    Yeah LeBron is a massive human. Listed at 6'9, about 115 kg. In his physical prime he was simultaneously one of the strongest, fastest, and most powerful players to ever play the game, and honestly he still is, although not as much as before.

    Goaltending generally includes either making contact with the ball while the ball is over the cylinder of the rim, making contact with the ball after it's apex (on the way down), or making contact with the ball after it has touched the backboard (layup attempt). There are a couple more rules but they rarely come into play.

    Goaltending is when the ball is on the way down, OR over the cylinder, OR if the defender makes contact with the rim (net also)--OR if the ball gets to the backboard before contact is made by the defender.

  • @thereallyst
    @thereallyst Před rokem +1

    -It's goal tending also if the ball touches the glass first BEFORE the block contact is made. If the ball touches the cylinder, you can't just take it off the rim like in International rules basketball. Also can't poke a ball out of the cylinder, like sticking your hand through the rim to block a ball.

    For most of his career LeBron's has been I would say an average defender. In the latter part of his career he has become more and more of a below average defender, but that is to be expected with age. He never really averaged a whole lot of blocks, but one thing that must be said is that he always came up clutch defensively when his team needed him the most. He definitely also has the flashiness to his blocks, whenever he puts that maximum effort on the defensive end. Using that athletic 6 foot 9 frame, he's a freakin beast

    Bill Russell would block the ball to the outlet man to start a fast break or catch the ball and start it. Same with Wilt Chamberlain. Most of LeBron's blocks result in the opponent getting it back in their own end or inbounding from the baseline under their own hoop--the block was useful, but not very functional in the end for the team. Here is the clip of a 17 year-old Wilt Chamberlain catching the ball and starting the fast break on his own (remember he was 7'1"!): czcams.com/video/ZmBc8NX_oL8/video.html. A short one of Wilt v. Russell. This one is of Bill Russell generally: czcams.com/video/nWFsL4Y8RVA/video.html Russell averaged 8.1 blocks/game during his career. Compare that to the leaders now.

      I'm sorry but that simply isn't true. lol He was phenomenal, absolutely. But there were still superstars balling in the NBA when he got there. And you can also argue that because he had all this hype coming in that he was always going to win Rookie of the Year no matter what but Carmello arguebly had the better season. And even Dwayne Wade was balling at an extremely high level. Like if you weren't a massive fan during that time you may not remember this, but there was legitimate debates going around that Carmllo was better. Now I know its hard to believe in retrospect, but at the time it was a real conversation. Hell, Carmelo was orginally supposed to join Wade and James in Miami instead of Bosh. I'm sure there are plenty of articles from that time you could look up. But just wanted to say that your statement is a tad hyperbolic. He was top teir, but not hovering above everyone else in his rookie year. If anything his rookie year you just saw his potential for what he was eventually going to turn into.
