In this video, we go over what is included in the LED Lighting & 12V accessory, changes to Juicebox, and how we power it all with a deep cycle battery.
Currently running solar on my Ripcord DIY Wedge. I have (2) 100w Renogy Flexible solar panels, glued and taped to the roof. I used 3M VHB Tape and EPDM lap Sealant, based off of Renogy's recommended install video. The panels' are only .08" thick as well, does not raise the profile much at all. Have had the panels up there for a couple years, no issues, have been in winds over 80mph driving through the desert as well. For battery setup, I have dual North Star Deep Cycle AGM's in the engine bay, linked through a REDARC Solar Charge controller, as well as an SPOD Switch controller. Most of my accessory's are all connected to the auxiliary battery, other than winch etc. and I've never had it die. I ran some 8GA wire from the engine bay to the bed, where I have a small 12V cigarette and USB outlet hub. I use the 12V cigarette outlet as my power for the diesel heater setup I have, built into a Rigid Toolbox, able to pull 12.4V through to the heater when the glow plugs are starting up. Very very happy with the setup.
I'd be interested in the install. Often (other companies) it's a pretty big adder, so some pricing options would be nice. It would also be nice to price a DIY version that maybe includes the wires and controller's etc, but is not fully connected and screwed in place so the customer can move and mount it as needed or as they do a build out. For example I have a full camping build out (under a topper being replaced by the lone peak camper!!!) so I'd want the "stuff" but need to be able to put it where it fits in my system.
Bluetti makes several all-in-one solutions, so you just drop it in the bed of your truck, plug in solar, and you have 12v and 110v (2000W) ready, which is plenty for almost all users. The price is really competitive if you add the MPPT, inverter and battery costs together and you can take it out of the vehicle super easy.
Those are definitely a great option if you want an all in one solution. I personally like selecting individual components. We're probably going to stock some batteries that have heaters built in so you can charge them in the cold.
Your system is looking great. I am getting more and more excited to order. I just hope the price does not go up to much in 2024 when I plan to buy mine.
Yes, I think it is best for you to offer a complete electrical system that supports a battery that can be charged from truck engine, plus solar. This way in cloudy weather the truck can top off the battery while driving. If you make the whole system hopefully all the pieces will integrate with each other maximizing compatibility. I envision wanting LED lights, reversable exhaust fan, perhaps a small fan that can be mounted directed on the bed and/or the counter when cooking. Power enough to run fridge, laptop, Skylink, etc. I plan to do some work online from the camper. Things look great so far. Keep up the good work and innovation.
We added our solar options to the website! let us know what you think. We don't plan to hook up to the truck battery but it may be an option you choose once you have the camper. We'll leave that up to you.
Yes! Full-blown system and a rear seat removal and slide out fridge/freezer! Solar a definite! Let's get it done! Hot water system and cubicle and batwing large awning as much as possible and heating system! A quality slide out kitchen system also!!! 😃😃😃💪💪💪 Off-grid all the way and lots of videos to show it!!!
Of course, many customers would want a turn-key power/lightning option. Great idea. But don't let those options' development delay you from ramping up the main production!
Awesome info on the lights amber and dimer ability was a great move. I would love to have all the option you're talking about concerning the battery set up. God Bless
I personally think id rather have a simple removeable setup like a Goal Zero or Jackery with integrated inverter and mppt. This should cut down on space and allow us to remove easily if needed. I had a custom setup in my custom camper i built similar to the video. When i sold the trailer i left everything included since it was easier to sell that way. If i had a goal zero it would have been easy to keep and for the new owner to setup with their own.
I second this. I plan to use my Ecoflow portable battery out of the gates. Flexibility to tweak my interior layout at will and more in line with my power needs for camping. Definitely interested to see the next version of Juicebox. I had planned on building my own switch panel but will keep my eyes on what you come up with!
Any updates on Juice Box? Getting close to production date and still haven't seen any updates. Also, would be great to see a turn key solar/battery/power option.
