    Sabertooth dull motor control for the snow cat, & a UMG with the stock axials is like putting drag slick on your rock crawler... it's a bad joke!

    Portals ABSOLUTELY should have been included in the UMG-10!!! You really did yours justice. NOW - if they'll only send ME one!! 😉
    I've wanted a Blizzard for over 25 years! But then, I lived in New York, and could have used it more than now in Arizona...
    Good luck with your stockpile of work!!

    While having portals on a crawler is fine, people do it, I have friends that have it on 1:1 crawlers, but having a Unimog with straight axles just is not right. Your UMG10 is now looking much better. Leaf springs forever!

    Now you're in my world, "Take on way more builds than I could possibly have time for." lol The Blizzards are fun, I was just using mine when we were in MI a couple of weeks ago. It actually moves snow really well. I actually prefer driving leaf trucks, it's all about the driver's skill. ;) I would LOVE if after the VS410 Ultra we get a leaf-sprung VS410, but I know that's probably never going to happen. The interior looks flocking great!!

    I think Axial missed the "scale" mark by not putting portals on the UMG10. The Spiker snow blower kit would be a great option for the Blizzard! I love the way you did the leaf conversion and the JS/Cmax build looks awesome.

    Love this series and the rigs. Can't wait for follow up running videos. The UMG should have come with portals, but I imagine that Axial wanted the big surprise with the Capra. A portal axle kit from them would be nice. I'm a leaf spring fan, performance be damned! I have GCM's rear leaf kit for my Ascender. It's more fun to drive.

    I've got a vintage original tamiya thunder dragon, 3 sets of rims, 2 sets of tires, new spare parts tree, original receiver and the original upgraded two stick receiver up for trade. Looking for a trail rig because my 4 year old son is into them and id like to have one we could run and hop up. Also, this whole 14 and above bs that CZcams says we can't let our kids watch, well I'm his father and he likes RC and loves watching RC content with me, especially your channel, and we will continue to do so haha.

    If you left one of the upper Links on the Rig attached, wouldn't that control Axle Wrap?? It does on 1:1 Trucks. It's basically a Ladder Bar.

    Of course I as an off road sing and Unimog lover would say the portals should’ve been included in the UMG10 truck, but we all know that would rack up the price quite a bit. Axial has been trying to keep costs down so I can understand why they didn’t originally include them.

  • @DucatiDeSanto
    @DucatiDeSanto Před 4 lety

    I just got one of the Blizzard 2's as well. Found the stock stick radio harder to use than I prefer, plus the blade height is an active control, not set and forget. I found that if I could hold the blade height at the right level, not to deep, I could do a decent, but fun job on the driveway. To rectify that I picked up a Dimension Engineering Sabertooth Dual 12A Motor Driver, the RC Version. Dropped it it, put in an Spektrum 3 channel receiver, bound it to my 5C, bound channel 3 to one of the rocker switches and now I can drive it with the wheel and trigger just like a trail rig and set the height to where ever and it stays. Hasn't snowed since the conversion but I I'm excited to give it another go.
    One note though on the snow, when I first took it out in the snow when it was "house" temperature I had no problems, but when I left it in the garage and it cooled to outdoor temp, I had a problem with snow sticking to the back wheels, enough so it would cause the tracks to slide off. Haven't figured out what to do about that for when the wheels do get cold but just be aware. Warm wheels good, cold wheels not good.

    The Blizzard is a blast once you get it dialed in. The stock electronics are, like a lot of RTR electronics, junk. One side with drive a lot faster than the other, which makes trying to control it very frustrating. I upgraded mine to HW 1060 ESCs and Traxxas 360 brushed motors, it is not a speed champion by any means, but it is a lot faster than stock, and 100% more controllable (DX6e). I also dropped a Tamiya F350 body on it.

    Love the portal swap on your UMG. Axial missed the boat by not making portals for the SCX10 II. The Vanquish axles are the best, no doubt, but too expensive for many folks. Too bad the portals on the Capra are too wide for scale applications.

  • @The_RC_Guru
    @The_RC_Guru Před 4 lety

    Yes portals should have been on them!! Of course. Same goes for their 6x6. They certainly would’ve sold a lot more. And I have a Blizzard original it’s pretty fun. Not too sure what their 2.0 changed up? I enjoy it most w no plow and crawling snow piles.

  • @tjenkins1126
    @tjenkins1126 Před 4 lety

    Umg10 probably should have came with portals to be a little more accurate. But then again most (all) pick up kits should come with leaf springs then too. Another portal option is SSD. Using their stuff on a project currently.

    So what are you going to do the Blizzard, I have seen 3D printed snowblower attacnment's I think RC Sparks had one, I want to see it as a rock crawler.
    I have seen 1-1 early Bronco on leaf spring's out perform a Jeep Rubicon in the mud and on the rock's, if you copy the 1-1 terra-flex shackle kit's you really get good flex, not sure if you can still get the 1-1 kit, I had the system on a 3A LandRover swb and it really flexed so much droop but a nice ride on the road.

    I'd like to rant about the RC4WD leafs for a second. If you get the full $130 kit it only comes with the axle mounts for the 3 piece kit style axles. If you have single piece you have to buy another $40 set. Or, in my case, I only want the 3 piece kit style axle mounts, not the rails or leafs, which should be only $40 but that's not available. Errrr. Hopefully they sort this out over time.
