The Hoonicorn: Inside Ken Block's Gymkhana SEVEN AWD 1965 Mustang with Chris Harris - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Going thru Ken block videos now makes me appreciate them so much more. Hoonicorn was a violent miracle
You know your car is raw as can be when a seasoned auto journalist that pulls of drifts mid-conversation is sitting with a look of genuine terror in the passenger seat.
David Hoffnung Never mind being a journalist, he's gone round the Nurburgring in a race car, which is pretty terrifying in and of itself, yet even that was probably a Sunday drive compared to this.
+PixelCortex I personally rate Chris higher than ken block
Nick Radloff yo i'm so glad i found ur comment that made my day hahahah
Chris Harris is the host new Top Gear needs.
RIP Ken Block, an inspiration of all of us ♥
An amazing piece of engineering. RIP Ken.
as an engineer, everything about this car just screams mechanical porn. Chris did an outstanding job showing off the inner workings of one of the most interesting Mustangs ever created. Awesome work by everyone who created the Hoonicorn.
RIP Ken, you'll be missed you madlad
honestly, I think Harris is the best automotive journalist ever.
No doubt
Yes
umm what about the top gear 3...
Indeed he is.
keenanmx
Top Gears a joke. They are just kids with no information about anything
Block is worth over $200M. I had no idea. A;parently he was the co-founder of DC Shoes.
+the b biddim What kind of rock are you living under?
+the b biddim I never knew that either lmao. I don't wear clown shoes tho.
It's actually 20 million
+Loftty OG clown shoes... well gg
zombiemfox no 200
I've stared at this car for weeks while replicating it in fifth scale, and it really is a thing of beauty. I love seeing all the technical details like the frame, great video explaining it all!
HemiStorm RC - Custom RC builds, painting videos and more fancy seeing you here! 👍😁👍
You will be missed dearly brother may you rest in paradise with the rest of the greatest 😔
Chris Harris cannot make a bad video. Bravo for bringing on the perfect person for the job.
Two words Jeremy Clarkson
Jeremy is getting old and starting to repeat himself. We kinda seen his trick now. Than again the grand tour is always good te watch.
Bruce Charlie Dude, you have every right to like JC but honestly, Chris Harris is just better in every way. This guy can really explain how a car feels to drive, he does not let his personal preferences affect his reviews and does NOT resort to absurd arguments to make his point. Not to mention that he has a true sense of humor (unlike the offensive, child-like sense of JC) and Jezza can only dream of his driving skills. Granted, over the years JC has gone to great lengths in order to get a laugh out of audience, but that just makes him a better entertainer - completely irrelevant to automotive journalism or quality car-related content.
@@brucecharlie8613 So, while I respect your opinion with regards to your preferred car show presenter, there are 2 things for you to consider.
1) Tiff needell, having worked with both of them, respects the opinion of Jeremy Clarkson, but he listens to Chris Harris when he talks about a car.
and 2) look at their individual reports on the Ferrari 812 Superfast. Jeremy Clarkson is massively over-faced by the car and is incapable of driving it without ESC, whereas Chris echoes that the car may be more powerful than it needs to be, also turns off the ESC and is more than able to handle it at its full therefore able to give you a full review of it's abilities as a car.
Finally, though it shouldn't need to be said, Chris does GT3 racing and is capable of both impressing and beating Pro drivers, whereas Clarkson for all his ability, does not and is not able to do so.
@@brucecharlie8613 Clarkson technical explainations is just "muh PAUWER", Harris gives in depth details about how a suspension systems affect what he is feeling while mid slide. Clarkson reviews are all petrol brawn, with no brains.
if only the hoonicorn sounded this insane in Need For Speed 2015
ik right
and need for speed no limets iOS and android
we got horizon 3 for that!!!
Mohanad Hossam i spent countless hours to unlock it and i was disappointed honestly
It does in forza 7 😍😁 and its the mk2 twinturbo 1400hp setup 🤤
"You got a A pillar a B pillar and a roof " lol
nylonsteel like wow my smart car has all 3 of those things too! Think I can drift like this thing can?
The tail lights look original too! Lol
He forgot the doors: original 1965 Mustang.
@@FreedomForce100 are you sure? I don't think the original Mustang had indentations in the door to make room for the big ducts near the rear wheels
@@ValentineC137 it was mentioned in another video by their own team: the door are original.
GREAT video!!! So nice to finally see the car in detail!
Awesome....what a beautiful machine....LOVE that launch in the beginning....and @ 5:26, going around that corner with the cop cars is awesome....THANK YOU....THANK YOU Ken...and thank you Chris Harris for the walk thru. This truly is one bad ass ride...