Awesome!! I think the amber and red light combo would be better!! White light is too much especially when in the outdoors at night!! Excited to see what you offer in terms of battery solutions. Lithium is def the way to go!! Seems like the Ecoflow is a cool company if you just want to plug and play
@@JowieC We gave RGB some serious thought but we didn't want to fool around with random remotes and third party apps. Trying to keep it simple and nail the basic features :)
I like the charging system options. Can you have the battery also being charged as the vehicle is being driven through a solenoid? I have that option now, my battery charges when I drive and when I’m stationary I use my solar panels as needed.
That’s how I wired up my spare battery!! It’s called a battery isolator. My spare connects to my starter battery. When the starter battery is above 13.3 volts, it opens the connection and shares power to the spare. When it’s below 13.3 volts, it cuts the connection and makes sure that I’m not drawing power from my starter battery when the engine is off.
Yes, the DC to DC charge controller that Kyle was talking about, allows you to charge you auxiliary battery through your alternator and also allows the use of solar.
I purchased the LED 12 volt wiring package, will there be any sort of switches to turn the lights on and off if we don't buy the separate juice box option?
You'd need a junction switch box (search amazon) to control and power the lights. Juicebox will be the recommended way to go for the best user experience.
@@lonepeakoverland9213 okay that's good to know, it's a bit disappointing that the $500 lighting package doesn't come with any switches that are mounted at install to turn it on and off unless you buy the $300 - $400 juice box.
I would definitely be interested in solar panels mounted and wired at install. I plan on using the Kickass battery box with the box mounted 25A DC-DC & MPPT charger. You might want to look at the something like the Kickass battery box setup. It makes the whole battery setup portable with a DC-DC & MPPT charger.
Excellent! I would like any of the proposed options to be able to be quickly removed from the pick up truck bed. I want to be able to easily remove the camper and all of it's components when I need to use the full bed of my truck. Camping will be a part time activity for my wife and I. I have a tractor so I can easily lift on and off the camper when required.
Hey I added the lights fan and juice box to my order. I don’t need to power much, a Yeti 500 would be great for what I need. Is this something y’all can offer so when I pick up my camper in April and y’all install, you could have it 100% ready to roll so I could be fully powered up & able to run my fan and lights as I camp on the way home?
Our full power system involves the solar and battery at this point. If your interested in using the Yeti 500 you can bring it with you to install. LP will only install our provided options but we will place an Anderson plug for easy connection to various power stations. I'm sure we would be happy to take a peak and help with any questions at that point.
Kyle, you read my mind on this one. Had been researching 12v solar options. Would certainly be interested in your solution at the time of installation. Will reach out for more details.
Having the manual buttons is key. It's annoying to have to find a phone while camping just to turn on a switch. Is there a manual switch for the light bar, or is it phone only controlled? A switch that can wire to the dash somewhere would be ideal.
There are manual and phone buttons for everything. When I'm in the cab I just mounted my phone to my dash and used the app for control of the light bar.

Another vote for RED lighting, to help with night vision.
looks like a lot of great options Kyle!
That's the goal :) Options for everyone
Hope you guys make a cybertruck version! Looks sweet!

🤦🏻♂️how have I not watched this yet?!? Dc to dc with 50ahr and a single solar panel would be a massive kit for this rig.
Stay tuned! The solar option will be on the website soon!

Yep red light doesn’t affect sleep and less bugs. Even Amber attracts bugs but not as bad as white
How much more for the juice box? The electrical light packages is already a wee bit expensive.

Are you considering wiring options for EVs? Rivian and F150 Lightning both have 120v in the bed on the passenger side, but 12v might be trickier.
You'd just need to grab a 120V to 12V converter to power Juicebox
Will there be a way to add flood lights to the side and rear of the rig for improved visibility at night?
Love to see it!!
Will juice box have any usb or usb-c connections for charging small devices?
One of each actually!
