I am just seeing this now. I remember the story line of Lawrence coming out as gay. I was in junior high school then, and I remember all the teachers and students talking about it.
Thank you to Lynn Johnston for making such a wonderful comic strip. I was truly sad to see it come to an end, but heck yeah it was a great run!

Thank you so much for posting this interview. I am 47 years old. My mother who is 80 is moving back to Canada from Japan. She kept calendars 2001, 2002, 2003, 2007 year of For Better or For Worse. I read through the comic strips in the calendars and all these memories of how much I loved this comic came back...I remember can't waiting for the Saturday comic section of the Toronto Star to come through the mail slot. I would be so happy to read Ms. Lynn Johnston's comic. Now that I think about it, For Better or for Worse helped shaped my image of a family. Ms. Johnston illustrated the hardships and rewards of having a family. Parenting isn't an easy job. Children can be a challenge to raise. However, so much joy, happiness, and love can be seen through that. Today I am a mother of two children. When I raised my children, I kept recalling For Better or for Worse. I am truly thankful to Ms. Johnston for her comic and for this interview. It's so wonderful to see the comic artist who inspired me as a child on CZcams. To Ms. Johnston, I miss your comic and wish Japanese could read your comics too. I am so happy to be Canadian because we have one of the world's best comic artist. Thank you, thank you, thank you. God bless you.

I have been reading this comic since junior high school. I remember that the character of April is three months older than my daughter, so because the comic was happening in real time, me and the Elly character were pregnant at the same time. I liked how the strip was serialized unlike other comics where the characters never age.

I will not read your strip anymore. Since you had Farley passed away, it was so sad that I could not believe that happened.
The comic pages are for fun and not tragedy.
