That Blue Nile record blew my mind when I found it… a week ago. Bizarre. But it’s so amazing, can’t stop listening to it!
That's two votes... I really need to listen to it ASAP.
@@TooManyRecords Listening Party Back @Mine bro. 🔊
@@lokitio Look into the story further before making snarky comments ;)
@@lokitio I don't really care to, sir. I wasn't even the one talking about it in the video. Do you know Blue Nile or Peter Gabriel personally? Nah. Neither do I. But supposedly Gabriel was really into their first record, and Hats was in the works for many years, so it isn't out of the question that they influenced So. Did Hats in particular? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, you're trying to incite drama on a video that has all positive vibes in the other comments, so I'm done responding to this. DM DJ Wags if you want to really get into it.
I really dig it as well. Great recommendation.
Awesome! If this becomes a series I won't ever miss an episode! So good.
Holding you to that ;)
Glad Blue Nile got a mention. Have been lucky enough to see them a few times and have all the originals on vinyl plus the ones that were only just released on vinyl as well. Their first album was often used as a demo record in the 80’s as it was on Linn Records, renowned for quality pressings.
I love that Hats gets some respect in this video. great record
The Blue Nile is absolutely amazing!
Brilliant !!!! I think I could spend the better part of a whole week in Portland. Perhaps most of my money too , hahaha. Good that you point out the importance of The Hunt & The Dig. Two of the most satisfying parts of collecting , because they lead up to : The Find.
So awesome! Can't wait for more of these 🤩🤞 I really want that Blue Nile record now 😅
An OG EU pressing would be a good way to go, but be sure to get a NM copy. It's a very sonically quiet record so needs as minimal amount background crackle/noise as possible to fully enjoy. Also the newest 2019 Re-Issue is the best sounding pressing i've heard. But sadly that one is even harder to find than an OG copy! Very much worth the effort though, a must have record in my book👍
@@djwags_1264 Thank you for the insight - I'll keep that in mind when I look for it 👍
Fantastic video from my hometown of Portland! I check Millineum out at least once a week and it’s one of my all time favorite shops!
Great job hosting Matt! Looking forward to new episodes. 🤘🏻
Pretty awesome video! Look forward to seeing more. 👍
This episode is SO GOOD MATT!! And we were blown away when you pulled “Stay Magical” off the shelf. That is so cool that David has our record in his collection!!!😎
Well done, so cool to hear different voices share their favorite artists and records stores. Thanks Matt!
This was great! I wouldn't mind if it had been longer, but I understand the decision behind keeping it relatively short. You mentioned a full interview with David Wagstaff - I'd like to see that in full. I always enjoy interviews with collectors. I hope this is going to be the path forward for each episode: introducing a collector, then a record store or two. Congratulations on this, Matt! I hope the algorhythm will be kind to you this time around. This video is worthy of the attention of everyone in the vc.
There's a full interview with Terry, not David -- I might edit that and put it up at some point. He's so fascinating.
This episode was amazing, and exactly the type of show I’ve wanted to watch ever since I started collecting in 2010! I truly cannot wait to see what’s next!
I run the music section at a head shop in Clarkston, WA called Greenfield Glass and Goods. It’s about 35 miles south of Pullman, WA. We carry vinyl, CDs and cassettes. When I first started there, they had one bin for vinyl and no cassettes or CDs. I grabbed the bull by the horns and built it up. We now have 4 bins of records and quite a few cassettes and CDs. We mostly sell used stuff but I also buy new punk and hardcore for the shop because there just isn’t any of that around here. Most of the stuff in this area is country and classic rock or pop. I very much enjoy what I do and learn something new everyday. Stop by sometime if you’re ever in the area. I love your channel by the way. Cheers! 😃
Killer, killer show Matt! So excited for more episodes.
Diggin’ this, Matt! Great concept, delivered well and I can’t wait for the next one! I’m so glad you’re a big part of a thriving vinyl record scene in Portland!!! ❤️🎶❤️
Oh, this is what you was on about. Nice. He has one on your label? Wow. I just started digging into the history of record shops. I'm combining the fact I used to own a record store as I realised its part of history with my fasibation for history. I have started in the town a currently live, Banbury, 9xfordshire where there has been a lot of record shops over years. Four in operation today..
