- Divers install RetroClamps to a platform, connecting new sacrificial anodes and extending the life of the platform's cathodic protection system.
The retrofit of an offshore platform in the Red Sea was conducted by Deepwater Corrosion Services Inc. in conjunction with local divers. Our own RetroPod system (comprising 14 anode pods and 14 RetroClamps) was used to connect new sacrificial aluminum anodes to an old structure, ensuring that it will stay protected from corrosion for an additional 20 years from installation. Pods are lowered to the sea floor and then divers electrically connect them using the RetroClamp.

I am french and I am working offshore for oil and gas industrie.
I have never seen that before.
Why you did not weld anodes directly to the structure ?
Is it permanent or temporary?
Saltwater coral corrodes metal every so often it's got to be replaced under the sea
Would someone please explain what type of work is being performed here? I would appreciate it.
They are installing clamp to the structure of an offshore platform, the clamp connects to anode bed (a more active metal) in this case i think is Zinc. This stop corrosion, is called sacrificial catholic protection.
