I just picked up a 2013 Peavey Classic 30 II. That is the one with the new circuit board and the last made in the US. I changed the tone stack to a Fender Twin and
sent it off to Peavey to run a check on it and mod the reverb circuit. Put a Cream Back in it. It is now a hybrid of a Fender Twin and AC30. Wonderful little amp !!
I am sure the Classic 50 is as well. Peavey makes a far superior constructed amp than Fender. Fender has always been cheaply made and very much so Now!!

4x10" is the go. I'd been searching for my sound for years and could never find it until I went to a 4x10" open back cab. It sits just right in the mix.

Thanks Shane! You sounded great. The rest of the band are excellent as well. I had one of these amps just a few years ago. My experience was the same as yours. Now I just use my pedals through a clean Katana 100. Not as great as the Peavey, but good enough for me.

I have that same guitar and changed the plastics to creme and it looks fantastic!!
Also, if you're feeling adventurous, change to 500k pots and 50s wiring and it really comes alive. Best of luck on your journey man.. 👍🏼

Haha.. This comment was for a different video actually.. Disregard please. If you're wondering tho, it's a les paul studio and is indeed amazing!

I've played nothing but fender amps since the 70s and just by chance heard a guy playing a Peavey' Delta blues 1 15 and immediately bought it. It's a perfect match for my strats and teles for clean and drive tones. I'm surprised they're so overlooked, I guess it's pretty hard to compete with Fender's reputation and marketing. I still have my old deluxe but the Delta blues gets the bulk of the playing time.

    Nice Shane!!
10s have the gutsy mids that chop into the mix well....
    Definitely different to 12s.

    Great Shane, but...
I returned to a Bandit Stripe and keep going with my Envoy Red Stripe and 1982 Renown...
    I don't tubes maintenace anymore.
    I hate that
    Anyway...great tone man!

It sounds great for sure! I have one of the newer Classic 20 Mini heads. I don’t know how it compared to the Classic 50 but I think you should check one out. It sounds really good and won’t need a cart to wheel it into the gig!

Sounded great ! I swapped speakers in my Fender Hot Rod Deville and it added so weight ! It is sounds so much better but the weight added makes it a chore to haul to gigs . Peavey tweeds from the mid 90's are great amps . The Classic 50 with 2 /12's is a great amp . A well known band from the 90's called Skeleton Key played our guitarist Peavey classic 50 and wanted to buy it on the spot after he jammed on it for a bit . Peavey were coined as the Mississippi Marshalls back in the late 70's but in the 90's the made great Fender'ish type amps .

The Peavey Classic series is a true hidden gem. There is something special about how they sit in a mix. They just project like crazy! I have my USA classic 30, and I'll never part with it.

I just picked up a delta blues 1x15 for cheap.
Clean channel is really big sounding and great with pedals.
I'd like to get a 4x10, don't see many locally.

a lot of people upmod the 20W model, just sayin as a MH20 owner ;-)
It will push a 15" cabinet, and that pushes even deeper sometimes than the 410 and certainly gives you the same amount or more of headroom, speaker wise.

  • @PetefromSouthOz
    @PetefromSouthOz Před 2 měsíci

Hey Shane, you must feel pretty good about getting that Amp.
Even with the Camera Mic, it certainly cuts "cleanly" through the mix.
Like you said, as well as others in the comments, the 4x10 Amps create a different Sonic experience, my Tone Master Super Reverb certainly does it.
I wonder if the EL84s in the Peavey give it that extra mid push, compared to 6L6s in the Fenders.
    Nice work
    Pete

I was playing bass gigs for donkeys years. Peavey tnt100 combo (with a Celestion 400w 15in speaker with a ceramic magnet weighing around 20kg on its own). I feel for your poor back muscles from this perspective. Worth it though...

I forgot to ask you how the classic 50 compares to your Fender blues deluxe. Ive been interested in one but the one I had experience with was really noisy. Im wondering if the newer ones are better in that regard.

    • @intheblues
      @intheblues  Před 2 měsíci

The only thing I noticed was the fan noise thats in the back of the amp, otherwise it's not too bad unless you're using the drive channel with higher gain settings.

haven˙t even seen the full vid and know exactly what is wrong with it. you˙ll lose your hearing, that˙s what. amazing sound, pedal friendly, loud as heck, but it weighs a ton. i˙ve had my eye on a used classic 30 for years because it˙s more compact but can˙t really justify the purchase as they still hold their value

Classic open-back 4*10 conundrum- beautiful midrange tones, huge 3-D sound field, and you can control the onset of breakup with pedals. Sadly, load-in and out are still a BEAR…

Guitar players slag on Peavey tube amps because they dont cost a lot of money.
Most guitarists listen with their wallets.

They don't make them anymore. I'd go for an early 90s ones that look same as a bassman. I've heard they sound better also, don't know if true.
