The “one of us, one of us, gooble gobble gooble gobble” is from the 1932 movie “Freaks” where a freak show in a traveling circus accept a new member into the group by passing a drink around and chanting that line. It’s been parodied a bunch through the years.

Smith's false claim that a black man had kidnapped her sons

nationwide search for them, she confessed on November 3,
1994, to letting her car roll into nearby John D. Long Lake,

to facilitate a relationship with a local wealthy man named
Tom Findlay. Prior to the murders he sent Smith a letter ending
their relationship and expressing that he did not want children.

The car thing was indeed based on a real case. I can't remember it all but if I recall correctly, it happened in the early 90s, there were 2 children in the car and it was a really big story at the time. I want to say the mother's name was Susan Smith? (I could be getting multiple cases mixed up though and I haven't looked it up. This is just off the top of my head). I don't recall if the "some Puerto Rican guy" reference was from that case specifically, but there definitely was a high profile case where the parents claimed the kidnapper was "some black guy." That was also parodied in the movie The Cable Guy, where there was a case parodying the Menendez Brothers (who killed their parents). The characters blamed "some Asian guy" and when asked what language he was speaking, they said "I think it was Asian"
Also, I did a double take when the name Chris was given for Butters' father. I didn't remember that that was his name originally. They changed it to Steven at some point, but I've only ever remembered him as Steven, so this episode surprised me.

I love South Park and have seen every episode. Many multiple times. Some upwards of 10 or 15 times, probably. But... the reality is it's a show that has been on TV now for coming up on 30 years... reacting to every single episode would be a huge undertaking.
But then again it looks like this channel has become pretty much 100% a South Park reaction channel... if he DID decide to do that and managed to get through 2 episodes a week... unless my math is wrong I think that would only take a little over 3 years to finish the whole series? Maybe 4 years if you throw in the movie, all the various specials, and then the next 4 seasons' worth of shows that come out in the meantime... I guess it's doable.

One of us, One of us, One of us"
The chant is from the 1932 cinema classic "Freaks" starring genuine sideshow performers and real human oddities."
A "normal" person marries one of the Freaks. This chant is how the freaks welcome her into their world.
When my brother got married and I was asked to say a few words welcoming his new wife into the family, well only one approach to seemed right:
"We accept her, One of us.
    Gooble Goble Gooble Goble
We accept her, We accept her
    Gooble Goble Gooble Goble
One of us, One of us, One of us."

This is one of the only episodes in the entire series that made Matt and Trey (creators) genuinely apologize for what they did to them. After this episode aired, case filings eventually went public, allowing the public to see the full scope of evidence including much of what proved their innocence.
Mrs Ramsey also passed away after the episode aired due to cancer.
So, as far as that couple was concerned, the two creators did try to issue an apology for insinuating they killed their daughter.

I used to have a book called "OJ's Notepad" and it looked like the lined yellow paper notepad they were always writing in durring the oj trial. It had doodles in it like the name "nicole" written in bubble letters, phrases written 4x like "i didn't kill her!" but with a line under a different word each time it was written as though he were testing where to put the emphasis at to make it sound the most convincing, and other assorted creative things someone who was 100% lying would be trying to figure out to get away with it... funniest book of 1996

  • @wilmeraderbertflorezlopez6991

Besides the comedy and all... this episode is so precious, it makes you think in the harms that lying can do to your loved ones and to yourself. This is pure katharsis.
