- This is actually a two part video, as only half of the process can be done until ballasting is complete. This involves not only the painting and weathering of the track, but the addition of many little details that make up the scene.
Cheers

Discovering your channel George has inspired me to return to modelling after decades of life interfering. My first OO9 build is just getting under way (that’s my credit card you hear screaming loudly in the background). I really appreciate the time you take in editing your videos, the captions, concise explanations plus your dry brushing, err sorry dry humour, which hits the mark every time. Most of all I have learned that just as any good song needs more cowbell, any painted surface needs more black wash. Thank you.
Thankyou so much. It means a lot to know that I inspire other modellers 🖤
Hi George love the channel, could you do a video on spraying and what equipment you need? You make it look easy
Hi, try this video, I covered the set up and usage of an airbrush, but plan to follow this up with spraying techniques soon

Great to see you finally working on the layout itself again
Yes it’s still going, but it’s a case of finding the time to make videos around a very busy life at the moment!
Haha I really hope to see the layout sometime however I live overseas so I assume it will be a while till I see the corris or nant gwyrnell (sorry for my horrid spelling on the welsh names)
NIce looking track work, thanks for showing the rodding, this is completely new to me, as here in North America, rodding is not usually seen.
No problem. It makes for a nice detail on a model aswell
I enjoyed this one George but looking forward to watching the ballast one as I have yet to ballast the Harland Light Railway ……… which will only happen when I finally empty my model railway room of boxes of bedding etc and set it back up again. Moving house is the pits!!!
Thanks Carol. I think moving house is usually classed as one of the most stressful life events, so I hope it all goes well
Your modelling always inspires me George I can only wish I was 5% the modeller you are
It’s all practice, you’ll get there
We can only hope…
Love the channel! I’m getting into n scale. I was just wondering, what airbrush do you use? Also, do you have any tutorials you recommend?
I’ve got a video on here showing my airbrush setup and how to clean it. It’s on the cheaper end of the spectrum, so go check it out
I dry brush vallejo cement colour paint onto the sleepers then weather accordingly.
Yes there’s a lot of ways to go about painting track, and I guess lots of different prototypical examples to reference
Hey George! I’m from the states and I’m taking a trip to Europe this summer!! I have a 009 scale section on my model railway. I can get one 009 loco while I’m there! Which would you recommend?
You’ll have an amazing time! Well it depends on what you want. If you want ready-to-run, then the Ffestiniog englands are meant to be really good models. But if you have the money, I’d personally go for a double fairlie
@@GWilliamsonModels thanks for the advice!
Was that really 6mm masking tape at the start? If so when did your hands shrink? Must have been all the overspray onto your fingers that did it.
I only tend to use 6 or 10mm, so it’s one of those
