when he felt it prudent to do so, And through all of it, Roy and Walt over came it and Roy gave his last breath in doing so to make his little brother he adored so much Proud. The Magic Kingdom in Orlando opens, and Roy has given everything he had left to make it happen. It's so beautiful and symbolic that his love for his brother was what kept the maddening dream going and he accomplished it. Shame Neither could be there for EPCOT but they gave the world a beautiful and lasting Magical gift.

Walt and Roys story is truly the American dream.
I wish they would have touched on Walts time he spent in St. Louis, producing trailers for local theaters, before going to Kansas City, where his early "studio" still stands.
Some interesting trivia, St. Louis was in the running to get a Disney World on the riverfront.

Walt died right as the hippie movement was coming on. He died at just the right time. Always leave them wanting more. Had he lived he would have gotten a few more hits out of the parks, but for those that know Disney's history in the 70s when the hippies were everywhere, the parks and the films struggled. Especially the parks. Walt would probably have caught the blame for some of that had he not exited at the apex of his empire.

Walt was famous for saying he wasn't a very good artist, which is where your ignorance stems from. But he was an artist. He just left it to people he knew were better once he could afford to hire them. He created Mickey, his wife named him, and Ub refined him into the first iteration. This is also very easy to find if you would just put even the tiniest effort into fact checking. But I know, you'd RATHER spread slanderous BS about some guy who never did anything to you.

@@buster5661 LMFAOOOOO! Such confident ignorance. You need to join a circus. A 5-second google search will turn up numerous artworks drawn by Walt Disney himself, from childhood onwards. 5 more seconds will tell you that he created Mickey, his wife named him, and then Ub Iwerks improved him until Walt liked him and that's where he came from. Ub never denied this, he worked for Walt off and on throughout his entire life and called him a friend. When people say things like what you've said, you can be sure they know NOTHING of Walt outside of some tabloid level garbage picked up from some fearmongering "Disney conspiracies" video hosted by an adderall fueled 14 year old who has pulled it all out of his rear end.

I met Roy in Augusta Michigan in 1978, as a Guest of Donald and Genevieve Gilmore at the Upjohn Company estate, Brook Lodge. This was the former home of WE Upjohn.
Donald and Walt were friends with adjacent ranches in Palm Springs. It was rumored that Donald Duck was modeled after Donald Gilmore, and having worked for The Gilmore's i can easily see the resemblance. Donalds hair was always standing up on top, like Donald Duck's feathers when he was upset, and yes, he made a ducky face.
