  • Hey all!
    I'm finally back!! This video is a continuation of the rebuilding of my 2nd abandoned oil field pump house. I prep the building site and then get the building re erected, showing you my struggles along the way...trust me there were a few struggles!
    If you have not see the first short video of the tearing down of this build from its original location I'll have the link for that below.

    Would you consider putting clear fiberglass ridge cap up to allow ambient light to luminate what looks to be a dark shed interior.
    I know that it is not traditional; but it could be very helpful. Tom.

      It would work well doing that but I'm trying to keep it traditional. I am going to add another window on the wall that has the doorway however. Thank you!

    Ha! excellent shots & great determination, but as a hint. You need to train 'Dog' to help, no need to let him run around without kicking in.... Just Joshing, You & him both, do fine

    Great video! I learned a new trick today, putting the nails on the rafters to hold the new wood. Thanks!

  • @donkendall1227
    @donkendall1227 Před rokem +1

    A couple of things I have come up with lately. Use construction screws instead of nails, much stronger and easier to install. Turn the roof tin over, the rusty side will only last a few years, the underside still has good galvanize and will last longer. Neat project.

      I agree with everything you have said, however I'm using the old nails and such for an authentic look so I'm willing to make some sacrifices for that reason.

    Always fun to watch you work on this old stuff, nice job. Have to say I LMAO when you almost smashed the building. I was watching and said to myself... not a good idea... then OOPS. :)

    You definitely don't have much wind up there.
    Because no more framing, and effort than they put into the buildings, they'd never made it past first few years down here.
    I'd say you're caught up on mishaps since you survived intact, both you, and the building.
    My luck when the pump flopped over it would have taken every wall down, and busted half the cast iron off of the pump itself.
    Then the ladder trick, that you were fortunate enough to catch yourself somewhat.
    I'd off probably buried several nails, and half dozen splitters several inches long in various parts of myself.
    That's if the ladder didn't end up somehow tangled up in my legs, and arms, or land on top of my head gashing it open leaving me laying there bleeding profusely and unconscious.
    Are more than likely, all the above with no cell service if I could find my phone that would have surely busted the screen bad enough it was just a blank with few faintly lighted cracks on it.
    That's my luck since I no longer work for a living, are at least not one that pays these days.
    Retirement, and growing older isn't for the young, or those that think everything is going to as easy to do as it was even a few years ago.
    Seems like what once was just an hour or two to do by yourself, now takes several days if not longer, and is a constant battle just to get it half-assed these days.
    Lol, I'm only partially exaggerating about it, and some days it's actually quite comical, but others it's quite sad to think about.
    Yet one never gives up, and does best one can regardless of the trials and tribulations one has to endure.
    Happy Christmas, and a Merry New Year to everyone

    • @Cast_Iron_Curiosities
      @Cast_Iron_Curiosities  Před rokem

      Yes they will, I will be replacing all the window glass, will also have to put a new window in, and will make doors for it as well. That will probably all happen during the spring time.

    For the shed you are building, wasn’t the level to square the walls, a little overkill? Lol