The car the MAN and the video production team, Have all made for one hell of a video to watch over and over again . THANK YOU MR BLOCK. KEEP EM COMING ..
Ken Block is a marketer's wet dream come true and Chris Harris, with his very quirky, energetic, enthusiastic and technical way of presenting, not to mention his excellent driving skills, is quite possibly the best car journalist ever.
OF COURSE Ken wanted the Mustang to be 4 wheel drive, since I doubt very much Ken would be able to control his drifts like he does if his cars were only 2 wheel drive.
Well now you can eat your words, his new Gymkhana car is a rear wheel drive Mk2 ford escort rs2000
Shona It will be interesting to see if he can drift it like he drifts 4 wheel drive cars.
+KNOW HOPE Well obviously he won't be able to do it exactly the same. He usually gets mad angle on reverse entries.. They are actually proper reverse entries. But in a Rear wheel drive car, those aren't really possible to that extent. Also he won't be doing four wheel drifts, just tail drifts like most people. I'm sure we'll all notice a huge change in his driving style, that's one thing that's certain.
Of course he will able to do that easily. I mean, we are talking about Ken Block here, the best driver in the world.
He most certainly would be able to control the car, but still an awd car will always be better (if tuned properly of course) at drifting, since it has more grip. That allows ken to go sideways in a car at ridiculous angles. rwd cars would just lack some of that straight line grip to keep themselves on the road, so he would have to drift at lower speeds and at lower angles. Maybe it would still be more difficult, but it just wouldnt look as good on the camera in my opinion.
i said posted this in the gymkhana 7 comments and i'll post it here too. It's 3 days short of a year since this came out and blew my mind. why on earth can't i buy a 1/24 scale or at the very least a good poster of this car? it's a masterpiece. seriously missing some merchandising potential here. i want this car on my desk!
+Charles Ramirez I second that.
+Charles Ramirez Poster and T-shirts on eBay and Amazon. Try Google
+darthwilcu saw the poster. still want a scale model tho lol
The car is insane. The drift clutch is magical. Epic stuff!!
Thank you Chris for showing us around this crazy beast, thanks Ken for driving it ,a nd thanks to his team for building it I love when real thought is put into a project, when you think about the end result, even adjusting the firing order for a particular sound, come on now thats just awesome, I LOVE IT
That sound is just dope asf
That noise is glorious it's 4 wheel drive nascar and Kenny is brilliant. Go on give us a go!!!!
Ken Block and Chris Harris....two of my favorite people in the motorsport scene together on CZcams with no paid subscription required. IT'S BRILLIANT!
I can't even explain how much I love this
9:50? Why a Mustang? Because it's made by Ford, and Ken Block has partnership with Ford..
and because its the 50th anniversary of mustangs, they chose a 1965 mustang for a reason because its exactly 50 years old.... well was last year
ΛVINIDE seriously! and the mustang was not the first "small muscle car", the chevy II (Nova) has a few years on it...
ΛVINID
ΛVINIDE AND FORD IS AWSOME!
And the one before this was an Fiesta..
I came here for a red button explanation!!!
hehe, I would like to see that :p
He said clutch is activated when handbrake is pulled, but I guess that is what the button is for?
I bet it's for smoke. Fake tire smoke.
the usual handbrakes actually only lock up the front diffs, so the button is for the full handbrake i guess?
it might be the other way around though
+adj789 ejecto seato cuz!
NOS
amazing stuff, things that make me happy
so much hooning goodness 😈👌🔥🔥🔥 digging every second this things violent soundtrack
HAHAHAHA
The look on Chris face while being driven by Block.
yeah , 8:51 was really funny
Ford should ask to borrow this for work on a future mustang. They should take the best of all mustangs and put them in one car. A flat plane V8 AWD Hatch back with fold down seats and dual wishbone independent suspension on all 4.
actually they did have i think 4 or 5 mustangs in 65 that were AWD. i dont know if the team that built this knew that but the irony is awesome.

CHRIS you’re the most amazing automotive journalist and driver on the planet I love watching your videos. It makes me want to go outside jump in my fiesta ST and start driving on three wheels.
Great video, love anything Hoonigan related
The drift at 4:30 is absolutely incredible
I know what is left from an Mustang! The pony on the front!
I know something too! The body shape ._.
onhawaii A pillar, roof and C pillar.
It's not a pony bro, it's a mustang type of horse
Like I said a Pony... A small type of horse. Mustangs are not that big and You are the first that seems to be up sad with me calling it Pony in 4 months. That might be because I am not the only one who think it is a Pony. Dude I know a little about horses and yes mustangs do not belong to the group of horses that where called Pony but just because they are 1 inch to tall. LOL! But a pony is also an horse!
