I used a magnetic mount and put it on my driver side left AC vent so it does not block the screen or AC control. It only slightly blocks my air flow and keeps my phone from overheating in the hot summer days.
I don't know if it was said or not but its to note lower trim Rav4 don't have the same AC vent in the center. I have a normal XLE and i don't have the wheel to close the vent. so some those mounts don't work. the one i use hooks the vent and is the same set up a the first one. I have an S22 ultra and the case i have had the metal plate in it to use for those mounts
There are few air vent mount holders with an extension that avoid blocking the infotainment screen view. The only downside is you can't freely adjust the vent, but you have a two in front on each driver and passenger side so not a major issue.
There are ones made specific for vehicles, but they are stupid expensive. They hook into the trim, I was going to get one for the Rav and Sienna I didn’t bother after, nice video! We’re you able to find the hardware separate. I’d like to use my wireless charger on the trim mount as it has the standard ball joint. Right now it’s a clothespin style clip on the centre vent.
For those that do not have the vent adjustments next to the hazard button, does the clip still work? Or is there a version that works for those who do not have those adjustments?
It would have been more helpful if you install a case on the iPhone. we all know the the iPhone will fit, the question is will they work with a case installed.
It looks like every single one of these mounts attaches in the same place, which is too far down and over from where I want my eyes to be (forward). I previously had my mount right up on the dash next to the nav screen, and it was so easy. The 2020 RAV-4 has ruined that plan! No smooth or straight surfaces anywhere! Why is literally every surface textured, and curved? I think I'm just going to have to attach a magnetic mount onto the dash with a strong epoxy (which is obviously an irreversible solution).
Car manufacturer are stupid they didn’t leave a bit of space to mount cell phone holder ,look how the screen i big and ugly plus the vents are too low.some big ugly screens it’s very ugly.
Forgive me, what is the point of putting a phone mount in a car with apple car play? Isn't the main selling point of apple car play that everything is hands-free and one doesn't need to use their actual phone for anything?

I find the seat height a bit too high on the rav4 and headroom a bit tight, any ideas on how to lower the seats with different brackets for example?

I never used one in my 2 years of owning this rav4. But people may need it for Uber, Lyft, doordash. Etc. apps that are not supported on CarPlay.
