I've been an Arsenal fan for 53 years now and this interview is excellent. When Mikel Arteta was given the job, I said to my mates, "Give Arteta five years and he'll win the Premier League for Arsenal" which they just laughed at. We've come very close to winning it twice during this period. Last season we won 28 games and had the best defence and still lost it by just 2 points..without an out and out striker. There is a real belief and the atmosphere at the Emirates is brilliant. Arteta took over a squad that just wasn't good enough..and yet we still won the FA Cup that season! I like Arteta's ruthless and he didn't mess about getting rid of the players who were just happy to pick up their wages every week. He's brought the young players through, and has bought players who have slotted in. Arteta said "Trust the process" and it's working very well. He's also brought in players with experience. Jorginho was a steal at £12M. Odegaard just £30M. And Declan Rice cost £105M..how much would he be worth now! I firmly believe this will be our season. I like Edu too. He was a very good player for us..and both he and Arteta work really well together. And the coaching staff are excellent too. Just think back to when Arteta started his first full season after winning the cup. We were bottom of the league. People were calling for Arteta to be sacked. I said give him time and he will turn our fortunes around. And I'm glad that Edu and the board stuck by him. We're playing brilliant football, and making Odegaard captain was a masterstroke. When we signed Havertz, some fans were saying he wasn't good enough for us..and now he's loved by the fans..for £65M..that's very good business! Things are great for Arsenal right now..and they're only going to get better!

But as he says, the club can only be successful with everyone following one direction. "How to define success?" is an excellent question for each club. Can be answered in so many nuances. The job of DOF at that time was Raul Sanllehi who supported his manager Emery by signing Pepe when Emery wanted Zaha. Edu only took only his duties of Sanllehi after he was fired in 2020. For me the most important part of Edu-Arteta era is the change in mentality . After 2004 invincibles and Viera left , we could never get back to our old mentality. Even in 2007-2008 era with Fabregas , Nasri etc. we were never feared by opponents. With Wenger trying to replicate Barcelona tiki-taka with short midfielders at young age , I used to watch those games in awe of how good we used to play but also being wary of how vulnerable we were mentally and physically . I have lost the count of how many times, we lost a lead or crumbled in the last minutes . Only now in last year I see our mentality coming back. Opponents have started fearing and respecting Arsenal again. Our players are again tall and well built and don’t shy away from challenges and don’t give up till last minute. I see winning games which we were losing. There are still some obstacles to overcome but I am very excited what future holds.
Right now, Arsenal's squad is worth 300 million pounds more, then it was bought for. In terms of squad value, we are 3rd in all big comps with only Real Madrid and City above us, with City have 4 more players. That is massive, when you remember the days of a Sokratis, Luiz, Mustafi backline. You really can't ask more as a fan. Trophies, yes, but trophies should be a natural outcome of good management. And in terms of squad building we really could not have done much better than we did.

Listening to Theo Walcott during the US tour has confirmed the fears I had for years during the Wenger era. Walcott said that the mindset Arsenal had then was to finish top 4. But that Mikel Ateta has revolutionized the current Gunner squad. What a time of rejoicing awaits us Gooners who are desperately thirsty for EPL title and Champion League trophy. We're simply fed up with the FA cup 15th win.

Missed invincibles, support Arsenal because of euro 2004, Sweden vs Netherlands penalty shoot out, freddie ljungberg penalty off the bar, onto the grass, up and goal & back down again. 6 years old mesmerised me, came up with Freddie Ljungberg Arsenal Ever since then been a massive gooner. Never seen a league title and always poor in the CL. Best football but fragile and well beaten at times too. Arteta and Edu have rocked my world. Never felt so attached and so sure we will do the bizniss. Before I used to watch football, worry about jinxing, hoping without realising. Now I am sure rightly and truthfully we will not be bullied, play a plethora of ways. Tactically incredible, real.. young.. vibrant and genuine energy from the players. Edu and Mikel have brought the passion and love back to us fans. We are together as supporters and a club, now, more than ever. There was a disconnect, an apathy gap from management down... that gap has been erased and we are now dangerous and its almost our time to reign supreme. That's success.... Cigars and a BBQ.

Was a joy to meet Edu at Borehamwood back in 2001, as an Arsenal fan married to a Corinthiana this was especially nice. Cheering Corinthians vs Chelsea in 2012 while living in Brazil was also epic, thanks Edu. We’ve got the best people working at the Arsenal! Corinthians could do with some help 😢
These are good times. Here in Nigeria, we enjoy watching games at the pub or viewing centres. Some years back, as an Arsenal fan, there were lots of humiliating experiences and it was tough putting on the Arsenal jersey whenever we played the big boys. Phew! not anymore!

Been a gooner since 91’, as much as i loved the early wenger days when we were winning titles, those days were nowhere near as fun as this Arsenal squad. At the end of the day, sport is about fun and togetherness, no team in world football embodies this like Arsenal.
As an Arsenal fan of 24 years , I feel happy listening to Edu because he knows exactly what Arsenal wants and needs as a former player of the club. Mikel Arteta has to upgrade the quality in the team. In my opinion, I feel Nketiah, ESR & Nelson should be replaced with worldclass signings. Arsenal will win the EPL, UCL , Fa cup and EFL Cup.
You know what he meant by “how we win” there. We will win this season or next, but when we win people will respect our 1 title more than City’s 4peat or 7 in 8 years. People might hate us but they will respect.

Ever since then been a massive gooner. Never seen a league title and always poor in the CL. Best football but fragile and well beaten at times too. Arteta and Edu have rocked my world. Never felt so attached and so sure we will do the bizniss. Before I used to watch football, worry about jinxing, hoping without realising. Now I am sure rightly and truthfully we will not be bullied, play a plethora of ways. Tactically incredible, real.. young.. vibrant and genuine energy from the players. Good set of honest but outstanding lads too, truly believe our time is coming and watching Arteta, you can learn a thing or two that you can use in your life too. Incredible man big love

There was a disconnect, an apathy gap from management down... that gap has been erased and we are now dangerous and its almost our time to reign supreme. That's success.... Cigars and a BBQ.

Was a joy to meet Edu at Borehamwood back in 2001, as an Arsenal fan married to a Corinthiana this was especially nice. Cheering Corinthians vs Chelsea in 2012 while living in Brazil was also epic, thanks Edu. We’ve got the best people working at the Arsenal! Corinthians could do with some help 😢
These are good times. Here in Nigeria, we enjoy watching games at the pub or viewing centres. Some years back, as an Arsenal fan, there were lots of humiliating experiences and it was tough putting on the Arsenal jersey whenever we played the big boys. Phew! not anymore!

Been a gooner since 91’, as much as i loved the early wenger days when we were winning titles, those days were nowhere near as fun as this Arsenal squad. At the end of the day, sport is about fun and togetherness, no team in world football embodies this like Arsenal.