@@onhawaii it was just a clever nickname/expression is all. When you go to the HORSE RACES, some would say you go to bet on the PONYS. When everyone started building cars to compete with the Mustang...they called them Pony Cars in honor of their founder.
8:38 is the best part. The look on Ken's face is amazing, lol. It's like, 'I told you, it's just trying to kill me.'
Great work Chris!
7:10 OMG THAT SOUND !!!!!!
DAMN ! @5:54 parking bumps missed by 1"
Harris is awesome. He can drive pretty much whatever he wants and this is the most excited I've seen him. He's like a kid with this, as I'm sure we all would be too :)
Very Well Built...Thanks
Not bad! This is obviously like Harris said a chassis car with aftermarket Mustang parts, so it's not like they did the hard part and turn a Mustang into this. I've raced/worked on Ford (and Mustangs in particular all my life), and when I first saw the side I was more amazed at how far forward the front axle is, not how far back the engine is. Not to mention they've been doing that sort of thing since 1965 anyways, back when they HAD to start with a real, fully-built Mustang and not go the easier, cheaper route by using a chassis car. It's no doubt very-well built and I'm glad to see the Mustang getting some love outside of drag racing nowadays (remember kids: Ford took the Mustang ROAD racing BEFORE they went drag racing -- people who don't know any better are the ones who think muscles cars are only for racing in straight lines), but this is still the ~7th AWD classic Mustang I've seen, and the 3rd one of those ~7 meant for rallying I've seen. Very nice car and as a Ford/Mustang guy I'm very glad to see it, but this has all been done before.
why didn't they show this interesting and informative clip on top gear instead of dull driving around london doing donuts?
Bald numbers can be tedious. Really only for the dedicated. But closing off roads in the centre of a major capital city to allow a bit of legitimate hooligan driving under the guise of a "taxi-ride"...well that's entertainment. And although it is subjective, I find the Top Gear clip more fun (even though I am grateful for this in-depth look at a car that defies category.)
Because Top Gear is a lame family show, and not a propper petrolhead program. Funk Dat
Because Gymkhana is what made this car famous and that's the entire reason why it was built to start with. Come on bro
finalmente uno di top gear che si intende di auto, complimenti sei un grande come l'alfa...
I wish this video lasted longer ,, so interesting !!!
"BESPOKE" "STUNNING"
This video is better than the actual gymkhana vid ;D
Well this is a hidden gem of a video
Beautiful car and insanely good video production! Thanks!
I'd rather watch Chris Harris talk about this car, than to watch Block drive it haha
RIP legend
Firstly awesome car! Second brilliant engineering. I really wonder how fast a circuit racing version of this car would be around Laguna Seca raceway or Bathurst race track here in Australia. Or even Pikes Peak. Chris Harris' s face was priceless to watch , you know your doing well when you manage to scare a man with his skill and experience. Well done I wonder whats next... maybe something rocket powered!
This is my dream car (minus the wide body), always wanted an awd 65 or 66 mustang, I like the way they solved the front diff clearance.
YAY CHRIS HARRIS!
One day this car will be on auction I wonder how much it'll go for...
0 bucks. its not for sale XD sold not really
He literally JUST COMMENTED: ONE DAY THIS WILL BE ON AUCTION. Can you not read?
Jason Holtkamp anywhere from 1.5-27 million in my opinion it is custom built
Jason Holtkamp are u kiding kens gonna be barryed in this car lol
I wager it'll sell at 4.7 million dollars. Wouldnt doubt it if it went even higher then that. The number of ultra rick car fans will go crazy with bids. At some point tho you reach the limit of the cost to make the Hoonicorn an it be just fine to have one custom build maybe in white. Then have the 2 cars tour japan. White black duo, crusing at max speed through urban farms an shit. I wish
Chris's voice; gorgeous for describing vehicles.
OMG really enjoyed him talking about the mustang and how it works for different stunts, love the smokinggggggg lol all of it was amazing :D xx
It's amazing how many haters there are on any of Ken Block's videos. For those of you morons bitching about the fact that he did "another" AWD/4WD car, the original idea behind his Gymkhana built cars was to have a car perform and handle on pavement in the same manner that a rally car would on a gravel surface (hence the sliding around). He has simply expanded on that idea since then. Appreciate his videos for what they are, or continue to spew hateful comments out of jealously for not being able to go what he does.
This is supposed to come to FH3 can't wait if does
WW2GUY1077 this one isn't, the Hoonicorn V2 is supposed to
One hell of a machine Ken, "4" wheel drive is the shit!!!! Thanks for the show...
Awesome i love the oldchool with a taste of new topped with a grunge look..
