It is drawn from the vast amount of 78rpms recorded during the first half of the 20th century, and it represents some of the most valuable elements of the historical legacy of performance practices for the vocal classical music of North India - all of it encapsulated in a condensed format whose duration ranges from just under 3 minutes to just over 4 minutes.
