  • There is not a ton of detail in this short video, but it might help get you started on changing both combustion air filters and the variator air filter.

Thanks man, thinking about grabbing one of these from the local bike shop.

Nice simple explanation. So glad you didn't try to video the process and shake the camera the whole time. I feel like I'm ready to change the filters now. I think I'll change all the nuts with torx or star bit type screws. Hope the bike is serving you well. I picked up a 2006 last October with only 8kmiles on it, and a few scratches. Changed the oil and oil filter last night.

I hope it all went well Richard. My scooter was idling roughly and would die at stops. The performance improvement was like night and day with new filters and a fresh spark plug. Now it idles fine and spins up like a champ.

I just got one yamaha majesty and i’m doing the maintenance by myself seen videos on youtube, and I saw this motorcycle has 3 air filters, in the video you change 2 air filters, right?

I replaced the two on the left side, and one on the right side, for a total of 3 filters changed. At the 1:55 mark you can see the left side with the covers removed.

quick question.....the only air filter i was unable to gain access to was the left side one in which you have to remove the passenger footrest. Is there only 2 screws you have to remove to remove it? Thanks!

Japan won the war, apparently. This is their revenge. Idiotically difficult things which need not be.

How do you remove that little circular panel that covers one of the screws? Just pry it out with a flathead?

That is what I did. They pop out

TheToppingGroup I used a flathead and popped them off. Thank you!

Absolutely obnoxious how's there's more than one Air filter and the amount of stupid time it takes to screw around for the formerly Simple air filter change.

Are you using JIS screwdrivers? Try soaking the screw with a penetrant.
