    great tips thank you. I will do a backpack only for a 4 day business trip - including a lap top! I'm taking 2 silk reversible wrap around skirts (best purchase ever) , tanks & business shirts. 7 day packing is impressive YOU GO GIRL!

    Yes, we are carry on only these days. We limit clothes and just send them to ship laundry. Gearing up for 17 days away....with 9 tops, 2 bottoms, 2 nightgowns, 3 bras, 6 undies, a few socks, and a swimsuit. (plus the outfit I wear on the plane). We had a big fiasco with checked bags once and we said never again. I look at it as a challenge to see how many items I can trim away before our trip. I try to keep just clothes and shoes in the carry on.....and toiletries etc in the backpack. I wear my jacket on the plane so I don't have to pack it. It does make it hard to buy souveniors because there's no room for anything bigger than a t-shirt or jewelry. Sometimes I just take pictures of the things I would have purchased. Then I can remember what items were popular where we visited, but they don't clutter our house when we get home.

    I would "NEVER" choose to do carry on only, my husband's single pair of shoes would fill the bag by themselves! And I like my own shampoo/conditioner, face wash, toothpaste that are not sold in travel size (the face wash might) and just like washing in the sink did not work for you, decanting is not in my cards either. I also bring things to entertain me in my room after I have been peopled out... I also apparently like a lot more options than I realize when I think "I'll do a capsule wardrobe."
    OH & I strongly prefer cold or has the opportunity to be cold cruises, so "layers" including hoodies, hats, & coats - 3 in 1.
    Meanwhile, I watch all of the packing videos eternally thinking I will magically see "the method" to make me change my mind.
    Your plus size one was refreshing, because I have bras that are bigger that some gals entire wardrobes. KUDOS, keep up the good work.

    My ex and I did a week in Costa Rica with only hand luggage. I had a backpack (eBags Mother Lode) and a Samsonite underseater. Ebags doesn’t carry my exact bag any more, but it’s pretty similar to the Mother Lode DLX (which is currently deeply discounted).

      Going now to look up the Mother Lode DLX...

      @@AllBodiesTravel I'm a bag sloooooot. (LOL)
      I recently splurged on the Tortuga Lite backpack bundle, which includes the 40L Lite backpack, the Packable backpack, and a compression cube (I haven't received them yet). I ordered this for the load balancers on the shoulder straps and the hip straps. The hip straps should take 80% of the load off my shoulders, so I'm hopeful that the hip straps will fit me, as the web site says it will fit up to 62" (157cm) hips, and according to my measurements, I should be fine. My old version of the Mother Lode doesn't have hip straps OR load balancers (the DLX has hip straps, but no load balancers).
      I'm planning to use the 40L as my carry-on for my July cruise. I'll bring the packable backpack for shore excursions and if I buy more souvenirs than planned, I'll use it as my personal item on my return trip. I don't think either of the Tortugas has a trolley sleeve, but I have an add-a-bag luggage strap for that. I'm a fan of add-a-bag straps, as they tend to work better for load balancing than trolley sleeves. :)
      The Tortuga 40L Lite weighs just 3.5lb (1.59kg) and the packable backpack is only 11 ounces (308gm), so if I ever fly where there's weight restrictions on luggage, I'll be in a pretty good place.

    I've never tried carry-on only. I struggled to get everything for a 7-day cruise into a large suitcase, I'm not sure what I would get rid of to fit things into a smaller container.

      This is my first time for anything more than a weekend! We’ll see how it goes. 😂

    Do you not wear "thigh society" anti chafing shorts? (I too wear skirts & wouldn't dream of wearing them without leggings when it is chilly or thigh savers when it is hot.)

    • @AllBodiesTravel
      @AllBodiesTravel  Před 29 dny

      No, I haven’t tried those! I get really really warm and like to have as few layers as possible when it’s hot out (or when I’m doing a lot of walking). I’ll look into them though.

    I Cannot do it! I watch tons of videos on how to, but it just doesn't work for me!

      Normally I don’t try, but this was an experiment for one trip. 😂

    What about extra shoes??

    • @AllBodiesTravel
      @AllBodiesTravel  Před 4 měsíci

      Nope! I had a foot injury that required a metal plate in my sneaker so I only took one pair of sneakers.
