      Make sure you keep a 5 gallon bucket in your truck in case you have to take a dump. Keep trashbags as a liner. I know you think you'll never use it but trust me you will eventually. Otherwise you'll experience a lot of pain and suffering cause many shippers and receivers don't have bathrooms feasible for a trucker or you may be parked in the boonies at a truckstop and it may be pouring the rain. Also, try to run a lot at night. It's much much easier to run at night. You'll avoid a ton of traffic and it's much easier to park in the mornings. Other than that be prepared, trucking is not for the faint of heart.

      @@amaranthinebeauty, I have 15+ years of experience on the road. If you want some tips and tricks to help you out ler me know. Trucking is not for the faint of heart. The first 6 months are the weed out phase. Besides that the industry of now beginning to pay more. Starting out you'll likely get 50 cents a mile if your over the road. So you could very well clear $1,500 a week starting out. Depends on the company but many companies are desperate for truckers. Don't go with a company if they're not willing to start you out at least 50 cents a mile.

    Got a buddy who does O/O reefer loads. He cleans up but I would never want to do it. Tight times on the loads, 3 am appointment times, hours stuck at some of these places etc.... all the stuff we've heard about.

    • @cryptonator1988
      @cryptonator1988 Před 3 lety +6

      You basically always gunna have to wait at a shipper if you own your own trailer. I ran one reefer load. 3 stops took all night and had to put load locks on 3 different times i hated it id never do it again. Plus the cost of getting the trailer washed out and having to fuel up the reefer unit with fuel takes forever and costs even more money in fuel. So in my opinion reefer doesn't work for me.

    • @ModernMessiah
      @ModernMessiah Před 3 lety +2

      @@broahmed1536 ryder you have to be an established business and its like 10k down and around $4000 a month for a truck to rent. Go to penske. That's too much into your profit margin. Your truck doesn't break down unless it's absolute junk. It just has leaks and stuff. Sensors going out. Stuff like that. It's really the shops that keep you not working because they take forever and a day. You could go 4 or 5 months without needing a repair so that $4000 you're paying on renting a truck that's $16-20k in your pocket.
      Trailers are like $1500-2000 a month and when you want a break for a couple months you just turn in the trailer. Don't rent a truck

    Question for everyone who is already trucking. I'm 26 years old I'm an electrician apprentice I'm on my second year of school but have about a year and a half working as one. I'm currently making $620 per week after taxes. Would I be making the right choice to leave? End goal will be owning my own truck. My brother is a trucker he says in August he's buying his truck. My basic question among many more questions is should I leave my job to join a trucking company that will pay for my cdl schooling?

      Or should I pay for schooling on my own time b4 quitting my job? I have $10k my dad left us some money when he passed away from pancreatic cancer. I have to use it to pay about 6k in debt. But should I just save it or use it on cdl? My dad and my brother had always wanted me to be a trucker for the money but I never really liked driving in traffic but after he passed I took some time off and went on a few road trips and I was tired but the views and everything about it made me think more about it.

      I was an electrician apprentice on my second year. My back went out and I went to an electrical supply house for work. Started talking to truckers and learned how much they made. I then went into sales to get truckers their DOT number and compliance/ permits etc. I left that even though I was making 1
      8-12k a month. Now I’m driving in the oil fields making 2-5k a week. It was the best decision I ever made.

    If I own a truck my goal is to clear $1 a mile in my pocket after ALL EXPENSES.