That thing is as much a Mustang as I am Ken Block.
It was nice to see some tech details on the car, though. And to see Chris Harris w/o having to pay.
Chris Harris has a new channel, all free
000Haze Name?
Jones Nobs Chris Harris on Cars
You it's the real deal when Chris Harris himself shits. I mean this guy has driven, a lot of fast cars.
AMAZING VIDEO
This is my first time watch this channel and I have to say damn that car is a beauty
Something about a car that is constantly trying to kill you that is sooo special!
never getting in a car with you
A cup car motor, the best motor in the world, can make 900 hp for 600 miles at wide open throttle, the only thing that is close to these are off shore race boats.
Aaron Bradley fanboy
Holy crap !!! That's Awesome !!!
Got to see this car up close in the Ford booth at SEMA...I drooled all over myself.... There was also a very cool custom 70's Camaro in the GoPro booth that was very similar in terms of overall style and quality. It would be cool to see them together. Both easily made my top 10 favorite cars at SEMA.
any game that allows personal cars.....THIS NEEDS TO ONE OF THEM GODDAMNIT
It is in GTA 5 online, the car is named: "Drift Tampa"
RJ White its on need for speed 2015
Jerome Manderscheidt but does it have the same awesomeness factor this one does? Fuck no it doesnt
I wonder if he ran into any crowds yet
its awd so it probably wont
"probably"
Jose Delira you never know with a mustang
Kudt Vent you never know. surprised he didnt crash into the lowrider on #7
he hit a wall trying to drift 😂😂
Best journalistic the automotive industry hands down
Ken absolutely nails it everytime n with the hoonigan team 👍🔧🔩🏁
Wish he would've talked more about the drivetrain specifically 4wd.
and the word of 2014 is "bespoke"
Old video has no clue this existed
The car is a beast and the beast is beautiful
Bravo Chris! You are on fire Sir!
*Cough* Let me just wipe off my keyboard here...
Cat From The Future my sentiments exactly lol
R.I.P Ken Block
Damn Harris, all the correct adjectives matched beautifully to the camera snaps to get us gearheads such a hard-on, some of us have or are on the verge of really passing out!
I like the way he says he is sitting in kens seat when he's not there but you can see him through the front windscreen halfway through the video😂
4WD has always been the ability to lock and unlock the front wheel drive system when traversing rough terrain. AWD is constant drive to all wheels continuosly. That is the way I read it? ;)
Overall, that is correct! AWD systems are interesting in that there's various schemes that can be used to provide the traction, and that differs depending on the type of system, and how it's set up. There are AWD systems that provide power to all four wheels constantly, and other AWD systems that only drive two wheels until one axle starts slipping and then it will transfer power to the other set. In one example, the Nissan ATTESA-ETS system (found in various Infinitis and the GTR) powers only the rear wheels until slip is detected, then it will transfer power to the front. Another example is the Evo and STI, which will distribute power between the front and rear by default and transfer the power around depending on the situation. Some AWD cars even have a feature called Torque Vectoring where it can send power to individual wheels...so if you accelerate in a corner, it will turn the outside wheels faster to make the car turn in and hold the line better.
Speechless
Baddest '65 I've ever seen! Nascar scream from that monster intake and side exhausts, plus the black-matte camo design and all those carbon fiber flares, splitters, and vents... What a machine!
04:35 I thought ZF is German (based in Friedrichshafen, Germany)
SADEV not ZF
that car is... ok... I guess... I own three of them.... in the garage that only exist in my head....
Favorite video on this channel so far! What's with all the dislikes???
Just spectacular
I want to see Block get chased by a city full of police!
And the cops have to try their hardest
He can't outrun a helicopter lol
OK,I go Cop....´cause even Ken can´t outran Bullets! ;-)
Choo choo.. Detroit Michigan, Ken's on the way
RIP 43
this is the car I had in mind when I was 18... I still want it... I had the 65 mustang but not the money or the knowledge to build this.
Powerful, Chris Harris. Powerful, Hoonigan Team.
Is there anything on it that is not, "bespoke"?
hoonicorn? come on ken...
I think he got the idea cuz he's a hooligan
Old comment, I know but just the other day found out why it’s called that. Apparently it was a joke by one of the guys at Hoonigan. They needed a code name, so they used Hoonicorn, it ended up sticking for so long that it’s the name they ended up going with. It’s Hoonicorn because obviously, Hoonigan, and Unicorn because it was a project they’d talked about for a long time as ‘the one’ they always wanted to make with no rules or limits.
BEYOND EPIC
i like your show a lot
Not much of a mustang but a B.A. car it is.
so whats the retail price?
