Furikake Chicken Recipe
Ingredients:
For the sauce
1 cup shoyu amzn.to/3Bx0sPa
1 cup brown sugar amzn.to/3Rzi9n5
4 cloves of garlic, minced
1 inch knob of ginger, thinly sliced
2 green onions, thinly sliced, plus more for garnishing
1 teaspoon Maika’i Organic Nori Furikake, plus more for garnishing
For the chicken
Cooking oil of choice
1 ½ cup all purpose flour amzn.to/3Bbbc4q
½ teaspoon garlic powder amzn.to/3RzqMO9
¼ teaspoon pepper amzn.to/3eJoHAZ
¼ teaspoon salt amzn.to/3qslGYn
2 pounds chicken thighs
Directions:
1. For the sauce: To a large bowl, add shoyu, sugar, garlic, ginger, green onions, and furikake. Mix until well combined and the sugar has dissolved. Set aside.
2. For the chicken: Heat cooking oil of choice in a large saucepan over medium high heat. While the oil is heating up, start on the chicken.
3. To a large bowl, add flour, garlic powder, pepper, and salt. Mix until well combined.
Dip chicken into flour mixture until well coated. Shake off the excess and place in the oil heated to 350F. Fry for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until an internal temperature of 165F. Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
4. Dip the hot chicken into the shoyu sauce and let it soak for a few seconds. Remove from the sauce and set aside.
5. Serve with sticky white rice and macaroni salad. Garnish chicken with green onions and furikake. ENJOY!

Aloha! Just saw you with Lanai on his Cooking Hawaiian Style! Yay! Good luck and enjoy being on national TV. I will be watching! 🫶
Mahalo!!
When is your cookbook coming out?
Aw you're too kind. Definitely something I'm thinking about.
My wife uses shelving liner as a way to keep the cutting board from moving around. When I cook thick chicken thighs, I get a paring knife and cut two fairly deep slits along the bone so the heat can access the center of the thigh. Great Video!!!
Great tip. Mahalo.

Perfect recipe Tita! Thing about Hawaiian culture is we have a little bit of influence from other cultures which came from plantation days and sharing food.. But yea we nevah started that pineapple pizza- cuz if we did it would've had Portuguese sausage or spam🤣
