"A retail value of $135 for just $19.95"
    Honest version:
"It's two years into the video game crash and we're getting desperate"

Yup. The NES was still a few months from being announced, and over a year from wide release.

This is the earliest known recording to have any of the Eugene Pitt/doo wop station ID's.
A friend of mine came into tapes from the beginning of the Splat rebrand (Oct 1984), and we have reason to believe the doo wop bumpers weren't there in the earliest days of the rebrand.
This really helps us pinpoint things. Thanks for this discovery.

Ah, the video game crash of 84. Most people weren't even playing Atari at this point. We had pretty much moved on to the micro computers of the time like the C64 and Apple 2. Most of those games sat in discount bins for years. Some were taken back by their distributors and sat in warehouses for decades.

Amazing that lately we get these pre show bumpers of Belle and Sebastian but not the show itself.

Because this newspaper article from October 1984 puts the launch at that month. May not have been the 1st exactly, but it was October 1984: www.newspapers.com/clip/29969392/nickelodeon-changes-its-image-logo/