Portland looks like a gorgeous city! I dated a woman for over 10 years who was from Portland Oregon, learned quite a bit from her and her daughter!😊
Well done Matt! Can't wait to see more!
It’s maybe a little under the radar, but I firmly believe that Richmond, VA has some of the best record stores in the country. They are always getting great new stuff in and the owners/staff are all super nice and knowledgeable. I have found so many cool records around town since moving here a little over a year ago
Love this style of video. Very professional and really entices the viewer to continue to watch. Love it!
This is amazing cant wait for the next episode!
THIS SHOULD BE A SERIES!!!!!!
Welfare Records in Haverhill MA. Awesome store!
Loving this. So well put together. Will make a point of watching all of these.
Amazing episode! Really enjoyed this and looking forward to more.
Love this! Hope this series continues, great job!
I finally got the chance to watch this first episode.... amazing!!! I really enjoyed it. Now I want to visit Portland so bad! This series is going to be awesome! Thanks for doing this.
This is awesome
Fantastic video with some incredible stories and people. Great work ❤
Very well done guys! The drone shots look awesome. Looking forward to many more of these!!
omg a celebrity
Great first episode! I can't wait to see what city is next!
That autograph of Andy Wood at 3:53 is sweet!
Dude. I'm loving this.
Matt, you sold Music Millennium short-by over 10 years! They celebrated their 50th anniversary several years ago (I should know, I own the t-shirt 🙂). Looking forward to catching up some more next time I find time to drive across town. Cheers!
Awesome job Matt, well done and entertaining! I graduated from Ohio State back in late 80's and my favorite, Used Kids, is still there, albeit in a different location. There are a ton of newer ones as well. Can't wait for the next episode
Cool to see fellow Norwegian Sondre Lerche on the wall!
This is amazing, such a great idea for a series that really pushes VC CZcams content to the next level. Kudos!
This is really interesting and very enjoyable to watch! Can’t wait to watch the next one! Amazing job!
Would love too see more content like this
So interesting! Matt brings all things vinyl to life. Can’t wait for the next episode, hopefully one featuring Matt on a road trip.
Keep up the good work!
Great video Matt! An interesting alternative take to highlight a local record scene. And very professional well-edited presentation made it highly watchable. Greetings from London!
You are living the dream Matt.
If you ever come to Orlando FL stop by Remix Record Shop on Mills Ave! Great shop owned by great people 👏🏽
Very cool to see the names/faces of some of the many employees I've seen at MM! Next episode: A follow-up segment featuring DJ Wags' workout routine in the record room
LMAO
Funny! At least 20% of my exercise regime is just carrying boxes of Vinyl Records around, but I'll admit I kinda have to do that just to make room in there to actually work out! ;-) Too Many Records!, right Matt?!😂
@@djwags_1264 😂 nothing quite like the 200-record dead lift to warm up with
If you end up in Kansas I would have to say either Sisters of Sound in Manhattan or Lovegarden in Lawrence. Sisters of Sound has a great used collection and has a ton of cool stuff, and Lovegarden has a really good selection of new and used. Also Lovegarden has a cat in the store, which is always a plus.
love a good shop cat
Rad video. Hope to see you in the Phoenix area my dude!
This is fantastic, Matt! Loved seeing you dig through Dave's collection. And what a collection btw!! Really enjoyed the shots plus your voiceovers. That was great to see the Tiny Stills LP too. And really interesting to hear about the beginnings of RSD. I'd love to see some CA Bay Area videos in the future.
I can’t wait for more episodes of this. I wanted there to be more which is a great sign. I know it won’t always happen this way but I liked the idea of going through a major collection as well as the record stores. I really liked the production on this. If you are ever in San Diego you need to hit up Vinyl Junkies - it is small but really well curated. It is my go to shop here.
love this!
Super episode Matt. Loves it. Can't wait to see the next one. So well shot
don't mind me, just feeding the algorithm 🙌 but what a fantastic first episode! excited for ep 2 🔥
love this! excited to see more of this series!
this is awesome Matt. glad to see it up and running!
