Try to set 10000 nits in the timeline working luminance in color management. You'll see more details in the highlights.

Yes, I do it when I really have nightmarish footages that really need a lot of work and a higher range of nits.
Most of the time I stay on the default nits settings when switching to davinci wide gamut :)

Unfortunately, these footages come from a commercial I have done last year.
I am not in a position to share these footages to download, but I tried to show you being as transparent as possible how I matched the takes in this commercial :)
You can reapply these principles on your own projects :)