This is so cool and exciting! Let's see more!
That was awesome!
Well done Matt! Loving No Skips. Give us more!!!
This was so so good 👌👌
Love this! Can’t wait for the next episode
SO COOL! TMR holding it down 👏❤
Great video Matt! The production is very high quality. Hope to see more of these in the future!
Loving this 🎉❤
Great video
Can’t wait to see more
So dope!!
Excellent start to the series! Very cool to hear about the beginning of RSD as well!
love this, very cool mix of perspectives and would definitely watch a series of these
This is really awesome!
amazing. loved when you asked the employees their favorite albums of all time. hope theres another episode of this series soon !
you and me both!
Great video, hope to see many more in the future!
This was awesome!! Super proud of you matt!
Fantastic video. I’m going to need more of these ASAP.
Great job Matt
Wow! More please!
Great video Matt and your store is looking great. Loved the bit of you and David Wagstaff going through his collection. I’d love to know someone local like that. I really enjoyed the video. Hope the next one is soon! 👍
Episode 1 was great!! I cannot wait for more. Come on up to New England, we've got great stores throughout especially in Greater Boston
Great video Matt. I look forward to the next stop. It was very cool to learn how RSD came to be.
If you're ever near Rapid City, Black Hills Vinyl and Ernie November's are two great shops!
Damn. This was well done. Keep them coming.
Love the pilot! Going to be playing this in my store this week on heavy rotation
Great video Matt, really enjoyed it!
It was interesting to get an insight in other people’s record collections.
This looked incredible also. Congratulations to you & the team on a great start to, hopefully, a continuing series.
Thanks for the support Nicki :)
Wonderful video man. This is just what I hoped you would make. Really makes me want to go (back) to Portland and it’s going to cost me, several of the records you showed us is now in my wish/shopping list. Keep up the great work and cheers from Morten (currently in Denmark).
Ayyyyeee PDX! RCTID
The 2019 Blue Nile reissues on Confetti Records were limited when released. Hats is killer but A Walk Across The Rooftops is also excellent as is the solo album by Paul Buchanan . Talk Talk and Mark Hollis fans should check them out. Excellent video.
Absolutely stunning to See how you and WhatNot put the game of VC videos up several notches.
Also hope you'll come to Germany some day 😉
I couldn't have done it without them.
Totally want to take a trip to Oregon again it's been awhile since I've been. I would totally make a pit stop to millennium music in portland. Great video can't wait to see you visit more states.
Great video Matt. The editing was chefs kiss ! Keep it up
editor really went HAM, hoping we can keep this video series going!!
Stash Records in Longview Washington, Everybody’s Music in Vancouver Washington, Royal Records in Seattle
Congrats to Matt and Whatnot on an excellent video! Also, Terry is right about the Kinks, Arthur and Village Green are two of the greatest albums of all time!
Top quality content
My local shops in Chilliwack, BC are Nugget Books (small section!) and Chilliwax (great name!) both with lovely and personable owners ❤️
seems like a monumental task and a huge road trip -- but cant wait to see what this series covers, if this episode is indicative of the quality. great stuff! (and little math check on the age of music millennium there... hehe)
Hey Dude! Nice store!:-)
Good stuff bud.
Seattle next please!
Easy Street, Jive Time, Sonic Boom, Silver Platters. Come on up.
I went to Music Millennium last year when I was in Portland visiting family and it was incredible - I walked out of there basically broke 😅
Nice video 😊
great video! i guess now i have to visit portland to see it for myself. can’t wait to see y’all in philly!
philly would be great for sure, any recommendations on spots to highlight?
Oh, also, looks like you turned the TMR store into a great hangout place. It has such a chill vibe that even comes through in the video. I wish I could visit it one day.
It improves every month, the community has been great in helping suggest things. One day you'll make it out.
Great video - perfect length for viewing and really informative. Hope you get the green light to do more of them.
thank you!! I think there are a lot more stories to tell.
Love it! Keep up the great work man. If you’re ever in the Dallas area hit us up
